They lost to the Slovaks on purpose. They didn't want to play against Canada.

Yup, the czech republic owned Canada yesterday. Cananda won because of 2 mistakes from Vokoun in the first period. But Canada might surprise in playoffs.
 
Fairly worrying that Sweden decided to lose yesterday, shows that they are serious and have a new attitude. A few years back they would have done anything to win and then be tired and lose the quarter. Notice that the swedish press aren't happy about it, but that's just stupid. If you can take it easy in the quarters not only will be fresh for the semi. Good choice by Bengt-Ake IMO.

The reaction here in Sweden is hilarious. People want Bengt-Åke to resign and stuff:lol:

And I'm worried about Canada they always up their game when things are serious and the group stage setup is shit so I doubt Canada even played at 80% even though having big defenders isn't always a good thing with the new rules. But Sweden will lose against Slovakia or the Czech in the semis so I don't have to worry about them anyway.

:lol: yeah I knew it wouldn't go down well with the public. You notice that these players have been in north america for some time where the end result is what matters. The swedish "everybody MUST play" / sportsmanship - attitude doesn't work here anymore. Or might work, but you might pay for it in the end.

Yeah, Canada got the toughest draw though, against the best team and more importantly best moving team in the tournament. They might be in for one hell of a ride today.

I am also skeptical, or very worried, about Finland. Finns generally perform very badly when made favorites (just look at our skirs and ski-jumpers) This is the situation today which is worrying. Lets just hope these guys don't have this menthality anymore. Anyways, I would consider USA favorites today :)

Anyways, will be a rough day at work today :eek: Have to be at a fecking clients place and look sharp and all one can think about is the hockey today.

maybe but losing on purpose to get a weaker opponent in the next game has often backfired on people. The Swiss have nothing to lose, got a hot goaltender and a solid defensive system.
If they manage to squezze in a goal early then the Swedes are in trouble.
 
Ok, I will try my prediction:

Finland - USA = USA (psychological issue, I have such a feeling, that Finland "will do Otawa Senators")
Sweden - Swiss = Sweden (I would like them to suffer for their "sport spirit", but will be simply too good for the Swiss)
Canada - Russia = Canada - Russia (Canada, if they can get a 2 goals lead; Russia if they score first goal)
Slovakia - Czech = heart is saying Slovakia, head is saying Czech
