I wasn't really a 'huge' fan of this idea when factoring in Haaland for the future with Cavani's extension and also Sancho being more available this year, but I have found myself refreshing this and the Kane page more than I usually do and for the first time since probably the first mutterings that RVP was on his way to Old Trafford, I am genuinely excited by the prospect.

He would instantly make us title contenders, even if he was our only transfer! Struggling not to get my hopes very high for his one considering the Glazers could see this window and this transfer as an apology with the possibility of improving fan relations, however hopeless that may be.
I think Kane or Sancho would make us title contenders but you have to ask, what do we need more right now? I'm leaning towards the wings and Sancho. However, we do need a goal scorer and had we had Kane's goals this season, we might have very well won the title. I wonder if Spurs would want Martial in return? If we sign Kane, Martial would see very little time with Kane, Cavani, Greenwood, and Rashford. If we sign Sancho, Martial and Cavani would rotate the CF position.

I think Kane will end up at City, Sancho to United. We sign a CB or DM this summer and go for Haaland next summer.

I truly believe with Kane we can become title contender. Sell Martial and Lingard and bring Kane and Sancho. Get a CB and DM and we would win the league. Now do we have the money for it is another matter

I think Ole and Murtough’s long term strategy is the right one. If we can get some sort of agreement with Haaland, then it’s the right way for me. It also buys us some time. Mase could go and get 20 goals this season.

Signing Kane will will be the death sentence for Ole's tenure. He cannot be happy with a summer of Kane only and leaving the glaring weaknesses we have in the squad unattended for another season. We score many goals, what is the point of Kane and not a RW, CB and CDM. The sad thing is, it would be very typical of united to completely forgo proper team building for a big name.

That's absolute nonsense. Had we had Kane this season, there is every chance we'd have won the league. The games that have cost us are the likes of West Brom, Sheff Utd.. Even Liverpool/Arsenal where we had 1 or 2 chances to win it. Get a clinical striker and they can conceivably get you 10-15 more points a season.

The talk on here is as though we don't need a striker too, which is absolute bollocks. Of course we need to strengthen in other areas too, but there could be a fair few go out. Martial, Lingard, Mata, Romero. That'll free us up some money to spend.

I don't think we'll get him, but to claim that we shouldn't, I find it mind blowing.

Kane would mean zero strengthening in other more critical areas. Those players mentioned are not going to get us a significant amount of money. It will be Kane and maybe some squad players, solving absolutely nothing. It would be terrible management and will get us nowhere next season.

A striker is far from being our most critical need, let alone blowing 2 transfer budgets on one. We need to shore up defense and midfield first and foremost.

I’d imagine any deal for Kane would likely include Martial and Lingard. That would bring the cost down significantly.

How do you convince any players to join Spurs at the moment when they don't even have a proper manager. Jesse Lingard is player of the month for heavens sake!

The same way players have been convinced to join Arsenal or United during uncertain spells. They are one of the better clubs in the PL, and if Jesse isn’t going to stay here, then Spurs are easily one of the best alternative options.

And what makes you think strengthening other areas with unproven players or below Kane's calibre will turn us into title challenger?

Rather sell Lingard to WHU.
Rice for Lingard + Loan Donny for a year + 30 mill.

Because not spending the money on Kane would mean we could strengthen the squad with proven players...have we really not learnt as yet that we need a complete team to compete at the highest levels?

Depends on what Lingard wants. Lingard might not be interested in West Ham without CL football, Tottenham are a bit more prestigious and likely pay more so he might not have an issue going there, even without CL football.

So your logic is quantity > quality?

Don't get me wrong, I don't see Kane as realistic but I must agree to the poster than Kane would turn us into title winner this season. We have so many 0-0 draws this season and having Kane this season would transform more than half of those draws to win.

The main reason for this is West Ham losing out on the Champions League.

Is due to West Ham missing out on CL money or Lingard wanting CL football? If the later, he will surely have to go abroad? I suppose Leicester could be an option but there hasn't been any suggestion thus far that they are interested.

It's a bit of both. Lingard wants to play in the CL, and West Ham will struggle to find the funds to both purchase him and offer him a decent contract if they don't qualify for the CL.

A test of United's ambition... what a load of BS, a test of United's stupidity more like it.
No doubt Harry Kane would improve any team as a 9, but the price coupled with his injury record makes it a no-go in my book, particularly with the state of our midfield.
I think any United fan could draw parallels between signing Harry Kane and the signing of RvP in Fergie's last season, but the "context" of our team today is so different to the one back then.
City or Chelsea seems more pragmatic for me.
For City: they proved they can get on without a proper centre forward, so if HK gets injured they can pull through till he is fit again. And for HK, signing for City presents him with better odds of winning major titles (exactly like RvP and us back in the day).
For Chelsea : It would solve half their problems for the coming season, and they would only need to maybe address the CB department, Kante covers the rest. Easy for HK in terms of staying in London and family comfort.
We desperately need to address our midfield issues though, the overall balance of our first 11 and squad overall.

That makes sense - I wonder what will happen with him this summer. His and West Ham's forms has dipped off recently too which doesn't help in our bid to sell him.

The guy managed to pack like a whole three complete non-sequiturs into a two sentence tweet

- Mourinho didn't 'leave' Tottenham as much as he was sacked
- How does it matter in the context of his sacking whether or not he knew Kane wanted to leave?
- Not to mention, surely Mourinho knew that Kane would likely want to leave at some point when he got hired in the first place
- And then, what has Mourinho's knowing of Kane's wish to leave, at the time of his sacking, have to do with the "ambition" of United?!

Bizarre stuff.

No my logic is that if we have a complete team, by improving our defence and midfield with quality players, we will be more competitive. Those same 0-0 will become wins by having better chances for and less against. It's not about numbers, our first 11 is not as competitive as our rivals. We lack a DM and a CB; Kane would mean any additions there would be subpar.

I think with the money it would cost to get Kane, United could get multiple players who are also very high quality.

Agreed. Except I think we need a RW more than we need a CB. Can't argue with the fact that we desperately need upgrades in CM though, especially after the passing horror show against Pool.

Yeah this doesn't really make sense to me. You don't really need CL money to sign Lingard - they spent 40m+ to sign Haller and 35m or so on Felipe Anderson after bottom half finishes.

The Athletic saying Kane wants City.

Think we need a central mid more than anything. Camavinga/Marcos Llorente/Saul Niguez, and central defender

Real Betis left back Emerson Royal is apparently going to be Barcelona's first summer signing.

EMERSON ROYAL, FIRST SIGNING!

- The player's environment ensures that he will make the pre-season and that they have him and will stay at Barça.
- He already has a house in Barcelona.
- Emerson arrives at zero cost. If Barça want him to own him, he would have to pay 9 million to Betis.

MORE DETAILS EMERSON IN BARÇA

- Betis say that if Barça want to buy Emerson they have to communicate it before the end of the month and pay 9M € .
- Barça understand that Emerson is one of them and they share a% with Betis.

Context: both Barcelona and Real Betis both share ownership of Emerson Royal. Barcelona are looking to bring him back into their club but have to pay 9 million Euros to fully own his contract.

It's Luckhurst mate, he really comes out with some rubbish.

You can't get as quality and as proven for years as Kane though. Kane will give us goals, goals will convert our 0-0 draws to winning goals. That's why I see the logic when the poster say if we have Kane this season, we would be winning league this season.
