Worrying to see us getting linked to scraps like Arnatukovic and Manzukic because they are warrior like, while our rivals are making progress with the likes of Jorghino, Mahrez, Fabinho etc.

Can people stop this already? Arnautovic/mandzukic are squad players for us while Fabinho is a first team player. If Liverpool would buy a squad player it would be worse than Arnautovic.

Who the hell are you to decide anything? Lukaku is a laughing stock around England, so it’s legitimate to bring it up every time crazy things are said about his impact and ability. Expectations and ambitions have gone down the tubes for some lately.

Lukaku a laughingstock I must have missed that on my travels.

Are players like Fabinho suddenly a level above someone like Mandzukic? Lets be real, we are probably signing Fred in midfield as well, so if we are comparing to Liverpool’s and City’s signings in that area, it’s at least even. I dont get what’s to be worried about. These would be back up forwards. Do you know who Liverpool’s back up forwards are? Solanke and Ings.

Think it’s more City have Augero and Jesus whilst we are signing guys who are not wonder kids or costing £50m+ To satisfy the lust on here for Uber talented youngsters. But if you look at last season when we lost Lukaku as much as we all wanted Rashford to be our 9 he was a mile off in the games. Mandzukic and Arni would have been a much better fit for us as they are better than Rashford at 9. Although I’m not a massive fan of Arni signing he’s a very decent player who would upgrade our squad no doubt. Hopefully we get someone in but if we are working to a budget and have some lined up in other areas who can blame our manager for upgrading for Arni to give him options plus he brings a skill set we don’t have and that’s someone to hold the ball up and a physicality of the bench we will miss if Fellaini leaves.

"A clause in Dalot's contract will allow the Portugal Under-21 international to leave for €20 million from June 1.
But with a host of Europe's top clubs chasing the teenager, sources have told ESPN FC that United are prepared to offer a higher fee to convince Porto to sell before the clause is activated. Sources have told ESPN FC that Bayern Munich and Barcelona are among the clubs interested."

Think Liverpool will end up paying the release clause of Alisson and Real getting Courtois for a cut down fee or for free next summer.

I also think players running down their contract is going to become the norm. I expect a couple of our players to do the same and move for free next summer, Herrera being one.

I think it will be the norm every two years. In seasons before WC/EC, the club and manager can simply use that to force the players hand and sign a new contract. If they want to go to the WC/EC, they've got to play. And they won't play unless they sign a new contract. Didn't LVG do that with De Gea?

No? LVG was selling De Gea, thankfully the fax machine came to our rescue and he signed a new contract.

There was no mention of Jorginho on the caf till after he turned 26 about 6 months ago. Napoli had a good season and suddenly he is a top midfielder.

The Italian Drinkwater, except Drinkwater actually won the league with Leicester
He is very hipster in the hipster team of the season right now so this was always gonna be the case.

Yes, ofc i remember that. But we were only selling De Gea because his contract was running out, and he could sign with Madrid in January. And LVG benched him for the first game of the season IIRC, because he refused to sign a new contract. When the deal with Real fell through/ fax machine came to our rescue, LVG forced De Geas hand to sign a new contract.

How was he forced to sign a new contact? Weird made up narrative.

Hey now, I'm only remembering the headlines/stories from that time. And he was forced by "You sign a contract, or you stay on the bench. I only play motivated players. Good luck in the Euros.".,

Edit: He awas actually omitted from the first 6 games of the season because of the transfer/contract saga.

Never understand posts like this.
Romano seems to have a decent rep and that’s probably what he’s been told. Things change in football and they can’t get everything right. They might be told things by agents or clubs for a number of reasons and a transfer might not happen but that doesn’t make it shite. There is the usual usual tabloid shite, of course, but it’s a bit weird for people just to dismiss everything.
dont dismiss everything, just reacting to a post like that. These so called journalists are believed everything while guessing or writing general things 90% of times especially that journo which makes them sort of all mighty. Simply dont understand why people believe him a thing when he clearly knows very little. As a journalist and a student of journalism myself I simply dont trust them. I aint saying that he doesnt have connection somewhere but some of the stuff these guys write is just laughable..

We're being linked with players like Arnautovic, do you really think that Smolov is that far fetched? He's a big, physical forward too.
I don't really buy these Arnautovic links either. Why would Jose need to scout him in a friendly?? We played West Ham less than a month back. Jose could have scouted him in that match if he was so interested.

I suggest you properly read the articles without assuming from the headline.

The source is someone discussed a while ago. He's not Savic' agent and he's not at Lazio or United.

If we were more than interested it would be reported more.

I am just reporting what I seen mate. Thought this was where you put these stories. I don't believe myself until the club announces it.

Re Lampard at Derby.

Listening to the radio last night there was a large vein of thought from both 'experts' and fans that this was an incredible risk for Derby because of his lack of first team management experience.

However, for the past week, Slippy going to Rangers, has on the whole been lauded as an astounding coup for the Scottish club and the answer to all their prayers.

Strange world.

Lad on Reddit says toilet manufacturer are going on the sleeve which will lead to us getting Griezmann.

*Tips nose* say no more, say no more.

This made laugh. I'm inclined to agree.

Who the hell are you to decide anything? Lukaku is a laughing stock around England, so it’s legitimate to bring it up every time crazy things are said about his impact and ability. Expectations and ambitions have gone down the tubes for some lately.

Really?
I'm hearing this for the first time.

Resorting to making things up. Agenda posting at it's finest.

De Gea didn't want to play because of the uncertainty of his future but still trained with the first team. LVG said the same. After the window closed Del Bosque said he needs to play. De Gea signed a contract then. It was nothing to do with us putting pressure on him.

Maybe we didn't put pressure on him, but the situation certainly inclines it was pressure of some sort.

What does worry me, is that his current contract runs out next summer.

Yeah people are balking at the 50 million fee but its not about how much he is worth to United but the real worth to West Ham to replace him. We should just move on, we're not going to get him for the kind of price we'll want to pay for a backup striker.
