It’s because we pulled out of the transfer last month but after a few bad performances we have jumped back in. If that doesn’t scream panic I don’t know what does, intellectually speaking!

now intellectually speaking, that is a load of bollocks!!!!

Please tell me where we ‘pulled out of the transfer’.

We have not been out of the transfer all summer.

Stop believing everything in the media or stop making stuff ip

50-50 chance Sancho deal will happen
United are unwilling to pay more than £100M for Sancho
Barca want as little as £45M for Dembele but United only interested in a loan deal
Douglas Cosa and Ivan Perisic are other options
United put off by Watford's £40M price tag on Sarr
United are looking for a deal closer to £10M for Telles
AC Milan interested in Dalot

I would like this as a backup.

As soon as Dembele gets the ball and runs, people stand up.

Everyone knows the issue is injuries though. If you can guarantee he stays fit for 90% of the season, it's a £100m player. But you just can't guarantee that with him.

Have you taken a look at his injury record of late? He's basically Phil Jones.

Managed to break the story 2 minutes after it was posted on the official Villa Twitter account. Impressive stuff.

He doesn't claim it do be breaking though, he is just doing his job which is to report. Not everyone pays attention to twitter threads on forums or Aston Villa's twitter feed so I'm sure a lot of people would have found out through his tweet or others like it. I don't get this obsession nowadays with everyone being critical of journos reporting transfers and who "broke it first", it is really unimportant and clogs up the thread.

If Phil Jones was our best CB whenever he was fit, I wouldn't be so desperate to see him leave.

I'd be happy to see United take a risk with Dembele on loan with an option because if he does manage to overcome his injury burst, he'd be one of our best players.

To be fair, Dembele for 45M is a very good deal whether crocked or not. We just have to be careful and nurse him along as he plays. But he doesn't want to be here so the whole point is all moot i guess

Tbh, £45m is almost risk-free when it comes a talent like his. It's a sizeable sum absolutely, but it's not necessarily one that would preclude us from going after Sancho next year either.

If it works out, great but if not he would be a quality squad player who could give us a lot off the bench.

What is he doing this for? Screams nothing of attention seeking?
The point he is making, I think, is that United are being linked with every Tom, Dick, and Harry now that the window is coming to a close. The club have had new links to Dembele, Jovic and Cavani since yesterday.

Did Dembele get on with Sancho? I know he wants to stay at Barca currently but we have a decent French contingent, get Sancho, get Dembele on loan with a £50m option and he ends up loving it at Utd?

If we accept Sancho isn’t happening this year then is Dembele on loan such a bad deal?

Worst case scenario he isn’t as good as Greenwood on the RW but will definitely be a better option than James/Mata then he goes back to Barca.

Best case he shows histalent and is a success and then we can decide if to make him permanent or go for Sancho depending on asking price in Jan/next summer.

Sancho signed for Dortmund after Dembele left.

Far too sensible opinion

It was 21 minutes into the game when you posted. On his debut.

We didn't turn our noses up at him , we didn't agree to a buy back clause (rightly so).
Yeah and he’d had a torrid time.

You obviously rate him highly, I don’t and have said so previously. Last night just highlighted my concerns about him. Move on.

Bit over the top there, Dembele is barely ever playing. There's no reason to get a talented player who doesn't play.

Even when fit I don't know if I'd bench Greenwood for him in every game he also has off days. This transfer makes no sense to me. I can understand Perisic more because at least he'd be available for selection.

If United are looking for reinforcements at right-back we should be all over Tariq Lamptey. Great attitude and he's a player!

But no height. A libility at corners. I'm sure Brighton have to put one-and-half players in such situations.

Dembele is a huge name, will sell jerseys and please our official noodle sponsors. But he is always injured and has had struggles on and off the field at Barca - a team he is supposedly very reluctant to leave.

This deal seems like the crowning achievement of all that Woodward has been building towards

The Dembele stuff just seems like United trying to show Dortmund that we have other options. Even if that other option is never fit and never wanted to come here in the first place.
