Anybody else listened to this album by Twin Shadow? His first record, Forget, was great and I wasn't expecting an improvement on that, but I have to say he's really outdone himself here. Such a catchy album, great melodies, steeped in an authentic 80's vibe. Best release I've heard so far this year, which is saying a lot considering we've had strong offerings from the likes of Beach House, Jack White, Dirty Projectors and Chromatics, to name a few. Here's a few of my favourite tracks from the album;

I like this album a lot too. It's probably tied with Burial's Kindred for my release of the year, though unlike Easy V I've been pretty disappointed with this year's new music offerings, especially compared to 2011 which I thought was a fantastic year.

I think it's because last year, there weren't that many Rock releases that blew me away, Radiohead being the major letdown. Most of my top 10 from last year were Hip Hop and R&B. Whereas this year, you have the artists I mentioned in the opening post, plus The Shins, The Tallest Man on Earth, Fiona Apple and again, great Hip Hop and R&B releases from El-P, Killer Mike, Death Grips and now an instant classic from Frank Ocean. I agree with the Kindred EP btw, my overall favourite release of the year along with this and channel ORANGE.
