No chance we go for Havertz unless Pogba leaves and could even say the same for Grealish too.
Personally would love us to sign an all round midfielder like Saul but never going to happen in a million years.
Part of me wonders if clubs will be reluctant to spend at all considering how financially fecked the world is. Do they really want to be seen throwing tens or hundreds of million pounds about?

It's something along the lines.
In recent windows our spending has been in the region of £150.
If we get Sancho for €100m (£90m) and Havertz for €85m (£75m) we are just over the "budget".
I think we'll go for Sancho and then drag out Havertz/VDB/Grealish as it's possible the second signing to be affected by potential exits of the players you mentioned. If we can't get more than £50m we might go for the cheaper option - VDB. Or maybe Grealish, if Villa go down and we manage to drive the price down.

I think there’s a number of factors which make this a pipe dream to be honest.
Firstly we’re in the midst of a pandemic so talk of budgets in relation to previous years is a bit mute. Also I don’t recall us spending £150m net recently anyway, the last 2 summer windows our net spend has been well under £100m. To add to that the £50m-ish spent on Bruno was out of this summer’s budget as well.
Finances aside since we can agree/disagree on our spending power this summer, I don’t see where those 2 signings fit (again assuming Pogba is staying). With Pogba, Bruno, Rashford and a centre forward there’s only 1 spot to be filled in the first XI attack - the right wing. There simply isn’t room to start all of them so I’m pretty certain we wouldn’t push the boat out on these 2 when there’s other areas of the starting team that need improving. It’s great for the squad on paper but you don’t sign an £80m+ player to not be an automatic starter.
I think what’s far more likely is that any interest in Havertz (if there is any) would be as an alternative to Sancho for the right wing spot. After that’s resolved I wouldn’t be surprised to see us look to improve our midfield and attacking options with any attractive deals available (as mentioned before if Grealish or VDB can be for for £40m I imagine we’d be interested).
In Almost any transfer the overall payment is spread out over a few years.
So 150 mill spent this summer would in reality cost us for example 100 mill this year and the remaining 50 spread over two years (or something similar.)
We must be in the market for a new CM this summer is what I take from this news. Him going and Gbamin with another long term injury leaves us really thin in that position because Delph seems injury prone and we need to be careful with Gomes still after that leg break.

I'm becoming convinced we are planning for Pogba's departure which explains why we're targeting these players. Havertz and Grealish are better than VdB and are starting 11 quality so the fact that that they are ahead VdB in our shorlist means we want starting quality. We know Havertz and Grealish would be more costly than VdB and we know they would want a starting place more so than VdB so why would we place them above VdB in our shortlist especially when our midfield is already complete. It can only mean we are planning for one of our starting creative midfielders - Bruno or Pogba departures.

Sancho has had many disciplinary issues and I’m surprised you couldn’t relate my post to that exact theme of him continuing to act in a manner that seems “immature and irresponsible” even after he’s moved to our club.
Now to elaborate on his issues; turning up late for training. Late to/missing - team talks. Taking frequent flights back home (which is his right but not when it’s affecting his scheduling responsibilities to the club). A couple of these aforementioned occasions also resulted in substantial fines.

Also, I never generalized about players taking advantage of home ground. I was strictly referring to Sancho. He’s already well-aware of his popularity and has let himself act independently while not adhering to club rules.
On his return home, knowing his popularity will sky rocket even further, his antics may continue and those could be toxic for our locker room.
As mentioned earlier, players like Beckham, (can’t forget Depay either), as well as recently, Pogba, invested too much time in their off-field promotional activities.
Those affected their reputation in front of the fans, as well as their standing with the club.
While all of us would love to see him sign for our club, it’s equally important to ensure we’re about to sign a Sancho whose more mature now.
I’m sure he’ll be having a serious talk with Ole providing assurances of improvement in his maturity and responsibility.
For any reason, you’d like to repeat yourself again a third time, and refer to my fact-based arguments as ‘mental’, there’s no need. Would be quite mental in my opinion.
Sancho was 16 or 17 when he went AWOL because Pep didn't invite him to first team training. I think that alone says a lot about him and his ego. These days just so many teen players already see themselves as superstars, icons and brands (Mbappe's no better) and for what it's worth: Jayden Braaf from City academy is allegedly even more talented than Sancho but has same attitude so quite possible 18-24 months from now he'll be another must-have winger from Dortmund / Leipzig / Gladbach.

But I think we’re trying to bring Pogba’s replacement in before we let him go.
It’ll substantially be more expensive to get one once he’s gone (assuming that’s not happening until next year).
The pandemic has resulted in less teams potentially rivalling us in terms of chasing the aforementioned players as well potential savings cost wise this summer. We’re looking to take advantage of this situation.
Sure, any of the replacement options will want to be a starter and that will obviously be the aim.
But signing one of them now gives us time to merge them into the starting 11 slowly while providing backup and time to realize our best formational setups etc.
Furthermore, I’m guessing investing in Pogba’s replacement (preferably Havertz or Grealish in that order), will also boost our financial revenues in the short term which will itself help us in paying the fees for the purchase.

Says more that amazing talents at City aren't being used correctly and are having their route to the first team blocked by Pep choosing to spend on established players instead. Wouldn't blame the kids for seeing the writing is on the wall and getting the hell out of there.
Not sure about other clubs, but ours is definitely well positioned to weather this covid storm bravely, based off reports.
In the scenario that we do somehow manage to sign Sancho + Havertz/Grealish, it would boost our commercial value immensely. Would indicate a bold statement by the club in regards to our ambitions (great for our Stock Exchange presence as well as to our commercial partners).
As a brand, Manchester United would become one of the safest brands to invest in during and post pandemic (short term). The age group that were targeting would also guarantee our strength on a long term basis.

He might be tier 1 but he's without a doubt not as reliable as he used to be and is usually a few steps behind other journalists. He usually walks the company line because his info is what the club wants out there.

Impossible to say - depends how desperate the Selling club is to get funds in. If a club needs Money to sign new players or they are not in financial problems, they will probably accept installments. However a club in the Championship or a club struggling financially (Typically a Monaco, or Sporting) will probably insist on getting as much as possible up front because they need the Money here and now to pay wages, bills etc

This is the point I have been trying to make.
Players who are already, or about to, reach a star status, have to be handled very intricately.
We can not afford signing another player who will disrupt our clubs‘ culture no matter how talented or special he may be.
Sir Alex was amazing at dealing with such players. Usually he’d try and get rid of such players. But we are trying to sign one in this situation.
However, as cautious as I may sound, I have a feeling Sancho will mature well. I think most of his previous disciplinary issues were due to his disconnect with his surroundings in Germany and BVB. He’ll be better off coming back home (to us).
In all fairness, even Pogba’s transition to our first team from the academy was delayed by Sir Alex.
Sure the manager does have some blame to bare in such situations but I think how a player reacts to such situations speaks more about them.
Many players have to go above and beyond to prove themselves apart from their talent already proving their potential. But the ones who react by attracting negative attention usually suffer later.
A great example is Balotelli. When he was at City, I used to hope we had signed him instead of them. But I later realized he would’ve disrupted the culture immensely. Hence become a liability that becomes a nuisance to get rid of.
