How much have arsenal spent this window. Looks like it's still close to zero.

They have done one free transfer and one transfer for about 27 million.

We have spent 45 plus add ons and 15 plus add ons... So 60.

Pépé deal for them IF IT GOES through is some long winded 5 year payment plan where they agreed 72 million pounds. That's about 14 million a year.

So how have the outspent us? Even if this goes through. Please note that Napoli can still sign him as they have aslo agreed a fee with Lyon. And we are also in negotiations with Leicester having already had a 70 million pound bid rejected.

Why are you having Arsenal's spend be over 5 years but us 1? Also I said "imagine" hinting at the probability of them signing Pepe. And yes, if we go into the season with our two signings and they go into the season with their two, they've massively outdone us and it's embarrassing. Not sure how you can defend the board/club at this point.

I can't believe people think Arsenal are actually going to cough up £80m for Pepe given they've been bargain basement shopping all summer. Generally when a President of a club is saying they've had loads of offers its nearly always bullshit, see Fekir too. Nobody is paying £80m for Pepe, even in this market. There seems to be a slew of clubs from Europe this year who have decided selling average players at sky high prices was going to be a viable business plan this summer. As with this, Fernandes, Icardi and many many other, its all just bullshit and nobodies biting.

Edit:My bad, with Ornstein confirming it it seems Arsenal are that dumb. Which is surprising, if i had that kind opf money and was Arsenal surely Zaha is the better player and safer bet.
The problem with Zaha was they couldn't afford how Crystal Palace wanted the deal to be structured.

How is it bullshit? Because you disagree? Currently, Leicester are favourites for the 6th place in my opinion. Everton and Wolves will surprise a few too. If we sign Maguire, we'd be able to probably get 4th if we were also insanely lucky with injuries.

You said we couldn’t challenge for 6th. So by that logic we will finish what like 8-10th??

Talk about over reacting. I don’t mind debating and agreeing to disagree on things but there has to be substance to it. Do you seriously think we won’t even challenge for a top 6th place if our squad stays the same as it is today?

Because that's what has been reported. It's no secret that arsenal have a spending limit this window. Every reliable journalist has said it. They have also said that arsenal would be able to finance this deal because the bid was to pay over a long period of time which Lyon have apparently accepted. Even if that goes they still wouldn't have outspent us EVEN if we don't sign anyone else.

I'm not defending anyone. I'm simply talking facts as I have no agenda either way

In other words Ole speaks like a politician making up things as he goes along. So lets say that Greenwood is the replacement for Lukaku then as he hardly featured last season.
Can't bother looking for the clip but he was responding to a player being brought in as a transfer and agreed.

Douglas Costa strikes me as much more of a Utd player than Dybala. I get the feeling Dybala would down tools by January once he gets butchered away to Burnley on a rainy Tuesday, and then starts missing those pretty girls at his weekly Flamengo dancing classes in Turin.

I am not having a go at you mate. I watched all the pre season games and interviews. He was asked in one if someone leaves will they be replaced. He replied everyone that leaves will be replaced. He was asked in another conference directly how they would be replacing Herrera and he gave some bizarre answer that he can take parts of McTomminay and parts of Perreira to plug the gap.

Nah, he's not British so doesn't work for Ole.

So, you mean OGS himself is not very good in identifying proper transfer targets or stubborn enough not to switch to alternatives if primary options don't work?

We dont know who is behind the transfers but it would be a fair statement that we are not very good at either closing deals or switching to plan B. If we even have a plan B

Credible sources have only ever linked us with British players so far in this window. See Sancho, AWB, James, Maguire and Longstaff.

I can't find Ole's interview but he spoke about building a British core at United, to no ones' surprise our transfer targets have been exactly that... British players. It was an idiotic criteria at the time of finding a successor to Fergie, and it's still an idiotic idea this window.

Didn't see that second press conference so fair enough. Will just take your word for it.

It's very sad if true. I want Man Utd to have a manager, whose goal is to build a strong talented core. Nationalities of the players are the very last factor I would have even considered - it is absolutely irrelevant (as long as they satisfy work permit rules of course).

But you're facts are off as almost every single transfer worth a significant amount of money, basically release clauses being the exception, are financed over several years. Clubs are not just firing £70m chunks all over the place.

Some quotes

Simone Inzaghi admits Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could leave Lazio amid Manchester United reports. “The club has to consider offers.”

There are multiple rumours that Manchester United are close to a deal worth €75m plus €15m in bonuses and a €10m commission for agent Mateja Kezman.

“My thoughts are that I’d like Milinkovic-Savic to stay, but I also believe the club has to consider offers when they come in and then make a decision,” said the Coach in today’s Press conference.

“We know that if he was to leave, we’d have some important shoes to fill. I hope he remains, he had a great pre-season training camp, but the market is open and we are ready for any situation.

“Milinkovic will play today’s friendly against Mantova. If he were to leave, we’d need a physical figure to come in to the midfield. Purchases are targeted, chosen together with the club, we sat down and talked calmly.

“Milinkovic is 24 years old now, he’s no longer a kid. I can give him advice, he is at our disposal and hasn’t missed a training session, but then I don’t know what will happen. I hope he stays.

“If an important offer arrives, it is only right that the club take it into consideration.”

I'm in complete agreement with you, let's hope we pull our finger out and get 2-3 players in by the end of window. Although, at the moment I have very little faith in Woodward.

Would it be accurate to say that Milinkovic-Savic is the midfielder United want Pogba to be and that Bruno Fernandes is a less good version of the midfielder Pogba wants to be/thinks he is?

If United got both while selling Pogba for the same amount they'd be in a better position surely?

On paper, yeah Bruno and SMS look like a decent midfield but who knows how they'll adapt to the PL

Agree with the latter but not the former. Would ignore the links to both players because I think they are total bollocks.

I would say YES. Both would add goals to the midfield and I think they're the kind of players that would thrive in this league.

No. I wouldn't say so. Milinkovic-Savic is more of a budget Pogba, if you will. Not as technically as good or mobile, but puts in more of a shift defensively and is a greater aerial threat. Fernandes is a different player. Very good long shot, better play maker and good in tight spaces, but nowhere near the same physical presence as the other two.

Considering people keep saying that "lukaku going will free up funds for more attackers". I think a strong argument could be made that any maguire deal in the range of 80-90m may be held up by needing to sell lukaku first.

I'm convinced that this is the case. There's no other reason I can think off for the delay, if the club are adamant about signing Maguire.

No. Unsurprisingly, selling your best player for a couple of alright ones doesn’t put you in a better position.
