Yes it is a risk that managers have to assess and balance, spend too little and the team may not be strong enough to progress, spend all and there may not be enough to dominate the reinforcement round

I loved Aimar too. Had a similar issue as you with the comparison to Riquelme. JRR was consistently more successful but Aimar the one I liked more. Jizzed myself thinking of him at United, although I have no idea how he would fit given how we lined up at the time.

That 1997 U20 World Cup generation had Riquelme, Aimar, Cambiasso, Samuel... yet it was two Uruguayans getting Golden and Silver Boot. In the weeks after the tourno they got bought for peanuts to go benchwarm playing reserves for big European clubs and their talent got wasted :(

How will this work?

If I put in someone now and someone raises on him after that deadline. I may not be able to raise back due to lack of money.

Yeah that is an issue.

Say if you need 1 player and you have exactly 10m, you nominate and bid 10m for a player, deadline expires and after that it is outbid by someone and now it has gone out of reach of the manager who nominated him.

So at this point he has to nominate someone for 15 which he doesn't have

Looking back on it Veron would almost certainly not have been signed if we'd gotten Aimar, and he might have ended up playing behind RVN with Scholes dropping back to midfield where he was more comfortable?

If the player is already nominated before 29 March 0200 hrs, even if Crappy's bid come in after that time, it will start at 10 m

With the ultra-attacking full backs I think he'd be best off with a 4-3-3, as Scholes and De Rossi aren't exactly defensively watertight as a midfield two. There's a very obvious specialist holding midfielder who would round off that midfield nicely.

Aldo, pls see my post above, nominations without bids will expire after 12 hrs. After that it will be up to other managers to nominate them. The same manager cannot keep hogging the nomination spot without bidding.

What if someone bids for your first choice after 12 hours? The others would have expired by then.

I'm not completely sold on your defence but your attacking four is awesome. The proven Rooney-Ronaldo partnership is a big bonus. Ronaldo/Shearer doesn't seem like a natural fit, but when I think about it there's no real reason why it shouldn'twork.

Then the manager has the choice of raising the bid to seal the deal for the 1st player or turn their attention to a second player. Managers can bid for a player whose nomination has previously lapsed (bidding will start at 10 m if the player was previously nominated before the deadline), just not re-nominating ad nauseum just to hog the nomination spot, preventing others from nominating
