Don't buy the Mario Fernandes story, the time to move him would have been after the World Cup.

I know it's' not gospel, but Mario has been absolutely quality on the last 3 or 4 FM games.
Actually looked decent at the world cup also.
No idea how good / consistent he actually is though

Not good enough. Had one good season that too in a lower league. And why tf would be buy a LB

So half good in his two year career so far.....and he is 18. Didnt have a great season but he obviously has ability, whether he his overhyped or not is another story.

If he is £25m or around that kind of figure and gives us cover and competition at both left back and left wing, isnt that pretty shrewd business?

Certainly not the type of character OGS is looking for. Already beginning to believe his own hype if story is true.

Raiola turns his clients into cnuts.

I reckon he is using us to force Barca to give him a bigger contract and has absolutely no intentions of coming here. It is Ramos all over again. But if there was a minor chance of signing him, we should despite his behaviour -- we cannot always ignore great talent just because of things which may happen afterwards.

Solskjaer would kill to have him at the club. Sadly, these "other offers" will most likely be from Juve, City and Liverpool. We're not in the running for this one.

I wonder what happened to Dembele at Barca?
He'll have to do better than Messi to get back in the headlines.
No consistent playing time and it has affected his form. I guess he'd still put an effort for one or two more seasons. If he doesn't cut it he'll end up like Sanchez or Pedro. Or who knows... He could even end up like Bojan.

Barca are in deep red already. They never pay young players much. Real are also moving away from paying big with their stadium rebuild. City have said time and time again they won't encourage big contracts. PSG is a good shout though.

How many times has the next big thing crashed and burned after a big money move? He just needs to play it cool rather than get ahead of himself.

Let's be fair though, it's very difficult for us to speak for someone in his position. I for one would have no idea, its very easy to sit on a forum and call the shots but this is his life and career.

I'm sure he's giving it far more consideration than the time it takes us to throw a comment together and act like we have any clue about how best to go about this sort of thing.

Choice of car parking space, gets to pick the menu in the canteen, whatever it takes.

I have a feeling he is a thorough professional, but genuinely seems inclined to come to england, be it liverpool, city or united. Obviously, as Raiola is looking after his financial matters, he will extract the best contract possible for de ligt and get a fat percentage cut for himself. As it came earlier in the news, united has offered him a gigantic contract of 250k per week which would be very hard to top by most clubs. I just hope he buys into the rebuild story of united and come here. Won't mind selling Lindelof and Bailly if he does. Sell Pogba and get Varane plus 40 50 million. Get Cillessen from Barca for 25 m. Sell De Gea for 60 m. Also buy van Aanholt as back up of Shaw and to build a little contingent of dutch players to make the little prince feel comfortable. Then we can buy a right back. Ideally Meunier as part of De Gea deal.

We can replace pogba by getting Rabiot for free, Rice or Tielemans for 40 m and Bruno for 60 m.

All those words and he doesn’t even say what position he plays.

Right back, btw. He will be 29 years old when the season starts.

I usually don't agree with going after players in this age range, but with Dalot showing promise? This might make some sense

City, PSG, Madrid, Barca all have more income at their disposal.

I doubt it will solely be about money, though, and we can't offer much else.

You clearly done know other clubs finances. There’s a reason why we pay the second highest in the world. Believe me we aren’t worried about those other clubs. If Barca want him so bad and have the money. Pay up. Or maybe they don’t have it like that.

Madrid and Barca boast larger revenues than we do (we are currently third in the football money league) and City/PSG are backed financially by nation states, with effectively limitless resources at their disposal.

Also, you have it the wrong way round - those clubs are not worried about us (nor do they have any reason to be, as we have amply demonstrated).

He’s asking for a leading role. What’s wrong with that? I think it shows a good mentality that he wants to be a leader. It’s different to “I’m the best” “I’m the prodigy” “I’m better than that club”.

I doubt the Pogba situation will be resolved until late August, at which point our window will already be closed.
He and DDG have been given a deadline to let the club know their intentions

I think he wants Barca but Mino wants him to go elsewhere first to ensure he gets two payouts.
I think he wants to play every week. Barca seem to have a few CBs. Wouldn't surprise me if he stayed at Ajax for another year.

Why not to it anyway? Worst case Barca spends even more on wages than they already do.

I reckon de ligt is the perfect amount of arrogance we need in the club.

Enough to bollock a crap player since he knows hes better, but not enough to undermine the manager.

'wants a leading role' first team football then!

Why is it delayed? Asking for more money? Maybe. Or, Barca want to ensure they trim there wage bill first. If AG does move you can bet your house he'll be on MEGA bucks! So maybe Barca are looking to ensure the sale of another top earner before committing to 2 big deals
