Tour de France 2005

No way. Lance has done it again and again only behind a totally dominant team centring its entire existence around 21 days of the season, and just the GC at that. Lance will never earn a place next to the true greats because he has simply never proven himself without a huge advantage.

LOL right  he's part of that "dominant" team you go on about. where's it been up untill today - he rode alone. sounds like sour grapes. 6 in a row live with it. he'll do that happily. those other greats won and lance has past them. his biggest win is something those guys never had to deal with. if he wins 7 on the trot some like you will still be on about something or other. 6 in a row - that's what the fat german must be thinking after his 6th beer tonight. you're right he's no way near those others he's past them. the poor weak teams the badger had. bo feckin ho. he and another teamate ran the race to the finish one year didn't they (la mond). some weak team that was.

one talking head mentioned that while lance has been winning his teammates haven't won a stage. untill today's race.

Of course none of his team had won a stage... they all run themselves into the dirt towing Lance 95% of the way, and as the team focus is solely on Lance there is never a sprinter included in the team to compete in the flat stages, nor is there ever active participation in breaks. The lack of stage wins by other riders is a huge indication of just how big an advantage Lance has had! Difference is while the likes of Basso, Valverde, Cunego et al ride to win the other grand tours Lance just rides the one and gets towed by riders good enough to win grand tours in their own right.

Don’t knock them. Speaking from personal experiences those folk are a godsend for two reasons. First the kindly souls throwing water keep you conscious, while secondly the only thing stopping you getting off your bike and collapsing in a heap in the amount of people ready to witness your shame. Then of course in the old days (and still today in bad weather) you’ve got the old men shoving newspapers to you to avoid freezing on the descent. They may be fanatical, but that makes them so valuable. No one sane would ever make the journey! Fact is they turn out for the elite races, they turn out for the second division races, and most even turn out for a sportive.

not knocking the fans per se, just the idiots that get in front of the bikes and the ones that insist on running alongside for more that 3 yds.

Lance Drugmstong...

Did you know that Lance donated the UCI a second machine for testing blood doping?

Anyway, hate him or like him, he's unbeatable.

 Do you know Lance's personal doctor and best friend is in jail because of drugs.

I thought his best friend was Cheryl Crow. Anyway, in which country and for which drug offences?

T Mobile - useless bunch of wankers.

Such a stupid policy - put your 3 best riders on the road and let them ride against each other. Any one of them has it in them to win the stage, but there can be only one team leader.

just to say again, congrats to Lance and his team mates and his crew. quite an amazing achievement for him and the sport.

To win the Tour once is an amazing feat, but 7 times????

Armstrong is one of the greatest athletes ever to live without a doubt.

Are people 100% confident that he is drug free?

I'd like to think he is but given that he is beating people that have been done for drug taking makes me wonder.

A guy who works in the office is a massive tour fan and even he isn't so sure. I'll admit i don't know enough about the sport to be able to say for certain. Like i said i'd like to think he is.

the questions have always been there. even Lance himself said that he was sick of the accusations that have been going on for years. it's one reason he won't miss living in Europe he said.

now he can "retire" back to Texas and have fun with his kids. if he was as dominant in a major sport (like golf, etc) he'd never have to work again. wonder what he has planned?

could always open up a bike shop I suppose. ;)

My only thought it that he was beating guys who HAD taken drugs, and beating them well.

But then again he's retired now and 99% couldn't even complete the tour once let alone at the speed and in the time scale that they do it.

LOL at the total denial in your posts. bitter aren't you? 7 times champion live with it. the rest are now footnotes in the history books. (not really but if i was as thick as you i'd believe that)
