As a side-note, Bernardeschi just changed his agent. The new agent is a certain Mino Raiola
They are basically saying that they believe (either strongly or with certainty from the club) that he won't move this window, probably cause of the new contract with a buy-out clause active next summer, so we will continue to scout him over the next year to see if we are in for him next summer.
Why is there even a need to come out with this? Scout the player but do it privately. I am sure we scout loads of players around Europe. We always end up scouting players a year too late, after they've become well known.
There's our Sancho alternative, Douglas Costa, should be able to get him for a decent fee.
Next season. We are already in excuses mode. Don't expect much to happen this window after the last briefings.

If Chelsea add Havertz, Chilwell and White on top of Werner and Ziyech, they'll challenge next season for the PL. Especially if they add a solid GK and they all gel quickly.

It's just a fluff piece. No need to get worked up by it. We have scouts all over the world reporting on players all the time. We don't 'miss' players by not scouting them.
It's like those articles from ex-Utd scouts saying 'I told Utd to sign Mbappe and Dybala before they moved clubs'. That guy is just trying to a get his name out there for a new job. Most of the hot young prospects are know and have been known since 14-15 years old. It's about whether we pursue the right ones and if they go on to great things.
The list of players Arsene Wenger had on trial is legendary but most of the missed signings out of those players were because of work permits or other offers.
Don't really see why he would make that switch, he wants to play mainly as a midfielder. Also not sure he'd get more money than if he renewed at Arsenal.

Sounds like Jack is still a slim possibility which is music to my ears and we would be prepared to wait until next summer for Dayot. This may well mean we bring back Smalling for next season
