So when your Chelsea mates used phrases such as "Headless Chicken" or "Bambi On Ice", they were referring to Ramires, not Luiz?

Ramires is better than any CM we have at our club.

Yeah, they were on about Ramires. The bambi on ice is because he looks uncomfortable at times in possession, often with heavy touches.

He is better than all of our CM option but that doesn't make him that good a player.

Why would he want a rival benefitting financially? If Arsenal got £12m from them for Fabregas they could spend it on strengthening themselves despite not weakening like a team usually does when they recurve a transfer fee.
There's talk of a 50% sell on fee. If you think about it it's entirely possible. He was returning to them at the age of 24, I don't think anyone expected anything other than him playing for them well into his 30's and to push the deal through they could have accepted that demand from Arsenal.

Its 50% on top of what Barcelona paid apparently. e.g If Chelsea buy him for 40m, Arsenal get 2m (half of 4m) because Cesc cost barca 36m Euros. I cant believe Chelsea care that much about giving Arsenal 2 million....

Still, Chelsea would be potentially denying Arsenal 2-3 million. To me it seems that Chelsea want to buy him on the cheap and save money themselves, rather than deny Arsenal a fee or 2-3 million.

If it's a 50% sell on fee they'd be gifting Arsenal around £15m. It's not hard to understand why they'd prefer not to hand that sort of money to a direct rival.

 Sorry but I was being sarcastic, Luiz is who you were trying to describe I think, the phrases were built to describe him, while maybe Ramires has looked Shakey once or twice.

Being better than of all our CM's doesn't make him a good player? That's a fair way we've fallen, but I'd agree, but that wasn't my basis for saying he was a good player, merely a point that he'd walk into most midfields in the world, bar the crazy 4 (Juve/Rm/Barca/Arsen)

Ok that makes more sense and in which case I agree with the sentiment that they wouldn't fuss over giving Arsenal that other than the principle.

Best liverpool signing this window, he is VERY good. I wont be surprised he replaces alba in spain NT after world cup.

I would; he's been awful this year, although season before he showed how good he can be, he might be just going through that spell all young players seem to.

The article which actually mentions Chelsea being reluctant to give Arse the money says its a 50% of any profit clause and therefore they want a deal at 27m rather than 30m.

Edit:

Indeed.

No, they were 100% on about Ramires.

I don't agree that he'd walk into most midfields in the world. He wouldn't walk into the Bayern, City or even Dortmund team if all members were fit. I think he's a good player, useful at times but you obviously seem to think he's a world class, or near world class player, something I don't agree with at all.

Expected Moyes to keep a low profile for a year or so after being sacked by us. Looks like the total opposite. Strange thing is he's playing some kind of victim and at times even acting as though he did a good job. Despite a club who hasn't finished outside the top 3 in 21 years coming 7th.

11 years in Liverpool mate.

He won't leave this year. He'll probably go to Barcelona, but it'll be next year.

He's a good player for those that can afford playing him just behind the striker. He's very useful there but he's no midfielder.
The likes of West Ham, Stoke, Palace etc would love him. Big Sam took Downing, Cole and Carroll off Liverpool's hands. There's lots of silly money floating about the PL with the new TV money and plenty fools to spend it.

Not United related, but...

That should cause a few fireworks in the north east...
