I had been worried he was a LW but looks to be more of either side wide player, should be good depth addition, replacing Mata/Sanchez in rotation.

Sensible fee, somewhere between starter and benchoption. As long as this is not the "main" rw signing.

Given we have no one in that position. I don't think we can be picky.

Also, did all the Sancho for 100 Mil fans catch his latest game vs Bayern? I maintain that whilst he is gifted he is nowhere near ready to influence games. The price tag is really way too much.

He's not someone who will take us up a level. Plus he prefers to play on the left doesn't he? Or am I wrong? Pretty well stocked there, even if the options have spotty form.
Would assume Rashford is going to be striker only from now. We would need another left winger if so.

From what I have seen Lozano likes to run in behind and get in the box a lot from wide which all our attackers bar maybe Lingard lack at. So could be a nice option in terms of opening up space for others and playing a more fluid front line.

Thats why we hopefully will wait until next summer.

Rumored to be available for 40 million euros. Very good option for that price IMO

Yes. Add a creator (T. Hazard, Suso, Sarabia etc) and we will have decent attacking options going into next season.
Signing Lozano should be dependent on the price and availability of Chukwueze, as he might be the next big thing.

Aye, if we manage to get Lozano for around 50mil it would be a good value buy and allows us to address the foundations in midfield, as well as the right back option.

So in a game where Dortmund were destroyed 5-0 away to their title challengers, Sancho did not do anything and that's reflective of his quality? How about the fact he had a great game against Bayern at home in their 3-2 win?

Was against this when I first heard the rumour, but if we are buying him to replace Sanchez and it won't affect our pursuit of Sancho / Hudson-Odoi this summer or next I think it's a good signing. We need someone to play on the right and if he can play on the left too even better. Sounds like he actually wants to play for us, fairly low fee and if he's as hard working as Chicharito was could turn out to be a cracking signing.

Lozano would be such an underwhelming signing. Got absolutely nothing outstanding about him. Would be quite typical of our transfer business in the last few years though.

We have been doing just that for the last few years and somehow all those transfers or most of them have flopped. I'm OK with Meunier but is Manolas way better than what we have? How sure are we that Pellegrini can make the step up

In an ideal world I think we could shop exclusively from a higher tier of established stars for sure. However, given the size of the rebuild at hand I think we may have to roll the dice on some of these cannier purchases.

For what it's worth I think Meunier would be ideal, both in terms of his attacking play style and age to allow Dalot/Laird to eventually transition. Also - big deal for me - a longstanding admitted UTD fan. We need to build some passion back into this team asap.

Pellegrini looks a great talent and at his buyout is a nobrainer for me, despite N'dombele / Neves / Barella looking better fits for our current system. I think we'll need two CM's either way so, would be a nice cheap option to fill one of those slots.

Manolas I'm less sure about. We have plenty of middling options there, I worry he'd go down the Mustafi route and be much of muchness. Good player though for sure, maybe he'd be great? Would prefer someone like Skriniar / Koulibaly ideally.

Played more on right than left so far this season and has a very good goals and assist return. For me he would clearly take us up a level from Lingard and Mata.

Would be a brilliant buy at what is reported to be a very reasonable price, all for it. Sancho as well would be the perfect scenario and along with Greenwood's promotion would leave us stocked for years to come.

Oh if only it was this easy ey.

Arsenal and Chelsea?

Hazard is the one who looks like he wants out at Chelsea having delivered them a level of performance light years above anything the players in our squad have delivered in the past six years.

Arsenal should be in no way, shape or form a benchmark for us. That we are even calling them a rival at this stage says it all about our position. Do you think City consider them competition?

Pogba the best player at the club and United academy graduate? Same guy that was vilified for saying we should play attacking football? somehow he doesn’t get the mentality of the club because of a drop in form?

Hassle follows him around. He's our best player when he's at it, which is probably half a season maximum.

Lozano might be a great addition. But the last thing united need is a left winger, we already have those. I REALLY don't want United yet again buy another player for a position that's already filled. It's just a waste, unless he's good for the right or the attacking mid position or something.

feck me this logic is the worst kind of logic

Ah, a code name. That should put people off the scent...

Isn't the definition of a code name something that should make the actual operation secret? A bit like the Enigma machine throwing out the same code that was typed into it.

I'd love Lozano here. Pacey, direct, makes intelligent runs in behind and has a bit of fire about him. I think he'd be a great addition on either side.

May be unjustified, but I just don't trust signing attackers from the Dutch league anymore. Their numbers just don't translate into the EPL.

I genuinely didn't know that, will look it up. Mind you my comment is not so much about his quality, which I believe he has. But I've tried to watch some of the more competitive Dortmund fixtures, clearly missed the one vs Bayern early doors.

I'm not really sure what point you are making here.

Which part? The part where I don't think we will have the necessary pull to bring in some of the players mentioned over competitors?
Or the part where I don't currently see Sancho as a player worth 100mil?

Based upon how nearly all our transfers have gone in the last 5 years, I'm just going to assume that whomever we sign will do one of three things

1. Look brilliant for two games then turn incredibly shit and stay that way (Sanchez, Di Maria, Darmian, Bailly, Mkhitaryan)

2. Look shit or average right off the bat and stay shit or average (Depay, Schneiderlin, Blind, Rojo, Falcao, Fred so far)

3. Look shit at the start then eventually, after a season or so, become better (Lindelof, Shaw, Romero, Fellaini)

Zlatan, Matic and Lukaku are probably the only players we've bought in recent years who came in and had a pretty good first season. Zlatan didn't get the chance to continue and Matic and lukaku both regressed in season two.

Pogba would have fit into the two great games then shit category, but he kind of does this in a repeated pattern. Great for 4-5 games, then awful for 10 games.

I've always done the fan thing where in my head every player we sign is going to be awesome. I'm going to break that cycle this year and hope to be pleasantly surprised

Thats what I thought too....

When was Sanchez ever brilliant? He belongs in the second category.

I think that's the opinion after Memphis.

You also have Eriksen, Vertonghen and Alderweireld who have gone on to be key PL players.

De Ligt and De Jong will go on to be top players too.

How is Lozano for the national team? Is he the key player?

Hassle follows him around. He's our best player when he's at it, which is probably half a season maximum.

what hassle? the guy leads a private life, and is a model professional and leader by most accounts of everybody that has managed him except Mourinho, who happens to have a track record of falling out with multiple players, so.....

The part where you're trying to say that one match defines a player and how good they are
