Transfer Chat

Not sure if it's the right thread, but great control and goal by Bale today. He has definitely come a long way. Scrawny Welsh kid from a Championship Southampton team all the way to spearhead a multi-Champions League winning team. Stuff of dreams.

the guy is top class. one of the best players Britain's ever produced for me. cant believe people were actually picking Willian over him in this thread at times. just a pity he never ended up here.

People were picking Willian not due to ability as a whole.

1. Bale is very, very injury prone.
2. Bale would cost twice as much in both fee and wages.
3. Bale didn't want to come here. Willian did (if reports were to be believed).

Bale is obviously world class but don't make it sound like people were saying Willian was better.

Willian is not a more effective player than Bale in a player for player comparison, there's no argument there.

But Willian is a different type of player, so could be more effective for you overall. He is available more often than Bale and his work-rate is exceptional too. Having him on the right of a front 3 at Chelsea allows Hazard more freedom on the other flank, which is why I think Mourinho wanted him. Mourinho has been playing Mata and Lingard a lot on the right, as it balances out having Sanchez, Rashford or Matial on the left. Willian is an upgrade to both and would give United a lot more balance. Same could be said of Peresic who Mourinho wanted last season.

Bale would win you points on his own, but the team doesn't look as balanced with him in there.

Ideally, you'd get both and ship out Sanchez!

1. Bale wasn't injured most of last season Zidane just never fancied him
2. Bale is more then twice the player Willian is and lets be honest fans shouldn't really care about wages and fee's that's the clubs business
3. if reports are to be believed up until Zidane resigned Bale was willing to come to United, Willian quickly changed his mind as well when Conte was sacked.

if you put them both up on a poll of who you want here then it should be 100% Bale, should be no doubts about it. if you got half a season out of Bale it would still be better for the club then having Willian for a season.

1. That's exactly why he wasn't injured. No minutes = no injuries.
2. We're not City/PSG, we have a budget. I'm sure people who've rather preferred Willian and one of: CB/RB/LB for the same money.
3. Bale said countless times he's happy and has no intention of leaving Madrid.

If Bale had Willians fitness levels we would. No one ever questions Bales ability for most people it's the injury record. Taking a gamble on him based on the money that would be spent would be idiotic. Transfers are gamble as it is, you don't wanna be paying through the nose for an injury prone player.

We'll never get anyone of them any time soon so don't understand the discussion tbh. Ronaldo leaving killed our chances for getting Bale once and for all. Shame.

Think it's pretty obvious Bale for 10 games a season would be better than Willian for 10 years.

Huge gamble but he is so good I think we drop way less point against the Brighton's of the world and surely see off teams like Sevilla.

Yes.

10 games of Bale being great versus whole seasons of Willian being ineffective and crap?

We might actually win those 10 Bale games and not drop points against the likes of Brighton thanks to the individual brilliance. Willian would do nothing to improve us.

Delusion.

Bale is not coming here. They just shipped out Ronaldo and him and Benzema are now in the spotlight. They're loving life now. Willian? I'd rather get Pulisic or Chucky Lozano.

Funny that people are painting Bale as a guy who made the difference, because they only watched Madrid in the finals.

If he is so capable of shifting games and winning points by himself, why did Madrid win 1 out of 5 leagues with him.

Yeah, ability wise I don’t think anyone (in their right mind!) would have Willian over Bale!

He's great, top 3 or 4 in the world. Real Madrid will now know how good he is after the departure of Ronaldo. I can only hope against hope that we have him ourselves

you do realise most his injuries don't happen in games its mainly training ?
we never got a CB/RB/LB anyway well apart from a young lad who played 6 games
maybe you should do back and watch his interview after the CL final

we spent 90m on Pogba, majority of our fee's and wages we pay out have been idiotic of late and another one wouldn't change that. if he plays he performs and like a said bales output in half the games of willian would still be miles ahead. he's a big game player and serial matchwinner. something we seriously lack here.

Funny how you're jumping to conclusions about how often people have watched Bale. Nowhere did I say I'd only watched Bale in a final.

Bale, no question, injuries apart, this guy is top top top draw, he can destroy teams. Score headed goals free kicks, pace power energy. And Real will never let him go.

Logically speaking, Pogba is the person to build the team around. He's our brand ambassador in a way. After Rooney left, the mantle was supposed to be passed onto Pogba. If there's anyone I would like to ship out would be Sanchez. He's a great player no doubt... hardworking player who tracks back and helps the team out but his end product on the attacking side hasn't been all that great and it could very well be because of the way we play. I feel the Arsenal style of play suited him way better with Ozil constantly looking for him. At United, even though we have Pogba but the lack of a proper No. 10 is severely hampering Sanchez. I think he needs to be shipped out. It would be a shame but unless Mourinho changes his formation or we bring in a new manager that changes our style of play, I don't see Sanchez providing any consistency. He's on big wages as well. I would however like to invest any sale of Sanchez on someone quick on the right wing who can gel well with Dalot. Dalot provides phenomenal overlap and crossing ability which means we could still proceed with an inverted winger. The players that come to mind that would take us to another level in attack are Douglas Costa and Ousmane Dembele and Mbappe but it's almost impossible to get any of those. My outside bet would be to go for Neres from Ajax for the RW. He's got pace, trickery and what I like most about him is his ability to ride tackles instead of going down easily. He's about 5'10 which isn't bad at all although he looks shorter than Richarlson who is also said to as 5'10.

The other player that's a no brainer is Frankie De Jong. The guy is definitely a superstar in the making. He reminds me of Cruyff a lot. We need to get this guy even if it means paying 50m for him.

De Jong and Neres are definitely someone we should have pre-contracts for in the Jan to being them in the summer. De Ligt is also said to be an emerging CB from Ajax whose terrific. That's one to keep an eye on as well.

Sometimes I do think, maybe if we didn’t sign Alexis, we could have a proper assessment of Martial.

If not we could have been in the Ronaldo race, I think it’s awful that he’s at Juventus if I’m honest.

I actually think Sanchez stinking up the place shows how well Martial was doing on the left under Jose, puts things into perspective for some fans

So basically buy Ajax yeah?

A future ideal and strong central line to build a team around.

De Ligt from Ajax - CB, De Jong from Ajax - CM - Marcus Rashford CF. Then you have a strong central line to build the team around, for around next 10 years. Add to this central spine with such very good players like Pogba, Koulibaly -CB, Witsel DCM and Sancho RW. It will be a strong line up.

But most important, the central spine. GK, CB, CM and CF. If you have top quality on those area and position. Your team have pontential to get top 4 and win big thing each year. A top quality central spine is really important to achieve success.

For me the biggest problems are on the LB and RB position. The players often have wrong positioning on flanks and generally in reverse action. In my opinion we should try to sell Valencia and Young in the winter to get money for them. Also if we get just 5mio for each. Then we should go for Hernandez from Atletico and just my favourit Sidibe from Monaco. Both are from France and should integrate easily with Pogba and Martial.

In the Summer we should try to get De Ligt and De Jong from Ajax. Both are young talented Players and then they are still together which should help them in a new county and team. And just an idea of mine, as I read about the interest from Juventus on Lukaku and now that Dybala want to play again with Pogba and also about the interest from Juventus on Isco. Maybe we can make a swap between Lukaku and Dybala. If Solskjaer stay as manager he fits better in our dynamic system . And all out of that we should try to offload players. In my opinion we have to much CBs with Rojo, Lindelöf, Smalling, Bailly and Jones. I would sell Smalling, Rojo and Bailly. And try to get De Ligt and Tuanzebe in the summer. And also Fellaini has no future under Solskjaer.

Don't want to derail the other thread further, so I'm quoting here.

I'd prefer Barella or Neves but Ndombele would be a good Herrera replacement and good to see a Meunier link, one of the smartest buys we could make.

Genuinely asking, why? Haven't watched him, so that's why I'm asking.

If we're signing a Lyon player I'd rather it be Aouar, but Ndomele is alright.

If Pogba moves on, he'd be ideal.
