What does this lad do? He seemed to know all that was going on with Ravel back in Jan. Seems to know a lot of the players personally.

Is this the David Johnson who used to play for us years ago? He went to Ispwich, Forest and I think Bury. If yes he goes on the Legends tours. Saw it on MUTV. Or is he a younger version?

Younger version. He seems to be mates with everyone young & famous from Manchester - United/City younger players, Corrie folk, etc.

no it will be a commercial deal probably,

old trafford to be renamed Mickey mouse stadium in a $1billion deal, malcolm pockets $974m and buys van persie for his adoring Man Utd soccer fanatics, YEAH

Didnt think Bob Cass said anything about RVP? Thought he was the one who was convinced Moura was a done deal.

Howard Nurse has had contract news before others before and has made similar announcements so I imagine it is probably re: Welbeck.

A shame it seems he has genuinely no clue with transfers though.

He was right about both, the contract for Moura just needed his signature so PSG came in right at the last second. Why would he need to lie like the rest? He is an established reporter.

The Mirror has this in their RvP article :

United striker Javier Hernandez, having dropped down the front-line pecking order at United with the arrival of van Perise, could move the other way to Arsenal.

Hernandez, who endured a difficult second season at United last term, is said to be frustrated at the inevitable lack of opportunities to start now van Persie has joined, amid unconfirmed reports he has told Ferguson he wants to leave.

All the papers just rip stuff off Twitter don't they?

Rooney is off.

I hope not but there may be summit in this-Given the desperation to land RVP and this young Chilean, welbeck's new deal and goal target from SAF as well as SAF's recent praise for Chicarito.hope not but it's certainly got me thinking

feckING CANT WAIT TILL TOMORROW, i hope they announce that I have passed my A levels. How would they know? These days they know before you do so it is likely.

Get yourself on one of the breakfast shows to open your results - those kids always without fail get top grades in everything so that would take the stress out of the whole thing for you :angel:

Got some other news I'll spill after the RVP deal is done !

He said this, sounds excited. Doesnt sound like he is angry, maybe it isn't about Rooney.

Rooney's not leaving! We wouldn't sell to City and no one else needs him.

RvP fee £22.5m + £1.5m bonus if #mufc win PL or CL in next 4yrs. #Afc were willing to give him best-ever deal but never offered actually it.

He's not going anywhere

Barca don't need him, Madrid are getting Modric, he's afraid to go to City after what happened last year, he won't go to PSG

Bit of spin from Arsenal!

I love it how people always just assume that Nani or Rooney have to be off if there's some news imminent.

I'd be guessing it's just about Ferdinand's trial that took place today.

@MartinLipton
No question that signing Robin Van Persie is a huge move for Manchester United and one that could alter the dynamics of the title race. I suspect, even more now, that Sir Alex Ferguson plans to quit at the end of this season. His last act would be to deprive Manchester City of back to back crowns - but not even King Canute could hold back the tide and I am not sure, even with the arrival of RVP, that United have enough to deny City. We will see, of course, but they still look the strongest team, with Tevez and aguero a fantastic double act and Yaya Toure a mountain. How City deal with his absence for the African Nations Cup may prove decisive. Having said that, United are clearly stronger for the new man, even if Danny Welbeck may not feel quite so good about it. For Arsenal, doing the deal now - and not being forced to accept the sale on deadline day - gives time to further strengthen their squad. Cazorla is a top player, Giroud has potential and while I am less sure about Podolski, he is experienced and knows how to score. RVP money will have to be spent, especially if Alex Song also goes. Not sure RVP should be doing too much badge-kissing in the near future, either.

@mikekeeganmen
For those asking, yes, I have an idea about tomorrow's #mufc announcement. If it's what I think it is it's not player related.

Yeah selling naming rights for OT I bet, announcing after a marquee signing in order to stop an uproar from fans.

Glazers seem to be wanting a lot of money recently if so.. Got to wonder what's happening.. Discussion for finance thread though.
