Manchester United are targeting West Ham’s Issa Diop - but could be forced to pay as much as £75million to prise him away from the London Stadium.

So were a lot of players before him and then went on to fail. There's absolutely no way for you or anyway to know if a player is gonna succeed or not. A lot of people saw Fred play before and would have been adamant that he would succeed.

All i'm saying is, it's not a stick to beat the board with. The same Fred you're shitting on was wanted a lot by one of the best managers in the world in Pep.

Anyway, let's judge the board at the end of the transfer window. No need to be negative after each tweet posted in here.

Fred for all his qualities was after all playing in Ukrainian league. He's a quality player, which is why Guardiola wanted him, and who can tell whether he would be a better player if he joined them.

Now when it comes to Rodri, as I already stated, his skillset combined with his size, mobility and overall ability to read the game is what makes me believe he'll transition much better to EPL football than Fred and considering we're due for an upgrade in his position I really feel we should really be in for him.

Now obviously I don't know for sure whether will he be a success or a failure in EPL, I'm not clairvoyant, but as I've said before, his overall qualities is what's giving me a feeling he'll do quite good.

Big and mobile DMF's that can read the game, recover the ball, pass it with good accuracy and run with it, don't come that often at all.

The tweet from Luckhurst is bull, we could go for any player on the planet and not get out bid if we wanted him that badly.

If he is making stuff up and trying to make us look bad which it appears he is, he should just say Utd are looking for players they feel they will have little competition for.

edit- Even then its probably not true because that juts means crap players, ED seems like the guy to not spend for spending sake.

Said this yesterday. This is what I expected them to charge. If we can’t get De Ligt, Koulibaly is £130m and Maguire is £90m - I’d actually do a sea for Diop. Think he will really become something special. If we can include a player to get the cost down, I wouldn’t dismiss it.

With a little bit of common sense and critical thought, you'd realise that it's silly season and journalists are desperate for clicks because that's what journalism has been reduced to in the modern era.
So reading rumours shouldn't make you react in any way, because they have have an agenda to drive traffic to their articles.

Instead our fans feed into it, and start name calling, and everyone is a failure, and United are finished, and look at what everyone else is doing blah blah blah.

The level of toxicity our fanbase is at right now reeks of insecurity and jealousy.

Completely agree. I like transfer season, mainly because there's just more 'stuff' to read. I don't take it seriously, just like I didn't spend £10 ringing teletext back in the day because of the 'Manchester United line up £15 million bid for mystery European star!' headline. But it is a bit of fun and a chance to discuss players you wouldn't really think to discuss during the season. It's just descended into a huge whinge fest though and it's generally the fans that have made it tiresome.

ghanta 75m. They are pulling the number out of their ass..

They'll happily sell if anyone offered 60m.. and no one is offering anywhere near that.

Pogba, Lingard, Andreas, Fred, Matic, McT, Daniel James, Sanchez, Rashford, Lukaku, Martial

11 players for 6 positions..

Sanchez is pretty much useless. I dont trust Andreas yet. Have no idea how James will adapt.

Europa league means a lot of games next season. We need players in the squad.. even if its for rotation.. and no, Garner or Chong dont look ready.. at all.

We'll add players, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping Mata around.. As long as he isnt first choice.

There is a lot to complain about how the club deals with contracts and transfer, but getting Mata to sign on is not one of them.

It just shows that the real value in the market (for United), at least when it comes to buying from within England, is with developing talent rather than buying it in.

Gone are the days where you could let X club buy X player, wait and see how they develop and then hoover up the the proven stars. Clubs in our league are all too wealthy for that to be a value proposition now, especially when they know we have money to burn.

Things normal football clubs do: extend the contract of your £50m rightback who is arguably the best in the league at his position while simultaneously spending another £50m on a player in that exact position.

When you’re run by a nation state that laughs at the FFP rules, you can spend whatever you want.

If Mata's is a rolling contract that is fine. If it is 3 years it is stupid. I agree he has his uses, but a three year contract for someone who is already past his prime is daft, so hopefully that rumour is just bs.

Sell him of course. He asked to leave and we reward him with a ridiculous contract. Use the money to make the team stronger on more positions. Simple really
Pogba can potentially be sold for 150m GBP, and that's not guaranteed. Who do we buy? Do we think it's that simple? I don't know, it's easier to keep him, extend the contract, and say f*** to everyone else. I mean, when Ronaldo or Ramos did it, it didn't change the world, did it?

Sure hope it's just a one year deal for Mata, but if it is a 3 just make it a 4 so we can give him a testimonial. A testimony to the downfall of United: 10 years of the likes of Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Juan Mata.

The interesting conundrum for some clubs though is that this could be the peak of the market. With the TV money surely going down. And with players recognizing the value of their contract, it could make sense to sell now. Teams like Leicester have to decide whether Maguire and Diop will increase or decrease in value. I don't see them increasing. And it's just like United to buy at the top end of the market.

I actually wouldn't mind Juan having a testimonial, but the others, they would get one for just hanging around like a bad smell, rather than their achievements.

I absolutely agree, though it’s obviously not just Utd fans critical faculty that’s shot. Yesterday a Liverpool supporting friend said they were frontrunners for Mbappe and that Rashford was demanding 350k a week. Today an Everton friend had a good laugh after telling me our new director of football was ex Everton assistant manager Steve Walsh. It’s worse if you’re a United fan at the moment because we’re in total dire straits, but the propensity to get swept up in the bullshit isn’t limited to us.

But yeah what makes it really tedious is the pathetic whinging and derision of everyone and everything to do with the club, which is certainly amplified at Utd currently.

Why are we not after Ndombele? Are we really going to watch him go to Spurs? Bruno Fernandes? Van Beek? Kai Havertz? These are realistic players we could purchase after Pogba's sale. And I bet they will focus more on their playing than marketing. We need to be after these players who just want to play and improve every year!

After three years, Pogba has not had one season that justifies his price tag but in his mind, this is the best he can give us and wants a new challenge. How do you keep someone who thinks like that? What desire is there from him to improve for us? Why keep someone like that?

You think TV money is going to decrease?

The Leicesters and West Hams are surely looking at this thinking they aren’t far off from passing us in the table. If they can keep hold of most players and add a couple it may just happen this next season. So with that in mind if they are going to sell to us and perhaps forego that opportunity, they are going to demand insanely high compensation.

And TV money is not going down anytime soon. Amazon only just got into the game. It’s still in its infancy of growth in Asia and America. Money is going to go bonkers still.

I'm not sure. This probably isn't the right place for the debate, but I think streaming platforms taking over cable will cut down some of the revenue in the Premier League. Won't happen for a few years yet, but clubs should be looking at the current price of players as close to peak levels. Selling now makes sense on many levels. But I can see the perspective of lower teams who think they can catch us. They have every right to believe it after our staggering transfer mistakes.
