I saw that twitter account but it looks like a nobody because they claiming Sancho is done dealio.

Joke of a headline. First of all Cavani is cover.Ighalo is out in January and we have seen him enough to know that he's done just fine but not great. So the signing is warranted. And from what we hear from sources about it being a 1+1 deal it's a low risk signing.

It was clear we saw Telles as alternative to Regullon once it became clear that Madrid wanted a buyback option and we have got him for cheap. So once again good business.

Both the signings are in positions where we needed depth and have been addressed for a relatively cheap amount. I don't understand the criticism of the deals

The Sancho deal is a different discussion all together and spending 100m in the current situation is no joke.

You could criticize for not looking for a CB but that could be down to Ole as well.

Again, this is nonsense negative spin. Cavani is a free transfer, yet he’s being summarised as ‘throwing a lot of money’. He’s the opposite of an expensive signing. And is he supposed to be on punishment or something? Should we just offer Cavani £40k or something, ignoring the fact that his career warrants a good salary? Why wouldn’t we, or anyone, pay Edinson Cavani a lot of money? Would you expect Cavani, regardless of where he played, to be on a low salary, and if so, why?

I think what he achieved earlier in his career, before he hit the market at 33 has little to do what he is worth now. Atletico and other clubs who entered the race before the closing days of the window balked at his demands so I somehow suspect he is going to on a smidge above 40k.

You raised the point of what he has done in his career multiple times, id rather judge him on what he is right now - and that is a player United didn't go near until they got desperate in the final days of both the transfer window and champions league registration window.

This is the sort of spin that I’m always banging on, and why I feel most of these ‘crisis’ are media created. Absolute hogwash. We’ve pursued a LB for a while now, Reguilon and Telles for a couple of weeks. What is his point in the fact that it is late in the window, and what does it have to do with ‘culture’? Or signing an experienced striker to add depth? For free! I hate these creatures passionately.

Yeah it's nonsense. A cultural reboot doesn't preclude buying experienced players.

You can't just have a squad of young players. You need a mix. The young players could learn a lot from someone like Cavani and as you say we've been in for Telles for a good while now.

May I remind you that we are not paying a transfer fee for him. And what he has done in his career is not irrelevant at all. What he has done is why clubs like United and Atletico are looking at him. What else are we supposed to go on?

Does that kinda confirm that Dembele's leaving then?
I’d say so.
I wouldn't. He'd be taking Suarez's place. Barcelona have always been clear in Dembele only leaving on a permanent deal. Unless we suddenly decide to commit to Dembele instead of Sancho, I don't see this happening.

United Interest apparently
feck sake. You fancy picking a completely random player in Europe and tweeting that we’re signing him? Then I’ll share it on the Caf? This place has been full of fake accounts and ITK nonsense this window.

It’s linked because of money. If Barca are doing the Depay deal then it means they have found cash from somewhere. That may or may not be a Dembele sale.

You are making valid reasons to have signed him months ago, i'm sure he has something left. My issue is suddenly turning to him with 4 days left in the window after dicking around for the rest of it.

That's a good point; I forgot about that. Having said that, Jean-Clair Todibo is on sale, and several clubs have been looking at him, including Fulham and Bologna.

EDIT: I also forgot about Eric Garcia to Barcelona. Todibo will be linked to that. Yeah, Memphis coming could be a sign of encouragement on the Dembele front.

United only want Dembele on loan because they know he’s too risky on a permanent deal. Sums up why we shouldn’t be looking at him at all.

Getting him on loan also means that we can commit to sealing Jadon Sancho's transfer next summer especially if Sancho throws a strop.

We may as well have closed the window weeks back then. As United, and tens of other teams, will continue to make signings right up until tomorrow night.

I’m not a fan of this trend of criticism of the point of the window we sign a player. The window runs from point A to point B. It is literally not possible to sign a player ‘too late’. If we do a deal within the window, it is our prerogative as to what point, and a club should have the right to work within the window as they see fit. Perhaps months ago, we knew we had months left, and pursued other things. Perhaps Cavani was an option that we decided we will re-visit later on. Or perhaps the opportunity simply arose late in the window, and we considered it and decided that we want to go ahead with it. All of this is our right, the only wrong way is to not complete a deal before the window closes. Clubs leave deals late for several reasons, as is their right when conducting their business, and doesn’t need justifying to James Ducker and his tribe.

I just think we have to be careful about falling into a media-led trap of complaining and criticising about everything. Whatever point Ole decided he needed an extra striker and that Cavani was the best option, that is the point he decided it. All that matters is that the decision was a considered one. Which it obviously would have been, as regardless of what the Fleet Street hacks say, the club wouldn’t draw a name from a hat and sign them.
