We really need summaries every 6-8 hours on this thread. I miss 10+ pages when I sleep and can't be bothered to check through them all. Bulletins at midnight, 8am and 4pm would be great. Or midnight, noon and 6pm. Will also show just how little has happened during those hours.

There's no need as the summaries would effectively be summaries of nonsense. No need to waste any time on that sort of thing. If we sign Vidal, it will be all over the news.

4.15 bulletin

- Yesterday was a big day as many outlets on Twitter reporting a deal was imminent between us and Vidal.
- Panic stuck around 10pm with the papers running with a story United are OUT of the race to sign Vidal
- This lead to many proclaiming that t is just United playing hardball, but some claim they are unwilling to meet the £34m asking price
- At 3am the Caf exploded when it emerged Vidal was on Chile TV discussing a move to United
- Carnage struck with a translator on Twitter claiming they had said a deal is close, then saying Vidal won't move anywhere until he is back from holiday on July 28

Summary: BBC, Sky Sports yet to mention the link. However, with the weight of speculation it is commonly accepted on the Caf there is something in this.

Many have pulled out of emotional investment in the latest muppet darling due to the on/off nature of the rumours.

I usually go straight to the most recent page, it summarises the latest transfers perfectly :p

That's basically saying this whole thread is nonsense.

What do people expect him to say? I'll walk to Manchester because United are interested in me? What about Juve fans then? Some of you lot are embarrassing, or just genuinely superb in hiding your sarcasm. There's nothing wrong with club placing a valuation of 34 million on Vidal. Sanchez signed for 30 Million pounds, arguably more influential for Chile and 2 years younger. There's no point in saying Shaw cost 30 Million, so Vidal can cost up to 50 million pounds. Juve by all accounts are looking to sell one of Vidal and Pogba and in that case, United can try to force and sell Juve to their valuation.

We still signed a midfielder and a left back, our principal targets seems to be a CB and a winger and we don't have CL, which limits our choices and our bloated deadwood will also determine the signings. Rightly or wrongly, last season put us in this situation, there's just no magic button to come out of it, we'll have to put the hard yards in and hopefully we'll climb out soon. It's all good to have fun, it sounds arrogant and disrespectful. Of course, this could all be just super sarcasm that I may never identify with.

I know right. Ronaldo wanted out so badly he compared his employment with us to slavery, and he never gave the media anything more than "I'm happy at United, the future only god knows..."

Meh, probably mostly safe passes. What's the stats for the final third?

EDIT: Post number 4000. What an absolute waste.

The German's are the new Liverpool with their back-passes it seems..

Jesus man, you're gonna be wrecked today in work - unless you're off with a duvet & laptop day?
Ya going to work in an hour and a half...I work in an office so it's just another 8 hrs in front of the computer so nothing really changes! Plenty of coffee ;)

To be fair you are right! I was struggling to find anything of any real worth and I do desire to contribute to the thread! Give me a chance to improve?:wenger:

Exactly!

This whole stat reliance thing is gettin out of hand. Still cant work out how they gather all that info for each player etc..

I wasnt slagging you for tweeting that Irish, i was just slagging the whole stat thing

Oh no! not the Express, Mirror and the Daily bloody Mail. Three bastions of truth and good journalism. They would never lie to attract more viewers to the articles which definitely does not earn them more money....

Does it say anywhere in my post my opinion on the validity of the articles? No. All I said was they reported it. Don't act like a twat.

Waking up till 3 am and watching a stream of Chilean news channels is first class muppetry. Well done to all involved.

Words can't express how poor the Daily Mail article saying it's off is. The premise of the story is that we are put off by a fee of circa £35m. This is having paid £27 for an 18 year old left back.

The Mail's reporting on the Vidal story is up the with the most embarrassing I've seen in a long time.

We might not get Vidal because van Gaal doesn't want him - it doesn't seem likely though because from what I remember he was the one who wanted him at Bayern before and he looks exactly the sort of player van Gaal would fancy for our midifeld. Another reason could be that Vidal himself doesn't want to join a team that's not in the Champions League knowing that he could probably get an offer from Real Madrid, Barcelona or another big club easily - and this is the most likely scenario here if it doesn't happen. Besides, Juventus might simply prefer to sell Pogba instead to generate money for incoming transfers.

However, what I'm absolutely certain about, is that we are not going to approach Juventus for Vidal and then get scared by a £34m price tag. That just does not make sense at all. I don't think we'll sign him but it won't be for monetary reasons.

Exactly.

We've proved with Herrera and Shaw signing that we will big fees as long as Van Gaal thinks the player is needed here.

If we wanted to penny pinch than we could have easily got someone like Ben Davies or Rodriguez for left back at half the price for Shaw.

Everything you've said may be true - although LvG is on record as saying Vidal is a great player he's tried to sign in the past - but the point is that the Daily Mail has gone for the 'United don't want to pay' angle, which is totally implausible given the sums we've spent on other players in the last year. Given what we've spent elsewhere, £35m on Vidal would be the best value for money.

When you scrutinise the Mail article, you see that it's deeply flawed.

I would say the Mirror and Daily Mail stories are in direct relation to the Adidas deal.

Uniteds way of saying "Okay, you all know we are rich now, but we will still not be held to ransom"

Even so, the Mail are idiots for reporting it's off - given they said yesterday morning that the move was imminent, they've made themselves look like idiots. At least the Mirror left the case open, suggesting it's a case of United haggling.

With the new Chevrolet and Adidas deals I'll be surprised if we don't go past £100m this Summer and don't come close to £100m next Summer. We know that we have a rebuilding job on our hands and given the fact that we've just got £75m a year from Adidas I'd be surprised if we hadn't given them assurances about our future dealings and the direction our club will be heading to. We certainly won't hold back from a £35m deal for Vidal if van Gaal thinks it'll benefit the club.

As you say, £30m for Shaw sort of proves that we'll get whoever we want provided that he's available and willing to join. I reckon within 3 years we'll have the first £50m signing at United and withing 5 years we'll break £65m.
