People forget that they've not spent on players for a few good years now while winning 3 CL in a row (whatever prize money that entails) in addition to selling Morata and Ronaldo. They're a well run club.

But that's close to €1b spent this window alone. And those players weren't playing for free. Their wage budget would have been huge and probably still is.
I think that’s why Griezmann is probably confirmed now, as they’ve lost out on De Ligt.
They are obviously not paying all stadium costs at once, they will do it in some years or it's possible they have saved up because they were relatively quiet the last few years. Also having owners who don't leech the club helps.
Really impressed by how quickly Real have completed all their transfers so far. Acting with decisiveness and urgency after a disappointing season. Although not sure how they have the money left to also bid for Pogba. If they need to sell to comply with FFP, it probably puts them in a weak negotiating position with player sales.

To put things in perspective we have spend 930 million euros since 2014(that is including all the signings this summer) and sold for 541 million euros. A deficit of -388 million euros.
United has for the same period spend 911 million euros and only sold for 276 million euros. Deficit of 635 million euros.
Barcelona, City, Chelsea and PSG has spent more than us for the same period. Barca deficit is -462,72 Mill. €, City -738,52 Mill. €, Chelsea -171,43 Mill. € and PSG -577,70 Mill. €.

Transfers work in the same way though, they pay them off over seasons and not one go. We'll see anyway, I'm expecting them to move a couple of players now before they make a move for someone like Pogba.

Clubs that are listed on the stock exchange have to afaik. Not sure if OL are though...

Rakitic, Coutinho, Dembele, Malcom, Umtiti, Cillessen all reportedly up for sale. I imagine they'll get a couple of bites.
I don't think the market works like that though.
Big teams pay big transfers and salaries, small teams won't dare fork out £50m plus on players that don't want to leave Barcelona. Big teams will ony if desperate.
I think the days of seeing Maradona's join Napoli's or Ravinelli's join Middlesbrough's are gone.
I wish we would do something similar when it comes to spending on transfers/wages, at least once, just to see the difference between reports and real numbers.
Do you understand that the last galactico player prior to this season has been James Rodrigues for 75m Euros in 2014? Even then, we financed his purchase by paying up 75m Euros for Di Maria, so overall their spend in 14/15 was 13mill Euros. Here's the breakdown of the following years:
- 15/16 - they spent 75mm EUR
- 16/17 - they earned 7.5mm EUR
- 17/18 - they earned 88mm EUR (thanks to Morata and Danilo)
- 18/19 - they spent 29mm EUR
Wages are wages, everybody pays them - and I bet they pay less than us overall. I think if Pogba ends up there he will have to take a major pay-cut (which is part of the reason Paul's camp hasn't been much more vocal about the move in the first place).

Works like what? If those players are all up for sale, Barca will undoubtedly sell some of them (and big clubs will be interested).
They have a large wage bill, but also have the second largest revenues in football (behind Madrid) and plenty of saleable players.
I´m not sure either, but I honestly do not care about the FFP. If they want to go over the limit, they should do it, and if they punish us without signing(I think they won´t do it again), I do not care either.
Fecking Spanish clubs man. Thats how its done.

As in big players going for big money. It's a sellers market unless you're having to sell your players, then it's very much a buyers market. Which is where Barcelona find themselves.
I'm sure they'll sell a few but they won't get huge cash for someone like Coutinho because he just isn't worth the risk to most teams.

OK, but they have a large number of saleable players - they can afford not to make their money back on Coutinho.
