There are quite a few explanations by various posters across the football forum, with the most recent probably in the Tobido thread. Posters also explain how the RB group circumvent this issue between Salzburg and Leipzig (since both are in the CL). Interesting read if you are interested or have time.

I haven't seen their name anywhere. Also, when I look them up, I see Tweets referring to 1908.nl (I'm wary about their overall reliability, but they seem to be close to average for Feyenoord news) reporting that Liverpool were never in the race.
