Haven't really followed his career, how did be develop? Would he be a suitable no 9? Or not of the required quality?
I don't think he's good enough for a top team that wants to win titles. He's much better when he's a big fish in a small pond. That way, he won't be weighed down by massive expectations.

Houssem Aouar to Betis, very hot. New contacts in the next hours.
Agreement very close for Aouar between Lyon and Betis in exchange for a fixed amount plus William Carvalho.

The agents are working to close the deal as soon as possible. The midfielder has said yes.

Last Wednesday's meeting in France has been key.

Aouar is likely to join Fékir in Betis.

Hertha Berlin look like they're revamping their whole team now:

Torunarigha was already loaned out to Ghent last season and since Ascacibar was one of the players of the "Big City Club" era, I assume that it's rather financial than sporting considerations at work, I've read that they want/need to generate €20m this summer. That's a tough ask, considering the season(s) they just had.

Oh yeah, the financial considerations are definitely playing a big part here. I was just surprised about Torunarigha given that he looked somewhat promising when he first came up. Still, moving on might be his best bet at this time.

Yes, once upon a time he looked like a good talent by Hertha's standards. But CB is actually one of the few positions where they had a couple of "good" options and I guess he just fell through the cracks. They let Niklas Stark, who was once considered a leading German CB prospect, leave for free too.
They also have two pretty promising kids in Dardai and Gechter, so I guess on that front it makes sense too, to move on the mid 20s CBs, who show neither big potential (anymore), nor the leadership of age.

Léo Dubois could be on his way to Galatasaray very soon as announced by Foot Mercato. Lyon and Galatasaray are discussing transfer terms. The player has almost reached an agreement with the Turkish club.

Source:

Galatasaray are keen on Léo Dubois, who is interested in a new challenge abroad. OL and Galatasaray have agreed a transfer fee of €3m including bonuses according to sources in Turkey. It is still discussing some details according to sources in Lyon.

Official: Mattia Caldara leaves AC Milan to join AC Spezia on loan with a purchase option

Roma don't want to offer the €6m/year that Dybala wants. They're starting off with a lower guaranteed amount + add-ons to see if that can work for Dybala.

Wow, Ascacibar has really dropped off the radar since the spitting incident and move to Hertha. Looked a fantastic talent in the Olympicsyeas ago and for a couple of years in Germany was one of my dream signings. The player he was then would have been ideal for what we need froma defensive midfielder, hope he can revive his career

I wouldn't use this site as the barometer. He constantly fails the eye test whenever I've watched him.
Gotcha. It is definitely okay for you to call him that if you have watched him play a bit.
I don’t have an opinion on him since I didn’t watch him at Juve. He was fantastic at Ajax though and I believe they made him their captain when he was 18.
Bayern needs a leader in defense and I trust the club to know what they are doing when splashing €70m.

He was very well thought of when he was at Ajax, I agree. This adds to the disappointment in his limited development since. I was really gutted when he joined Juventus as United was strongly linked with him. 70M just seems like 20m too much but we'll see.

I hope he does well for you.

I hope he does well for you.
You and me both, mate!
And remember that €50m for a CB only gets you Ake or the likes. So please spend the extra €20m to get de Ligt. :wenger:

Btw, from all the signals this transfer is definitely happening.

  • Napoli are also after Abdou Diallo.
  • After Rennes were close to sealing the deal, they've now stalled, and this brings Napoli back into the race for Min-Jae.

Is it cynical to notice that Bayern, who never had a Raiola client, go and sign two of his former clients the window after he passed away?

Looks like Roma has submitted their offer formally to Dybala:

Translation:

This was first broken by Angelo Mangiante for Sky Sport on TV.

Three - Mazraoui, de Ligt and Gravenberch. And there was not much Bayern had to do to persuade to come - only the talk with the clubs were more difficult.
