Lingard is on 100k a week and apparently Maddison is currently on around 55k so good luck getting this deal sorted
Why the feck did we give him those wages in the first place? Was there really any danger he would get a better contract elsewhere? I swear to god with Judge and Woodward we have the worst sporting directors of any club in Europe's top leagues.

Our contract renewals are doing more damage than our recruitment.

Rashford for instance is on 200 - 230k, same money as RvP was on at United. We're throwing away insane amount of money for players that have not shown anywhere near the quality and consistency needed to be a title challenging side.

But to replace Rashford it would cost £xm in transfer fee plus £ym in wages so it’s far cheaper to pay Rashford that sort of money than let him go and replace him.

Same could be said for Lingard, although debatable!!

Those lower league tweets are making me check this thread less often.

I used to be excited to to see a new twitter post in this thread but that has slowly died since the insistence of posting tweets that have no bearing on the bigger leagues and Manchester United

Downgrading world class midfielder to a problematic over rated diva.

Nobody:

Absolutely nobody:

Redcafe: GIVE HIM ALL THE MONEY HE WANTS AND RUN!
That poster hates Pogba and will say anything to make that clear (even though it already is)

Don't think it would cost much to replace 0 goals and 0 assists.

He's supposedly on 200k while RVP was on a bit more than that, I believe, but is 200k a week in 2020 really the same as 200k a week in 2012?

Wages and transfer fees have increased significantly since RVP signed for United.

Just because you keep saying he's on £100k a week, it doesn't make it true.

I cant post tweets, but has anyone seen the links in the Daily Mail for us trying to get Jimenez and Neves?

'Anything can happen when the window is open': Wolves boss Nuno REFUSES to rule out £51m-rated Raul Jimenez joining Manchester United this month as Ole Gunnar steps up hunt for new striker

Manchester United 'ask Wolves about Ruben Neves' availability' as they eye double swoop with Raul Jimenez also on their January transfer wish-list

Yes, I posted that tweet this morning.

Wolves and Leicester won’t bend over for us the same way Southampton did for Liverpool unfortunately.

Bild report that Alcacer wants out (has been reported a couple of times before lately) and that Atletico and Valencia are interested. The price tag is supposedly €40m, out of the question for Valencia who would have to loan [don't think that's likely], perhaps possible for Atletico.

No it’s not.

It’s a dreadful comparison. George Best was on £10 per week for example.

Woody is going to keep briefing the media about targets that are unrealistic.. players from clubs who dont want to sell...

sign no one and then say how the asking price was unrealistic.

Normal bs from Woody.

The sad thing is, the unrealistic targets a few years ago used to be world class players... and now its tier 2 players.

Just use the scouting network and sign some fecking players.

Lots of assumptions you’ve made there, lots of them and most way off the mark. I do not appreciate people spreading lies about any of our players, this place is rife with them. You’re one of those who likes to grossly exaggerate performances and put 2 and 2 together and make 12, so you’ll fit right in here...
Well yes, actually, but no.

Smalling isn't good enough to stay at United, furious ret-conning aside.

Liverpool made an amazing team largely out of "tier 2" and below players.

To be fair, they also have a very good manager who knows what he wants, and also a recruitment structure which actually supports his and team's needs. We've neither of those, and are worryingly getting into a very reactive recruitment mode.

You pay players based on the market rate, not because of the reasons you stated. We should be doing gradual pay rises with regular contract extensions like most other clubs do. This rewards players for improvement whilst holding players down long term. The way we do contracts now just means we usually offer stupid wages to players who we can’t get rid of when they invariably drop in form once their contract has been agreed. Look at De Gea.

Pretty much. We all know Maddison will cost £80m plus. So our offer is half that plus a player many want rid of with no goals or assist for a year. His value has to be max £15-20m at the moment. They simply won’t accept it.

And Wolves are above us in the league and we still haven’t beaten them since they were promoted. Given the Mendes connection I can’t see many of their players leaving.
