According to that Reddit "ITK" account, he instructed his agent to tell us to feck off.

Laughed at that. But yes, I don't think there's any chance he's coming here. Someone pointed out he's not just a right winger anymore, and personally I don't fancy him at all - I can't remember him ever playing well against us - despite the constant media clamour for it happening with his "Point to prove".

He strikes me as a homebody, so either staying where he is, or a London move seems odds on.

Why does Woodward always shout about us having and spending money? That’s not exactly a good negotiating tactic is it?

Ffs the man has simply said he's going to back his manager to be successful. What is the matter with people??

They're never going to cut OGS and Woodward any slack this summer.

That rumour just about sums up silly season. We will get linked with just about anyone, but why on Earth would we sign a striker on the wrong side of 30? Sure, he's a great player, but that's not going to happen. Doubt we even showed any interest...
He s 30+ but he will sell shirts..

People are obsessed with this man on here. Woodward is as qualified as you can get in business, I’m sure the real football world doesn’t operate in such a manner where teams, especially teams that have been appearing on the top of the Forbes list for a decade, have to pretend they are skint to fool everyone!

It’s clear as day that we need a lot of work this summer, widely reported. He’s simply said he will back the manager in the market. One person has already gleaned from that that ‘so he should be sacked if we don’t spend loads’. I mean, c’mon.

There’s absolutely nothing to see with his comments, it’s just some are so determined to see it regardless.

This! The obsession with Woodward on here in bonkers.
Clubs know how much money we have, we’re on the New York Stock Exchange ffs

The comment was made during a conference call with the investors - it’s relevant for them to know of the club is expecting any significant outlay.

I saw plenty of him at Celtic. He was fine for the SPL and stood out as a cut above. However, unless he's improved substantially, my opinion is that we need better quality.

He has the best minutes-per-goal ratio in France, outside of the PSG forwards. Better than Nic Pepe. It's hard to compare with PSG forwards because PSG as a team are simply seal clubbing that league.

The reality is all options carry their own risk. Could spunk 100m on Dybala and he might not settle here. Icardi would be a manager/chairman's nightmare with all his antics. There's no silver bullet really. When signing players from abroad it seems to me that buying those who are performing well but need to step up has generally worked better for us than signing big names.

Luka Jovic will leave Eintracht Frankfurt and move to Real Madrid for 60 million euros. He receives a five-year contract

"The strength of our business means we have the financial resources to continue to provide backing for the manager and creating success on the pitch," said Woodward

And that’s a large part of the problem.

He should be saying ‘football club’ here.

That's some excellent business. No idea why Frankfurt sell him for that.

He’s not referring to the club as a business though?

He's referring to the business activity that's been achieved over the year though. Pretty much saying they've generated enough income to back the manager well.

I'd disagree - a player from the championship is just as likely to adapt to the PL than a foreigner. Its very naïve logic to think Pepe will settle based on the league he plays in.

Neves has been pretty solid this year - poor example but I get what your saying.

Sanchez has offered nothing since he came, Lingard is abysmal. About time we cleared some of the deadwood out, both of those two are not needed in any capacity.

If we want to progress, we need to be ruthless with players leaving

Granted this may take time, but if we continue with the same players we wont improve. Sanchez in particular is a waste of everybodys time. So yeah - we'd be better off without them
I don't agree with you regarding your first argument. The best buys PL clubs have made in the last few years have been largely from Ligue 1 - Kante, Mahrez, Bernardo Silva, Fabinho, Lacazette to name a few. Whereas very few players from the championship have impressed in the PL. Neves has had a good year but he's been no where near Good as he was in the championship.
Also forget the league, as I said Pepe who is just two years older has 22G 11A as opposed to James who has 4G6A or something like that. I'm not saying James won't or can't improve, but if we are only buying one player for the RW, right now I'll take Pepe over James. But if we are buying a top class RW, I'll take James

Believe me, I'm no fan of Sanchez or Lingard but we have to be practical here, we can't buy 24 new players, no one can. We have to keep some of the players who are OK. I'm all for selling Sanchez but I'm OK with keeping Lingard as he's home grown, won't mind sitting on the bench and is an OK player. Every team needs bench players, right now we aren't in a position like Barca are to buy all the promising youth around to be their bench players because we don't have a proper first team. Once we have a proper first team, we can think of moving along the likes of Lingard and getting in players likes James or Lozano in

Mega. Very jealous of Madrid signing Jovic, Hazard, and potentially Pogba.

Silly Season has officially started where we will be linked to everyone for clickbait and help players getting better deals at the club #Ronaldo.

£100m for Zaha :wenger:

Feck, Sky now also reporting Jovic to madrid for around £52m. Basically what we payed for Fred.
