What makes you think it won`t be the case? Our form since Southampton at home has been dodgy at best and from then it was clear depth was an issue and there were holes in the starting 11 that needed fixing and we`ve done zilch about it. City, Arsenal, LFC, Spurs and Chelsea have strengthened and will continue to do so and in the case of Arsenal/Spurs now that they`ve had time to adapt to their new managers no chance they are anywhere near as bad this coming season as they were last season, City/LFC will still have at least 80+ points next season and Chelsea after this window will definitely be within touching distance of the top 2/3.
How do Utd with no investment overcome all these teams/challenges? How do we close a 15 point gap on the top 2 while those below and above us are fixing their problems? It will take an extremely perfect storm of our players remaining fit all season and maintaining high form week in week out for us to even stand a chance
Leeds and Sheffield are dropping sums on players that in their financial reality is the equivalent of what Dortmund want from us for Sancho.
This is fans buying the narrative set by the club. We are financially stable, our revenue has not dropped that much that we have no money to spend on transfers considering we have just got rid of £55m worth of wages in Sanchez.
It's been this way for seven years. This is the new normal and everyone just needs to adjust their expectations accordingly.
United's perpetual state of mediocrity is much less painful when it's anticipated. At the moment, it seems like some fans are discovering our dysfunctional state anew every season, which turns this place into some sort of meltdown Olympics for the entire summer.

I`d rather take a break from football in general till The Glazers leave than accept the current state we are in while others around us are closing in on us and leaving us behind it ain`t good for my mental health. This summer and season will be the sticking point for me.

If only our bench was stronger I would have been content with no first xi signing this summer because of covid. But we simply need rotation options because our bench is almost relegation quality. Without a stronger bench I don't think top 4 finish will be possible because of how injury prone some of our players are.

Messi is footballs Michael Jordan. And there is still cap between Jordan and let's say Karl Malone or Charles Barkley. And not the least in their status or marketin value. They would understand.
They have already got an excuse lined up. Due to Covid we cannot pay these sums.

There is no value in the market.... 23 year old VDB is going for £35m, Gabriel went to arsenal for £27m, Werner went to Chelsea for £50m.
