There was some noises last year of a return to Arsenal on a short term deal. What a fall from grace, injuries properly fecked him. He did play some good stuff on loan at Bournemouth before and he'll be a very good addition 'if' he can stay fit.
I dont remember him being good at Bournemouth at all. He has really poor numbers with them as well, 2 assists and no goals in 27 games. As poor as it can get.

Big news from Marca

@giorno @carvajal Thoughts on the news (including its legitimacy)?

EDIT: Christian Falk is also reporting the same thing (citing Marca)

I guess it's settled.

EDIT 2: This also means that Ramos's position is weaker at Real Madrid. We shall see how that develops over the next few days.

We fecking need a brand new scouting network and somebody actually smart gaining Florentino's ear

Overpaying for a bench player. Again.

Think he ess relatively good from what I can recall. He's never been a numbers man.

Will he be a bench player for you? He's versatile and performs to a good level in all the positions he plays in.

He's younger than Ramos and Marcelo and can do a job at DM. Excellent to fill gaps for injuries and rotation. I reckon he may start for you before long. Your not so sure though?

Details:
  • Salary: 12 million Euros per season (after taxes)
    • Conflicts with Marca's report of 11 million
  • Bayern Munich offered 3 times Alaba's current earnings

No hard feelings, but as always I hope Real crash and burn, so all the worst, David, all the worst.

He's worse at CB than Ramos or Varane. He's not really good in midfield. I'm not sure at LWB anymore, but he hasn't played there in a while. For €20+ millions a year? Bringing back Reguilon would be cheaper, and more of a sure thing, too

Is Alaba really good or just another hipster player? His wage demands are absolutely ridiculous. I don't watch much of Bayern but when i see him for Austria, he has been average. It's like watching Werner being average for Germany

Yeah I get that, just thinking with Ramos getting on a bit now, Alaba is still only 28.

He could definitely still do a job at left back and should be an upgrade on Reguillon imo.

He’s good on the ball and versatile, I’d love him at United.

For 20+ millions a year he needs to be a difference maker, not simply "good". Either he's a Ramos-caliber CB or at least a Robertson-caliber WB or we're throwing money away at a time when money is tight and costly mistakes can set us back years...

Genuinely don't think he's as good as he believes he is. I can't believe Real are giving in to such mad demands.

Feels like you are trying to sign a star player for the sake of it. Not sure he’s really one but he’s a big name player in football i can give you that

Yeah Arnautovic stands out for Austria every time i see them and Alaba seems to pass on responsibility, but one could argue in the different positions they play at both ends of the pitch

Yep. Also because he'a on a free, so it makes it seem like a coup...

  • Loan w/ obligation to buy
    • Montpellier want a permanent sale for 16 million Pounds
  • Other targets
    • Youssef En-Nesyri (22.5-million-Pound bid rejected)
      • Sevilla want 40 million Pounds
    • Josh King
    • Boulaye Dia
    • Adam Armstrong
  • Out of reach
    • Olivier Giroud (surprised at that link)
    • Patson Daka (again, surprised)

Kicker are also throwing United's name into the Alaba cooking pot.

For the sake of your blood pressure, don't get too invested into this.

Oh boy, here we go again...

Laurie Whitwell thinks the same:

So...this is a weird transfer. A player who was pursued by several teams all over Europe is now going to Kazakhstan. He wasn't that bad a player, either, from the last few times that I watched Paderborn.
