What were they thinking giving half their team a clause that activates this summer? Upamecano, Konate, Gulacsi...
They probably want to cash in on all of them at the same time and build a new squad to promote and eventually sell on. At this stage, players like Konate, Upamecano, and Gulasci aren't getting any better in Leipzig, and the time to get the most value out of them is starting to run out.

If anything, particularly with Konaté, I think they have timed the release clauses quite well. Upamecano was always going to be timed for next summer given their recent CL successes. They've also prepared for those outgoings by bringing in younger players to take over them (like Josko Gvardiol).

Leipzig is a business aimed at making profit on players. They re the best when it comes to marketing their players which imo are a bit overhyped.

That's right, and I think they've done that perfectly with Upamecano, who has his obvious flaws even though they don't get much focus.

It's mainly an opinion piece, but it does reveal some info over United's likely outgoing and who they're monitoring at this time. Note, however, that much of it is speculative.
  • Sergio Romero expected to run his contract out unless a buyer steps forward
  • Lingard, Pereira, and Dalot expected to secure permanent transfers
  • Jones expected to be sold
  • Mata's contract still up in the air
  • Pogba can still be sold
  • United should go for a new striker given their forwards' goalscoring woes (other than 34-year-old Cavani)
  • United want an upgrade on Harry Maguire's partner
    • Upamecano being monitored
    • Declan Rice a distant possibility

That's quote optimistic about selling Jones, Pereira. Even Lingard is still up in the air, as much has to do with how he performs at West Ham.

Who would pay us money to buy Jones, when he's too injury prone to even play a minute at the moment? Even if we give him for free, his wage would be an issue. Being British in this case, the market for him is more narrower than Rojo, who still attract Argentine clubs.

Pereira has pretty much failed to impress on loan at Lazio. Would be surprised Lazio would inquire to purchase, even at 1/3 the rumored fee.

Can Karim Benzema come back to Lyon? Aulas has his say...

If it were possible, obviously we would find solutions...

Basically, there's no chance unless either Real Madrid don't want him or Benzema wants to leave (neither of which are likely).

Sancho's stock has fallen massively and Rice could be an option now Lampard is out of the picture.

VfB striker Nicolàs González speaks in SportBILD about his future: “At some point I want to move on to the next level. I would put the chance that I will play in Stuttgart next season at 50:50. ”The Argentine is being watched by BVB, among others!

Romero's only hope is either Argentina or MLS in order to play more football. Still, he is in the Premier League squad now that Rojo's gone.

Spent the last 6 months flirting with Real, now he's hoping for any huge offer, seems Real aren't biting.
I think the media blew that Real Madrid link up. Whilst he'd favour going there, he'd equally favour a move to Barcelona (based on what was stated in the past). Max Bielefeld from Sky Germany also reiterated the fact that he won't favour one team over another and will review all offers from the big clubs.

Didn't this Falk character say that Alaba isn't interested coming to the PL?
He mentioned on November 2020 that Alaba prefers a move to one of Real Madrid or Barcelona, but he never mentioned that Alaba isn't interested in the Premier League. He did, however, state on July 2020 (in response to Fjortoft) that Alaba would only go to the Premier League if he gets a big contract there.

I cannot speak about Messi, it will be misinterpreted. We need to achieve our goals first this season. For the rest, we work in secret, in silence to have the best team.

Jesé Rodriguez, in El Partizado de COPE:

"Kylian Mbappé really wants to go to Real Madrid."

"His idol is has always been Cristiano Ronaldo, and he first started seeing him in Madrid."

"He loves Madrid, and I am sure that he will play there one day."
