I don't think either is disloyal it's just a young player taking control of his destiny that is all. Pogba didn't see signs he would play so chose to leave same with Thiago.

Well, every young player who leaves a club when he is a product of academy (although the coach says that he'll play in the future) is a bit disloyal.

No worries about me for that though, I was just replying to someone calling Pogba cnut for leaving us, but Thiago is a good guy for coming to us. The only way this makes sense, is he's a cnut but our cnut.

One played like three games in a midfield of Carrick, returning Scholes and some other players, the other played 101 in a midfield of Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas and some other players.

Yep, if Thiago comes, he's our disloyal cnut.

He was 18 and part of the U21 squad. We were in a dog fight for the title with City. Sir Alex mentioned more than a few times that he wanted him to sign a contract and he was part of his plans for next season. The midfield of Carrick, returned Scholes and some other players won the title last year. 4 games before the end of the season.

Thiago is 22 years old and as you mentioned, has plenty of experience with Barcelona. Though he is still a back up, who wants to play regular football to be in contention for the world cup in 2014. He is not a cnut.

Did anyone ever call Pique or Rossi a cnut? They left us too.

How much loyalty do clubs show to the great many academy graduates who are released because they haven't made the grade?

You think? But if that club didn't want him he would be out the door at 18. To each their own imo. I'll be glad if Thiago comes I really don't care how he gets here.

Barca are saying that they want him to stay. And their midfield won them the title. 4 games before the end of the season

Yep, he has played in 58% of available minutes for Barca last season. Even more in the season before that, despite having to play in the best ever midfield. And still wants to leave for the lack of playtime. Pogba played 7 games coming as a sub for our midfield, which a lot of people would say is the worst of the top clubs. He played 37 last season in a superior midfield, consisting of Pirlo, Marchisio and Vidal winning the title 3-4 games before the end of the season. Good decision by him. Same could be said for Thiago if he's a success here. Neither are cnuts, just talented players who wants to play more than the current club is offering.

I would be excited if Thiago comes - probably even more than if we sign Ronaldo - regardless of him being disloyal to Barca. But I don't liek the double standards of Pogba being a cnut for leaving us to play more and Thiago being a good guy for coming to us to play more. They're just good talented young players who want and think that they deserve to play more

Not at all.

Anyway, considering how nuts we gone for Fabio, just imagine how we would have gone if Thiago left us despite being 22 years old and having played 36 games last season, and 45 the season before that (in a midfield of Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Keita, Song and Mascherano).

I agree same with everyone wanting Rooney gone but forgetting Ronaldo's attitude in his last season here. He was more disrespectful than Rooney ever was/has been. We fans are a fickle bunch that's all. I agree with you they have both chosen to control their futures Thiago's way benefited us while Pogba's did not.

Ronaldo never actually made a transfer request, and the only time he spoke the voice about leaving in the media was after the pathetic senile Blatter when Ronaldo said that he agreed with him. Not relevant, anyway.

Yess lets remember is spoilt attitude, maybe we should go for the number one player in the world instead.

Let's just ignore the comments which clearly are talking about the loyalty of players, not their greatness as a player.

Sure

Manchester United have accepted a world record-shattering £80m bid from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo.
"United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player," read a statement from the Old Trafford club.
It added the decision came at the 24-year-old winger's request after he "again expressed his desire to leave".

I don't think that Ronaldo ever made a written formal request (like Rooney did at-least 1 time, and if we believe SAF two times). He surely informally asked United to leave for Madrid though

If i want loyalty i'll look to my family not football players.
Fair enough, but we were talking about the loyalty of the players in the post you replied.

But theirs isn't shit as ours was, right?

(you see what I did?)

He wants to be a first choice midfielder and he is 22 years old. The world cup is next year. He wants to leave to get regular game time, in order to prove that he is good enough. A chance he won't get at Barcelona as there are other, more experienced midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order.

Pogba was 18 and hadn't proved anything. He was promised more game time in the following season. Who says, he wouldn't have played more games in our midfield the past season?

Shinji I'm with you, people forget that he was playing academy football the year before and was on the cusp of breaking into the first team when no other midfielders ave done so since fletcher.

The two aren't connected. The biggest indicator of difference in the two is the way Alex Ferguson treated them. When did Fergie speak out in public about Ronaldo in a negative way? I don't recall Ronaldo continually talking how much he wanted to finish his career at the club either. In short he wasn't as full of shit as Rooney and never let off field issues effect his form or fitness the way Rooney has.

(I agree with) This

FCB have just sent me, and others, a communiqué that Rafa, Thiago´s brother, has renewed his contract until summer 2016. €30m buy out clause [Graham Hunter]

You're getting confused here, surely. Ferguson certainty didn't say Rooney had submitted a written formal transfer request, this time around. And as far as I'm aware, the last time around he didn't do it either. He said he wouldn't be signing a new contract.

Did I miss something? I don't recall reports that Rooney ever submitted a written transfer request. Sounds like they both did the same thing.

The difference between Rooney and Ronaldo is that we always knew that Ronaldo would be leaving at some point. Before Rooney first put in a transfer request, he kept talking about wanting to stay here until the end of his career or there abouts. Then after he signed the contract, he kept talking about wanting to stay here for many years.

So you can't blame fans for getting pissed with him when one minute he's telling us he wants to end his career here then the next year he's putting in a transfer request, he signs a contract and tells us he wants to stay here for many years and asks to leave just 2 years later.

But will still be loaned out to Vigo and I don't think it will make a difference to the Thiago situation.

He's still on holiday I presume but I think we will finally learn his, and our fate during Moyes' first press conference.

I don't disagree, but there are enough differences between them and their behaviour without inventing written transfer requests.

Yeah, to be honest I think I was having a conversation on my own there completely unrelated to what the debate was about. Point still stands though, they're my reasons for being unhappy with him.

It all comes down to Ronaldo being the second best player the world. If Rooney was the best player in the world the backlash would be different. Rooney has always been the same fitness wise it has just started to affect his game as he has gotten older and the injuries have caught up to him. Ronaldo was quite disrespectful his last season here he clearly didn't want to be here, it was quite obvious in his body language and conduct, yet fans are saying he should come home?? He critizcized Fergie and the tactics after the final against Barca. The fact he is such a good player means fans are more ready to forgive/forget that. Rooney is by no means a saint he is in this situation as a result of his own application the pitch and rightly so. I'm just highlighting the fickle nature of football fans. I too would love to have Ronaldo back also but when certain fans are talking about respect for the club etc etc there is a bit of bs in there.

I don't remember him being disrespectful at all. And he had some great performances. I believe he had a ridiculous number of assists in his last season.

Ahh okay, Jaffy my comment makes sense when I aim it at you.

So basically because we knew Ronaldo was leaving that made his behaviour in the last season ok? He did not play as well as he could but 70-80% Ronaldo is better than most out there. His attitude stank in his last year here. Rooney has never done anything like that and as much as poor as he has been he has been important in regards to this title and he always gives his all. Rooney tried to handle everything behind closed doors Fergie brought it to the press BOTH times. Again not saying Rooney is right/saint because his form has been going down the last couple of seasons for reasons I believe he is in control of which is not on, but lets not make up things here lads.

How did SAF bring it to the press both times? Rooney done it all himself the first time if I recall correctly, in fact he came out and questioned the ambition of the club.

I don't remember Ronaldo being so disrespectful in his last season, he was injured after the summer and took a while to get back to full fitness.

Let me assure you he was. everything was roll eyes here, roll eyes there and throwing his arms up in disgust he also threw his shirt off coming off the pitch the game escapes me right now. When Blatter called him a slave he agreed. He made it clear he did not want to be here. His general body language was just poor but of course he is so talented he will sitill make a difference in most games.

Sir Alex came out and said he doesn't know where it has come Rooney has questioned the club etc etc he diid an interview with Sky Sport's then Rooney came out. Four days later he signed a new deal.
