I don't think it's our usual incompetence of only being able to work on one deal that's holding things up. I think it's more that we can't be seen to spend tens of millions on a defender when we're in a delicate haggling stage with Dortmund over payment plans.

Yeah and until we know how much it is going to take for this transfer we won't know what is realistically left for another one maybe two signings.

Marco Giampaolo's first move for Torino will be to oversee a sale of Lyanco to Sporting Lisbon.

Oh yeah, Callejon's leaving Napoli. He played his last match two days ago against Barcelona.

Gattuso and Napoli have met up to discuss a contract renewal.

EDIT: Here's a photo of them meeting together

Has he done an amazing job? All I hear about are positive vibes from ADL, which seems very rare coming from him. but no hard evidence to back it up.

Haven't they just finished outside of all the Europe spots altogther, not even EL?
They were terrible under Ancelotti to the point where the players organised a mutiny against him. Gattuso came in, straightened everyone up, and had them play more effective football. Players like Mertens, who previously wanted to leave, are now happy to stick around. Also, after beating Juventus 2-1 at the 26th of January, they won all but 6 of their remaining Serie A matches.

They're only outside of Europe because of a terrible first half of the season under Ancelotti.

La Voix du Nord have kept a decent account of Lille transfers. They're now reporting that Lille and Rangers have yet to progress on talks for Alfredo Morelos' transfer.

I’d have thought that deal was dead in the water if they’re getting Jonathan David. Unless they’re after both?

They're going after multiple players to replace Osimhen. They've already agreed on a deal for Burak Yilmaz (according to Fabrizio Romano). They've also agreed on a deal for David (according to Kristian Jack). They've been in the chase for Morelos for a while already. My guess is that they want multiple goalscoring options available even if they won't necessarily be up front (David can play anywhere behind the striker).

More info: Dortmund "secretly" extended Sancho's contract last year until 2023.

Fine, let’s move on and improve multiple areas of the team with that money. I’d be super pissed if we didn’t have Greenwood, but I think he will end up being better than Sancho anyways.

Sancho putting in a transfer request, eh? I wonder if he'll really push for a transfer when there haven't any signs pointing in that direction. Is he basing this off of the full personal agreement between Sancho and United?

No, we need to stop believing in these so called ITK accounts. Alot of people have said Sancho won't put in a transfer request. He is 20, playing in the CL, getting paid well. He is in no rush to leave Dortmund.

Daniel Harris did say everything is done and agreed, so I would take anything that anyone says on transfer with a pinch of salt really

Daniel Harris isn't necessarily your typical ITK. He's a Guardian journalist and also wrote books associated with Manchester United.

In this case, either he's speculating on Sancho putting a transfer request in, or the club/intermediary representing United feel that Sancho will put in a transfer request.

Wasn't this Zorc fella saying just the other day that if the deal wasn't done by today, Sancho would sign a new deal and stay with them? Now today has arrived and suddenly he's announcing a super secret contract extension that was signed last year?

Smacks of a "yeah well then I'll make my car have wings and fly away" childs argument to me.

I'm willing to bet this was the same contract he signed that was announced and the 2023 is just a +1 year option.
That's what Romano was hinting that; this may have been a club option in the contract.

Harris broke the news of a fee being agreed before Romano and Bild. The payment structure exactly matched what he said. They were clearly being told that from somewhere, my view is the intermediaries, and as they’re all reliable I don’t think they just plucked it out of nowhere.

When did Romano and Bild say a fee had been agreed?

Let's be honest you'd have David Luiz and Ivanovic back at this juncture

Things are bad but not that bad! I'm one of the rare Chelsea fans that saw Ivanovic as a disaster zone in his last couple of seasons, Azpilicueta is heading in the same direction actually and is going to be a big problem going forward given both his popularity within the squad, with fans and the fact he is captain.

They didn't, infact Romano specifically said that it had not been agreed and kept saying soon

Yeah I’m not sure what this boy above is up to.

This is becoming unbelievably tedious now with people desperately trying to suggest folk know what’s going on by using incorrect information.

Willian will be solid for Arsenal just as he was for us. But I don't think he improves their first XI at all. Just provides them with better depth.

As a rival fan I'm glad they will sign him instead of a player who will take them up a level.
He's a free transfer, we aren't signing him instead of anyone.

I can see Arteta using Willian in midfield. It's something I think we should have done the last 2/3 seasons. It suits his skillset really well.
