We're not getting him. He's the Galactico that Perez will do everything for in order for him to succeed.

This Madrid 'battle' has been so tedious and it'll just end up with De Gea leaving and us having wasted months of negotiating. They're masters of unsettling players and getting what they want.

I see why we're playing hardball but we'd have been better off sitting down to proper negotiations, selling earlier and taking a new no.1 on tour. Having this go on with 6 days before out first game is far from ideal.

Not with them offering €18m or whatever it was. Seriously people are acting like we were offered a record sum in June, they gave us no option but to play hardball.

Maybe there's been constant discussions between he clubs but it seems like it's been played out in the press with both parties trying to call each other's bluff. I think had we sat down and thrashed out a deal, we could have got this over with, with a decent fee.

I personally would keep him and say to Madrid it's over now but if we end up selling in a few weeks, we'll have jeopardised the start of our season for a few million and/or for Woodward's ego. I always thought that with Levy - reputation as a hard negotiator but at the cost of having the squad ready for the season. LVG has come out with how it's not good for the team. IF De Gea leaves, we'll be forced to use a keeper who isn't up to speed with the PL with hardly the most robust of defence in front of him...not good. Of course, if he stays it's irrelevant but...

I agree it's definitely too late for us to let him leave now unless we're offered a very good price. For all the reasons you've stated we're better keeping him now then rushing into finding a replacement.

Just don't feel we've done much wrong here, Madrid just expected us to roll over I think and accept a lower fee so quite rightly we told them to do one and I hope we maintain that stance.

Can't help feeling that we've wasted the summer again chasing unrealistic targets.

We've made 4 very good additions. We might have made enquiries with Muller/Bale etc who are unrealistic, but we certainly haven't wasted the summer. We've done some excellent business.
And if there's any chance that Bale is available then the least that we should do is try.

And surely Adidas want their star player playing for a club sponsored by themselves thus they'll fund the transfer fee. I should be CEO of Manchester United/
Excuse me, we should be joint CEO's, I came up with the idea of offering Messi £800k a week.

Careful. Even if you do sign Messi, you'll get vilified on the caf for not signing Ronaldo and Neymar and Bale as well

He would be for me.

A marquee signing would be either a main player from a big team or one if the biggest young talents.

Pedro is neither young nor is he a main player.

He's a good player but he's not a great one and distinctly meh in terms of glitz and glamour which marquees usually have.

Depends on what you're looking for in a player. For me Pedro is probably the 4th best player at Barcelona, considering who's in front of him that's actually quite an achievement.

 no, he's not. Not even close. Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Busquets, Turan, Pique, Iniesta, Rakitic, Mascherano, Alba are all better players than him.
