Why did FCB pay a record fee for a teenager then at the time? I'm sure they must have seen something to justify the fee - but the guy didn't really develop in Germany.
I wasn't happy with the signing then because personally I didn't think he would be good enough. Ofcourse Bayern saw something in the euro's and before that to sign him, and a lot of other teams were after him at that time.
They obviously got it wrong, and while you have to give everyone the benefit of doubt Bayern's scouting has been a bit crap lately. I remember they signed Sinan Kurt with a lot of hype but he currently doesn't even have a club. Overall Bayern have made quite a lot of signings since their 12/13 UCL winning season but they haven't worked out.
Honestly the only signing who has done better than expected is Kimmich, he came completely from the unknown in the second division to become my favourite German player right now and a truly world class player. Other than him, they have either managed expectations (Sule, Gnabry, Lewa, Hummels) or have been disappointing (Coman, Thiago, Gotze, Tolisso, Costa).

Because he won't play for us and if we don't loan him out we'll pay all his wages. Inter are only 'taking the piss' if you think Sanchez is actually worth what we're paying him, which clearly he isn't. We pay him far more than he's worth, nobody else is going to do that.

To watch Sanchez now is like watching a 60k a week player stealing a living, given his actual input/output. Just because we are paying a washed-up player 400k a week, doesnt mean any other club needs to sink to our level if they don't think he's worth it. Inter are doing nothing wrong here. They can't afford to pay the extortionate wage we are paying the bloke - that is not a bad thing.
Woodward did do it before with Nani and only a year after he handed him a new contract.

Having Sanchez round the dressing room is toxic. He needs to go no matter what the cost. You can't have players on those kinds of wages, who have a negative demeanor and whose heart is just not in it.
Why? We have a player we clearly don't want to play but can't/haven't sold.
It makes more sense for the player - he gets to play, put himself in the shop window and keep his profile up. It makes sense for Inter - they get a player they want for a smaller outlay. It makes sense for us - we didn't want the player anyway so get to reduce our wage bill and hopefully Sanchez will do well enough to attract bids when the loan is finished, and if not we still reduced the wage bill for the duration of the deal.
As for leaving the squad with a lack of cover up front, loan deals often include some kind of recall clause where the loaning club can terminate the deal and player returns.

How can you be sure he won't play for us? Season is long and we don't really know Ole's stance on him.

No, it doesn't make sense at all. Why we wouldn't play him? Ole himself said that he rates him, Alexis wants to play for us( it is not that he wants to keave or something like that) and we lack options in attack. He can play in all 4 positions in attack. He is 30 years old player. We are acting here like we have City's level of attack and Alexis is some division 1 level player. So yes it will be stupid to pay him for playing for another team without forcing them to buy him next year. Option to buy is just ridiculous.
We shouldn't be giving starts to players based on reputation alone. So far his perfomances have been far below what would be expected of a squad player or a youngster rather than an experienced international on massive wages. There is also little chance of this changing given his age and reliance on his physical attributes. We would be better off giving his playing time to Greenwood, Gomes and Chong, they're unlikely to perform much worse and are far more likely to improve in the near future, and as I explained, it's common for loan deals to have a termination clause where we could recall him in a crisis.
To say otherwise would be detrimental to our transfer strategy
I don't think Ole really rates him at all and I'd say you'll be able to count the number of PL starts on one hand this season, if he stays.
Ole's talking him up with a view to selling him and he can hardly run him down in case he ends up staying.
Greenwood and probable Gomes will get more game time barring an injury crisis.

Agree with the point in bold. Think it should be loan with agreement to definitely buy for 'x' amount. Not sure whether Ole rates Alexis or not. I don't think Ole is going to come out and say that doesn't rate as he could stay here and if he is negative I think he would be more negative if he was here knowing that Ole doesn't rate him.
Wrong. The most stupid deal was signing him in the first place. Getting him out the door even on loan releases half his wages again for a year, a significant amount. Why pay him to hang around like a bad smell?
He's lying of course. You don't come out and said "nah, I don't rate this player" when you are trying to sell him.
If he wanted him, he'd keep him and play him.
