What absolute load of tosh about Liverpool. The same club who spread the Jota fee over a number of years, are going to somehow stump up 120m euros for Sancho.
Exactly. They put only 5m up front for Thiago and couldn’t close on a Norwich player for 13m or thereabouts. Even if they sold Salah they still couldn’t afford him unless Dortmund, the agent and the player all significantly reduce their financial expectations.

They did it with Diogo, too. Basically they have bought this seasons' players with next season's budget. Question is, are they so skint, or is this some hedgefund voodoo that saves them money, don't know.

Very detailed story. Not pretty from a United perspective

Hardly the first time we have been arrogant in the transfer market and left with egg in our face...however, in this case were we right not to pay up?

Not just sour grapes as window for him has passed or that we have signed Diallo. I mean Sancho is obviously a fantastic young and importantly too English player with 10-15 years ahead of him. I know we have shelled out huge amounts before on similar players like Keane, Rooney and Ferdinand..................but in the current crisis £250m I am reading would have been the total cost of this transfer and wages, just say that figure 1/4 of a billion pounds...as good as he is, is he a Mbappe, Neymar, Ronaldo, Messi...not sure. Maybe paying big money for potentially the next big thing instead is frugal and money better spent especially considering how many positions STILL need upgrading within both the first eleven and squad. Of course this all depends if we have signed the next big thing doesnt it

  • Rudiger wasn't interested in joining either Spurs or West Ham on loan.
    • Roma were interested but eventually got Smalling.
  • Everton got Godfrey in instead of Tomori on loan.
  • Lampard reluctant to let go of Tomori as he expected Rudiger to leave.
  • On Deadline Day, Tomori was allowed to leave on loan.
    • Fulham couldn't get a 2nd Chelsea player on loan.
    • AC Milan did not make a serious offer.
    • West Ham didn't give Tomori much confidence.

So for RW our options were Sancho, Dembele, Coman, Chiesa etc..

And we got Diallo(nothing against the lad, hope he does well).

Bravo Woodward, bravo.

There never was a serious source for Coman. Bayern/Flick were always very clear that they wanted a fourth winger and not sell their 3rd.

Chiesa was never going to leave Italy. That has been his camp‘s feedback for years. It was pointless to convince him to go to England.
Exactly, but I guess it does the club no harm to submit a quick inquiry.

Yeah, it seems like we reached out to a bunch of different player agents to enquire about their availability.

I also think that specifically talking about Chiesa, it was almost a known fact that he was going to sign for Juve sooner or later.

To be fair, it's like saying that a promising player in the Bundesliga would eventually sign for Bayern. I never really expected Juventus to go after him given that they got Kulusevski and were going after Moise Kean.

Also, they haven't moved Bernardeschi on, so they're pretty much overloaded with options for the right wing.

Maybe the original plan was Pogba out and Sancho in?

Give it a few months and they can agree a pre-contract and have him for free again.

(Unless of course we activate the extension or agree a new deal, the chatter about this has gone awfully quiet)

We're obviously going to trigger his extension. He's one of our most valuable assets.

Not a transfer tweet but I wasn’t sure where else to post it - a bit of light relief anyway (no pun intended)
