Television Top Gear

Just saw episode 2(?) and it was much better than the 1st one.

The 200mph cars were interesting, although I was seriously pissed off about Paddy crashing the Lambo  :(

The write off cars weren't even that silly. Even the wall of death created a fair bit of tension and was actually rather interesting too.

So less silly than the first one.

How beautiful did that Jaguar not look doing 200mph, used to have a little figurine of it as a child one of my favourite cars.

The XJ220 looked absolutely fantastic. A victim of the recession, and delayed release and running out of money.

I love it at the minute.

All three seem to get on like a house on fire, it doesn't feel forced like a lot of the OG three's 'fun' did.

The segments and quality of filming/editing are as good as ever.

Also can't argue with a series that includes the F40, XJ220 and Diablo and also goes on a roadtrip of North Wales (recognised everywhere they went from my own roadtrips, very jealous).

Stirling Moss was, is and always will be a hero.

Damn, cancer apparently.

Awful news, she was always so full of life. Big fan of hers.

Ah that's sad she always great even when the rest on the show were terrible.

Was surprised to read this as she's one of those people who energise others with their own zest for life. When I read she'd died, first assumption was a car crash, but as it's cancer, I guess those in her circle knew of, and were preparing for this for some time now.

Great shame. The kind of person who gave others encouragement to be bolder in their own endeavours and approach to life.

I haven't watched any of the 'new' Top gear, and didn't even know she was undertreatment for cancer. RIP

Will never forget her driving a van and destroying Jeremy's lap time in a jaguar.

Anyone been watching this? I've fell asleep through them both so far...

No watched a few of them and it is rubbish now. Forced chemistry and some truly horrible presenting skills mostly by Flintoff. It needs put out of its misery

Watched the dad car segment a few weeks ago, turned it off after 10 minutes. Fake sentimental nonsense to cover up a poorly thought out idea

Yeah it's a shame as this series could be hard to judge given the filming restrictions and COVID. I usually enjoy the filming on location around the world but obviously that's not possible now and the ideas seem to have dried up.

I like Flintoff, Paddy and Harris though. Best since the old guard.

Dad car? Didnt Clarkson and co do that years ago?

Not sure. This was buying the cars their dads had in their youth then pretend they had were in posession of the holy grail.
It wasnt 3 old cars thst fell apart etc, they just... Drove.
They might, just might, have had emotional ties to them but all we saw was Paddy driving a Cortina for 20 minutes.

Terrible wasn't it, all this fake sentimentally about "its my dads car", give it a rest.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Clarkson May and Hammond did that too plus the wetting themselves driving thing as well.

I guess they have run out of ideas

Thought last night was the best one of the three and enjoyed the 4x4 segment. Just wish Flintoff had been given another genuine off road vehicle to compare with the G Wagon and Defender, maybe a more budget level one.

Just finished watching the Sabine special. It was a really nice tribute, and nice to see everyone back on camera to share their memories.

I honestly think Sabine was my favourite ever presence on Top Gear. You always knew something funny and interesting would happen when she was on screen. It would have been great if she'd been a series regular at some point. I don't know if the decision not to was down to her or the BBC, but they missed a trick on that one. Alas, we'll never get the chance now :(

I remember both the Evel Kenevil toy, and Eddie Kidd from the 70s/80s and that was an amazing watch. Moving, heartfelt and brilliant all at the same time. I think that this threesome, schoolboys that they often are, are really really good

I had never heard of Kidd before and I still ended up in tears over that segment, really good stuff and a great tribute.

I also agree on the new trio, they get way too much crap thrown their way simply because they aren't Clarkson, Hammond and May. The old guys perfected their show over two decades yet some people seem to think that Harris&co should be just as good right out of the gate which is obviously BS, they do make a great show and it's only getting better for each season imo.

Not laughed at anything as much as Flintoff on that final chilli for a long while!
