TV series that promised much but delivered little

Don't be silly.

The feck?

I'd now like to retract my original statement and say I think upon second viewing that Dexter is an excellent(although slightly far fetched*) show.

I have just finished season 2 and am enjoying it so far.

*the idea that a psychopath can be raised to make moral distinctions between right and wrong kind of defeats the point of being a psychopath in the first place.

Good to hear, pretty sure the asterisked bit can be overlooked though. Anyway he's not really a psychopath, it's never insinuated that he is. Just has an uncontrollable urge to kill.

It is insinuated that he is a Psychopath but never said out loud.

He claims to not be able to feel emotions in the way that normal people do so he "fakes" them in the way that Harry taught him.

He feels the need to be in control of a situation at all times as identified by the shrink he kills(in season 1 I think).

And he talks about the emotional emptiness he feels which he fills by murdering(a tendancy towards excessive violence being a key hall mark of a psychopath).

These are all traits that allude to him being a Psychopath although you could still debate that he may not actually be one despite Harry clearly believing that that is exactly what he is/would become.

Its said that he's a Sociopath.

Fair point however the profile of a sociopath is almost identical to that of a psychopath only with perhaps a lesser tendancy toward violence and a more parasitic nature.

Even if Dexter was supposed to be a sociopath making moral judgements would still be a problem, but again i'm probably nit picking as he doesn't have to be a full blown sociopath just because somebody suggests he is.
