Costa seems a good replacement, but is that Simon from Bilbao? I think he isn't good enough, if we are to replace DDG and when it comes to it, we need to buy an exceptional keeper. Everything else will not work out as our recent history shows.

Not for me. I'll return Dubravk and Sell Hendo. If De Gea continues to improve as he has so far, I'll take the year option and sign a budget friendly back up. Preferably on free like Yan Sommer. Have them compete for a year. This gives us time to focus on other area like CF, RB and CdM. If De Gea regresses, id just sell him and bring in two goal keepers. One premium and a back up.

We've had our fingers burnt far too often in cases like this. Now Woodwoodwoodwood has left, we shouldn't be rushing into contract renewals after a few weeks of decent form, anymore.
His wages he’s on now match his current form. His new contract should have had him going upto £200-250k but it’s now more likely to be £300k+

We're never going to get our wage structure under control when fans keep advocating handing out new contracts to players who aren't worth the money. We're going to need to make some tough decisions to get wages back down to a level reflecting the level we're at.

You want to throw £300K at Rashford because he's had a month of decent form, like Woodwoodwoodwood used to do, and then regret it because we've got a player who only has a couple of months of decent form every 2 years? Don't you think it would be better to extend his contract and start discussing a new contract in the spring, when he's shown that he is back to his best.

I agree with you, and it's what Ten Hag wants to do anyway (not negotiating new contracts now), because:-
1- He is prioritizing team development (style of play plus performances) and doesn't want contract negotiations to distract from that.
2- the important players on the final year of their contracts (DDG, Rashford, Shaw & Fred) have 1 year extensions as a club option so no risk of losing them on a free next summer.

We’re at the point where you either sell Rashford, to you know make money or we negotiate a new contract. I agree we’re better off without the players mentioned, they are however prime examples of why your idiotic Football Manager approach to contracts doesn’t work. Tell you what would have been better than activating the extra year in their contracts for them to leave on a free? Selling them to fund other transfers.
I’m not going to get into a debate of Rashford’s form, it’s clear what side of the fence you fall on but the extra few games between now & spring are going to tell us very little about his actual ability if it’s only ‘a couple of decent months form every 2 years’ anyway. By all means argue we should extend the contract to sell him but for someone you clearly don’t rate why the hell would you want to negotiate in the Spring anyway.

Who is going to buy Rashford now? Nobody is going to pay more than 10 millions for a player they can bring for free in the summer. And we are not in the position to sell him now anyway.

You seem confused. If you want us to sell Rashford for a fee then we should trigger his extension and sell in January or summer 2023.
If we want Rashford to stay then we should trigger his extension and tell him to show he deserves a longer contract which would get done in the summer. If he does earn a new deal you still have time to negotiate that renewal. You just have to set a deadline of say June and if it’s not done then he’ll be sold.
Either way the minimum we should do is trigger the extension.
