A case of lighting a blue touch paper and retiring, methinks...

It's a shame that the only wholly sports radio show is littered with little cnuts desperate to be controversial about something.

It is entirely possible that most of them who are criticising our spending might be fans of other clubs in England. Most probably Liverpool... Wherever I see delusion, I see Liverpool fans.

Thought United always had a good relationship with Juventus or I am I just imagining that?

I thought so too but their fans are on some serious hating buzz now.

It's an English talking international supporters forum so doubt it represents the views of the majority of Juventus fans, looking at the locations of most of the users it seems there aren't many actually located in Italy.

We have. They had a message on their official website when Sir Alex retired. We gave del Piero a standing ovation when he played in a friendly at Old Trafford a few years back.

Exactly, the rivalry has always been fairly friendly.

Real are idiots if they sell Di Maria (though it wouldn't surprise me). And we are idiots if we don't go after him in case they do. Tactically flexible, exceptional workrate and capable of deciding matches on his own. Would be an even better deal than Sanchez.

Yes he was but i think the move to Sporting would be good for him cause their coaching team with young players is fantastic.

Edit=was a reply to KM and his question about Ryan Gauld
Exactly the kind of signing we'll be linked to in a few years for ridiculous money. Pay the £3m and loan him to Sporting or something.

Just buy them all! To hell with our finances.

Di Maria, Sanchez, Vidal. Get them all!

It is a bit disappointing, isn't it? All the reliable journalists are saying that all we needed was van Gaal's green light. Hard to see Herrera being a better deal at 29 million than Kroos at 25 million. Might be a matter of mobility, Kroos is quite a stationary midfielder, unlike Herrera.

I will be pretty pissed if we sign Vermaelen for 11M!. Sure 4-5 for a injury prone squad player who's nearly out of contract, but 11? Surely there are better youth prospects out there for that sort of money.

Extremely disappointing yes. He was the perfect Scholes replacement we were all crying out for.

We have to remember that LvG knows Kroos from his time at Bayern Munich. So he'll probably have a reason.

Wonder if the media will ever ask him.

The thing is we have a lot of creativity already. Kroos is quality, but what we lack is some real steel in midfield. He's a great player, but when you've got Mata, Rooney, Januzaj, Kagawa and now Herrera you probably need someone like Strootman/Vidal rather than Kroos.

Also said he's in the final stages of his coaching career and that it's probably his last or second-to-last club.
He doesn't want to manage into his 60's like others. This'll be his last club job. Maybe the Denmark job will interest him.

Hard to compare the players as well when one is playing for a team full of top international players that won the league by 100 points and the other plays in a team that has a handful of caps between them & finished fourth.

Under Moyes, Kroos would have been what he wanted, pulling the strings alongside somebody like Carvalho. I think Van Gaal, however, wants mobility and a faster transition between attack and defence. Look, Kroos is outstanding, he really is, but football teams are all about balance, and with Herrera I think he might just give us more of that, without being individually as good. Kroos isn't really renowned for through balls either, which is something our midfield must improve on.
