Gullit was cheap for 25 millions, his ability to be counted as a DM/CM should have pushed his tag up. Great player in nearly every position on the pitch, except possibly as a full-back.

In all seriousness though, the big squad with lots of options with most players was deliberate, I understand the wisdom in picking a system one is comfortable with and buying the players to suit, there is a sense of purpose to that approach which makes the side easier to sell in the game stages.

However, I picked the theme and thought it would be fun to acquire as many names as possible and try to beat teams tactically based on their likely set-up.

It's basically going to delay my inevitable breakdown until just before the games actually start this time rather than in the middle rounds of our previous snake drafts.

I rate him higher lower down in the pitch unless you play a real 4-4-2 where he is supposed to be a target man and available inside the box. His best ability was in my opinion his ability to hold on to the ball, completely glued to him even up against the very best tacklers and defensive players.

His primary skills were something that translates well to all positions, his defensive work-rate, vision, physicality and intelligence for example are universal.

I think he was signed to Milan to play as a CM, replacing Ray Wilkins and ended up playing as a RM/RW before being moved centrally. Of course with Rijkaard coming in not long after - his physicality wasn't really something Milan were lacking in the central midfield area.

He played sweeper, libero, CB, CM, DM, Second striker, Striker and RAM and did great in all of them.

Gullit has more individual awards to his name than Rijkaard which shows just how highly rated he was during his career. Of course being played in more offensive positions helped out a lot, but still impressive to rack up individual awards in "Dutch/world player of the year" awards against the likes of Rijkaard, van Basten, Koeman etc.

That is what I feel as well, think he would do just fine in a two or three man midfield due to those attributes and could really play anywhere across the pitch.But dunno if the scan voters will see it that way.

They won't see it like that but this draft has no real scan-vote winners being stacked up in any side. Most sides are built around players that the scan-voters will have just heard of but have no real in-depth knowledge about.

So hopefully people take their time to read, I think the WC draft or any draft with older players means the voters does a much better job. So hopefully they read your reasoning and proofs on why Gullit could play there.
