Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

Someone like him won't last in prison.

I disagree. He’s a crook who has spent his life working closely with other powerful crooks.

He won’t have any trouble finding his place in the food chain. Especially if he gets friendly with a few MAGA screws.

Re: Tim Hogan's tweet -
Leniency won't stop them.

I have a feeling that Manafort's lawyer will end up on some trump legal team before the summer. Both judges would not entertain the talk of collusion except for Manafort's finances during the campaign yet his lawyers have come out twice to emphasize the "no collusion" narrative.

It's unfortunate that so much of the media discussion seems to be on the legality what Trump can/can't do as president rather than questioning the pardons themselves. It then just becomes an issue of political strategy (good strategy vs bad strategy) instead of morality (right vs wrong), which is exactly how Trump & Republicans want it. They've been allowed to normalize what most would say, in a vacuum, is outrageously bad: the president is going to pardon the federal crimes committed by his campaign manager/friend/building tenant, for no good reason other than to protect himself.

Republicans and morality?

hmmm.

They will prostitute their own daughters...if someone will actually pay that is.

Did someone say Russian snowblowers?

He'll be in his late 70's by the time his federal sentence is up, and if Trump pardons him, he'll get none of the leniency the federal judges showed him from the state of New York. He probably will die in prison.

Devin Nunes voted yea on the bill.

Gives you every bit of information you need about the legitimacy of the unanimous vote.

Republican House reps knew it was never going to pass the Senate.

Absolute piss take, especially given the sentences handed out in the US on a daily basis.

On its own I think 7 years is a fairly significant sentence. But as you said, in the US context, it is a joke. 7 year mandatory minimum for transporting 28g of cocaine.

I’ve been thinking about the Manafort case.

He’s worked on Republican presidential campaigns since the 80s and has worked closely with prominent Republicans throughout that time.

From what we know about how he works, you can absolutely guarantee that he has been accruing dirt on these people throughout the years.

I’m sure that will have provided a fair bit of leverage for him and Ellis and Jackson will have been leant on by some important friends.

Lindsay Graham and Mitch McConnell should be burned at the stake

Lindsey has turned into quite the sycophant. He has likely made the calculation that he needs Drumpf's support for his Senate reelection in 20, and going against him now would work against his chances of another Senate term. McConnell's wife works for Drumpf so not entirely surprising there.

Rick Gates still cooperating, next update by May 14th. Doesn’t sound like Mueller has finished yet. Mind you, we’ve got Trump jr/Kushner indictments to come before he locks up and goes home. (Well hopefully).

And to think CNN and the rest were talking about Mueller report coming soon

Don't think they made it up, likely someone in the administration was bullshiting.
Yup. Trying to pressure the special counsel into releasing the report soon... As if that would work

Yeh I'm sure it's what they were all told but it was so obvious that This investigation was far from over.

Cnn were even lambasting Whittaker the week before when he said Mueller report is wrapping up. Showing how silly a statement that was.

The words of a frightened man. He oozes guilt every single time he criticises the SC.

No Collusion ... Blah Blah ... No Collusion, because No Collusion and No Collusion. Something something Which Hunt. But No Collusion!

The whole world is talking about Christchurch and he's talking about himself.

So what with brexit taking up so much of the news here I must admit I'm not sure what's going on with the trump investigation.

Is Meuller going to present his report anytime soon?
No.
And it won't, provided the American people learn a lesson here and never elect such an obviously incompetent and corrupt piece of shit to the office of the presidency again.
More chance of The Rock ending up in the White House.
