What's wrong with hidden gems if they have the right profile and quality?

Livetpool got Robertson for £8m. Absolutely fantastic business. Salah for, what was it, £40m? Bargain.

Harry Maguire for £20m would've improved us. Gundogan, a risk yes, but what did they pay? Less than £20m wasn't it? Davinson Sanchez for about £40m.

So that's 5 quality players for £120m. Then let's say £80m left over for a RB and another CM and we'd have a fantastic squad.

Nothing is wrong with hidden gems, it is what I would like to see, was just making the comment in terms of 200m not being that much of a war chest as it seems. When you mention Sanchez a young player with pretty much a season and a bit in a smaller league being great business for 40m (not saying he isnt just again making a point) it emphasises the point I was making.
I dont see Maguire personally as a target we should be going for, to me he is just a good English centre back which is getting him over hyped considering the English centre backs at the moment are pretty poor as a whole.
I would love us to sign an Ascacibar rather than an SMS or Jorginho in cm for instance so I agree with you....sadly looking at Mourinhos transfer business bar Bailly to a degree he has gone for athletic proven players within the leagues though so far so I dont expect us to make any in the summer

Rubbish. Martial has had tempered impact this season and it's been our best since SAF retired. Pogba has blown hot and cold.

We don't want them to leave but we have proven we can bring in quality regardless of European status and manager.

Totally agree. Martial is a huge talent but losing him we havent actually lost much in terms of what he has done for the club so far if we are honest....and in my opinion he should be up front not wide, which is obviously not going to happen so is he a benefit to us, we certainly arent to him. Pogba my view difffers on, still think we need a 3rd midfielder to partner him as Herrera isnt quite the man and Fellaini never has or will be and we cant fully justify relying on McTominay. Pogba needs another season

Those are some worrying quotes for Man Utd fans. Pogba is a generational talent in terms of midfielders and you can‘t just buy the next one because there are only so many and the best players already are at the biggest clubs usually. Martial is certain to leave and now Pogba... Those two were the only shot of competing with the best clubs quality wise in a few years.

We've finished above the likes of Liverpool and Spurs by quite a sizeable margin without Martial doing much.

Pogba I'd agree with, but the blow of Martial leaving is overstated on here. He's an excellent talent but hasn't been instrumental in any of our trophy wins ever since Jose has come on here.

Not sure how it's a worrying quotes when Jose said club and himself have no intention of letting Pogba go, player and his agent didn't even make any noise about it.

If Pogba wants to leave, we’ll let him leave.
If Pogba wants to leave he can feck off. There are players like DDG that I would keep at any price or fight to keep them, Pogba for me isn't one of those players. If he doesn't have the desire to fight here he can enjoy lifting League 1 with PSG every year.

Pogba is going to stay, I want rather martial to go

Such hyperbole about Pogba “generational talent”. He let the midfielders of Sevilla, Brighton, Tottenham, West Brom and several others play him off the park at various times this season,

He also dominated a brilliant City midfield. Yes he has been poor but I didn’t think it was even up debate that Pogba has the potential to be the best midfielder around. His problem is consistency.

If Pogba wants to leave, he's free to leave for a good price. Everyone bar De Gea in the squad is replaceable.

Until Mourinho leaves and we need to rebuild again because of all the old robots he signed. Then we moan why did we get rid of Pogba and Martial.

So truth is, he is no better than those? Or what exactly is your point?

Those quotes aren't exactly reassuring.

We'll probably replace him with some old midfielder.

I think with the wages Pogaba is currently on/will want and the fee we will demand mean a move away is highly unlikely. No way we would sell for a loss and given his age and profile United would surely be using Dembele and Coutinho as realistic benchmarks for a sale price.

I don't think Barcelona want him. Madrid didn't want him at 90 mil and have more pressing concerns in freshening up their front line. Bayern would probably baulk at the 300K+ wages given Lewandowski is currently their highest paid player at 225K per week. Can't see us doing business with City. Chelsea have cooled it on the spending.

PSG seem the likely option but would that attract Pogba, especially given Neymar's experiences this season.

I expect a new contract for Pogba after a bit of posturing. Like it or not, I think both sides need to make this work given the money involved.

The shit Mou haters come up with is hilarious

I’d happily swap Martial for Bale he’s a far better player and in a position we are weak. Rashford will fill that gap and Martial if not happy being here then as far as I’m concerned see you later buddy.

We have not sold any yet but if Martial leaves and we replace him his loss won’t be huge. Sanchez is better and Rashford/Martial are hard to split.

He’s a better player but his age and injury record are a big turn-off for me.

Finally some sense. Off course we have no intention to sell our most talanted player who’s two year into his contract. And btw the only club who could afford him is heavily burdened by FFP and must sell some assets before buying new ones.

Martial is a different case. If the right opportunity arrives regarding transfer fee and availability of quality replacements then I think nothing is impossible. And just so there is no misunderstanding. I don’t want him sold.

I’m sure Chelsea fans would be a lot more satisfied if they still had De Bruyne and Salah on the books. Unless Mourinho is winning league titles he does nothing to preserve the longivity of the club. He need not buy Pogba’s and Lindelof’s of this world because he can’t develop talent. So this summer I expect ready made signings if he wants to win the league not players who need improving to get to the next level. We will win frig all.

Well I can imagine there are several players who don't enjoy the system and philosophy, that I think can happen, and when you are players with top potential like Martial, Pogba, you may wanna play more attacking football.. I think you'd be fool to think that Martial is totally happy and Pogs doesn't seem delighted either...wheather they leave is another thing

Don't see the point in bringing Salah up, he's had a freak season, and put in a performance he'd probably never have been capable of anywhere else in a different system.

If he’s really trying to push Justin Kluivert to a big club this early then he really doesn’t give a feck about his clients.

You’d think his father would know better.

Yeah, the move does seem very unlikely. It would take both Pogba/Raiola extreme pressure and a big club offering huge money. I'm pretty confident he'll stay.

One thing, though. Madrid didn't want him at 90 million at the time because he wasn't needed. At this point, Madrid need fresh blood in their midfield and have to go in the market for one with Pogba price being same, or not much higher than before. And in Casemiro, Modric/Kroos they have exactly the midfield which can provide Pogba with the set up in which he could thrive. Not so impossible scenario from their point of view.

What’s that got to do with getting the best out of him?
How do you know this isn't Pogbas best?
He's been a very good player for us, I just don't think his style lends itself to KDB like consistency.

My earlier statement stands regardless of the manager. If our manager is underperforming for an extended period, he will be sacked in due time. In the mean time, we need players who appreciates our club stature and wants to fight for the club like Carrick, Lukaku, Herrera etc.

Man this post is like bullshit bingo. If you're not actually aware of Jose's extended history of signings (which you clearly aren't) then don't post such crap. There's plenty of players at all his previous clubs that benefited from his coaching including one of the best ever to play the game.

Educate me? What young player with potential has benefited from his coaching? The best to ever play the game? You talking abt Ronaldo? Who like Messi basically plays unmanaged? Come better please.
