Reports in Chile now suggesting that Vidal talks are gathering pace. As I stated all along talks HAVE been taking place despite some denials

Isn't he bordering on the ban list? I can't keep up with who's good and not.

Bullshit, you know you're as drawn in as the rest of us muppets.

I'm so fecking excited, Vidal & Di Maria would be fecking incredible. I know there is a very good chance neither will come off but surely hoping for one of them isn't too silly?

After the rumours of Ronaldinho, Sneijder, Ozil, Hazard, Sneijder, Thiago, Lewandowski, Kroos and Sneijder all joining us in recent years, a lot of us have grown weary.

Like many. I will remain very skeptical and not get any hopes of us getting Vidal. It's a dead deal to me!

Jesus mate would we have any players left if you were in charge ;), thats a harsh list i agree we could maybe do with replacing all the bolded ones but every squad needs squad players. Never yet seen a squad with 22 world class players.

On Hernandez if he isn't good enough to be our 3rd choice striker then i don't know who is. So far hasn't minded being a back up and guarantees you 10-20 goals a season. If he leaves he will be very hard to replace, very few strikers of his quality who would be happy to be a backup.

Again very harsh on smalling mate, if smalling is on your list you may as well stick Jones on there too as hes not as good.

Having said that both players along with Evans are underrated by a lot of United fans. I reckon this is because as you say they won't ever be as good as Rio/Vidic. But who is? How many defenders in the world right now are as good as those two were in their pomp. Silva at PSG is the only one that is in the same league and i still don't think hes as good as Rio was. Hummels has the potential to be as good as also but getting either of those players here would be very difficult, would cost an absolute fortune if it were even possible.

Theres a real dearth of top centre backs around at the minute. I think with LVG as opposed to Moyes and Rio/Vida gone our centre backs could come into their own.

I dont think that list is very harsh to be honest man.

Out of that list of 11:

2 have moved on, 1 has retired & one looks set on a move to Juve. Add that to your bolded part & thats 8 out of the 11 i mentioned - that are either gone, retired, possibly goin & arent up to it.

Out of the other 3 left on the list:

Nani's been given enough chances & his form is terrible, as we seen at the WC.

Hernandez isnt comfortable not playin anymore. Sure he's been blaming his benchin for Mexico at the WC on him being 4th choice at United. He seems to want a move away & i'd be happy with that. His form hasnt been great when he comes on & his ability on the ball needs serious work. I'd like Wilson & Keane to be promoted to the 1st team & sell Hernandez.

Smalling hasnt been all that shit-hot in the games he's played at CB - neither has Jones, but as i've already posted after the initial post, i'm prepared to be proven wrong..

Hummels would be a sweet buy & have a fit (if possible) Evans alongside him. There are unknown CB gems out there - just look at Vida, so its possible to unearth these fellas..

With Van Gaal comin in, he'll sort out what we need & what he can work with to compete this season!

Yeah, you're right. Then at least it was the player stinging us along, and not just the agent.

The difference back then is that Barca came out and said he wasn't for sale, and the player himself said he wanted to stay.
Moyes also made us look silly by talking about Fab.
Vidal said at the world cup he wasn't sure he was staying at Juve.

I think this has legs, not sure if it will happen but it has legs.

Yeah, you're right. Then at least it was the player stinging us along, and not just the agent.

There hasn't been much stringing along. Just posters engaging in fantasy. For all we know, Vidal or Di Maria may happen, but there's no point getting excited about either unless there's something substantive. Its the group think psychology of these threads that leads to disappointment, not the media, not the player, nor the agents.

I can't find a tweet with this link, and the Vidal thread is locked so I'm going to post it here:

I think the confusion over the widely differing 'valuations' for Vidal stems from a confusion of currencies, this article quotes US$55M, for example.

£32M has been widely quoted, but right up to £55M, which just happens to be about £32M in US$. The same in Euro's is around €40M, another figure that has been bandied about. £32M would certainly be a steal though it looks like it may not be too far off, if the whole thing isn't the usual bollocks of course, a la Thiagio/Fabregas last summer.

Come on Woody, make it happen

Can't wait until this world cup is over now, we will then get an actual idea if we are even looking at these players. If it hits August and we haven't signed anyone else then I guess it's time to panic, but right now any news regarding United transfer activity is dead.

You joined on christmas day?

Jewish?

In the Apple or Android store, search 'Playup' app. Then in the app, search for 'United we Stand'.
Most of the people nay saying this have not seen this video in which Mitten is as sure as he has ever been on anything United.

When does Van Gaal arrive at Carrington? I'd assume our transfers will pick up again when he arrives.
