Top 4 Race 19/20 | duffer: "We [Chelsea] are getting 3rd. Despite what the lunatics in here think, Man United are not all that."

Big blow for us tonight. Would have been happy with a draw. I think we could still leapfrog Chelsea, but with the result tonight, I think they are now strong favorites for third.

Our Goal Difference vs Leicester means we need to be within 2 points of them by the final game of the season; I’m positive given our run in but we need to win every game which is dicey.

City were never going to beat Chelsea, i have no idea why anyone thought they would when they had nothing to play for .

The hard games are the ones against teams with something to play for whether its trying to avoid relegation or qualify for europe . Never games like this

It was never in our own hands and we are only to blame for that. The number of times this season where we played after Chelsea knowing they didn’t have a good result only to match or worsen it has cost us. All we can do is win our remaining games and hope other teams do us a favour.

Leicester are probably the one to catch. Just gotta be positive though as we've still 3 stabs to get into the champions league - top 4, City's ban and Europa League. So I'm still confident.

The many many garbage results against shit teams put us in this position. Still a chance though of course.

I actually think this result has really dented our chances. Proper disappointing, but let’s keep winning and see.

We're not finishing in the top 4. Hopefully City get at least one year of that ban.

Just got a lot harder. More chance of catching Leicester than Chelsea but I don't see either happening.

Think chelsea has it now, though still games to play. Leicester play Everton, Arsenal and Spurs away. Those are our chances to cut the gap down before we play them on the final day, but it will definitely come down to that game now.

Sterling and that relegation level City defense just managed to make things harder for us.

That Sterling miss might just cost us top 4 in the end.

Leicester have a fairly tough run-in though and we play them on the last day. That's our slim hope.

Still a lot of points to win and lose. Dont over-react. Big win for Chelsea but they are far from home

Given remaining fixtures, our only hope for top 4 lies with Leic dropping points. Chavs are gone now. That final game at Leic looking tasty now.

The United team have no one to blame except themselves. If failing to qualify for champions league and mediocrity does not stare up some fight in them next season then I don't think they are United quality.

No. Losses to Burnley, Newcastle, Watford, Bournemouth et al. might cost us Top 4; pre-Bruno we were not good enough or anywhere near.

That City court date in the "first 10 days of July" is critical then.
As may be the Europa.

But we always knew this. We gave ourselves a massive battle from the average first half of the season

Everton away, arsenal away, spurs away before we play them. More than enough chances there to catch up 6 points.
Maybe but like tonight when many thought it was a sure defeat for Chelsea, Leicester and us will also get unexpected results.

Massive blow that. Chelsea were suspect at times that game (Sterling really should have made it 2-1), and mostly created off of horrific City mistakes, but they've been very solid since the restart. If they'd drawn tonight I'd be pretty confident of making up the 3 points, but looks like we might have to rely on Leicester's slide continuing. At this point I really need City's ban being upheld for some security, I don't care how we get UCL.

European football might not even happen but I think just getting it would be huge for attracting players this summer.

Couldn't we have bought bruno in august itself
Feckers penny pinching only to buy him in January.

Chelsea aren’t losing top four from here; even though City were poor, Chelsea were really up for it and spirited in general - they’re not going to throw it away from here.

It has to be Leicester if we’re finishing above 5th, but even that isn’t guaranteed since Wolves won’t feck-off.

Not set in stone but i fancy us big time to get top 4 now. This hard run in everyone mentioned was based around playing city and liverpool. Only Liverpool left and apart from them our run in now isnt that difficult, really

Much more confident now

If we don't make it, we don't make it. You can't say we've deserved it on most of the seasons form, we've been shite more often than not, yet we're still in with a shout, which is a miracle.

Don't make me get the league table out, I'll do it!

Even you can't think this is a vintage team

It's a league with 2 quality teams - one that has massively under performed due to injuries and a shocking defence, and then a real much of a muchness.

Yeah. Chelsea will surely do it.

Yes but I'm more making a point that Leicester will drop enough points for us to sneak in, we just have to take our chances and go (almost) perfect. Chelsea I don't think will drop enough anymore. Only chance for 3rd ahead of them is us winning all remaining and they lose to Liverpool and drop points against Wolves pretty much.

Think if we win every game, we'll get 3rd. If we draw 1 and win the rest, we'll get 4th IMO. Draw to leicester and one other, and we won't make it in.

It's not the best side we've had for sure but some on here make out as though we are 07/08 Derby County.

I say we go 1 game at a time. Focus on winning our games, stay consistent and hope for a slip up in results for Chelsea. A random draw against those lower teams they're facing while we stay consistent and things are looking tight again.

Sterling and that bottom half City defense did us dirty tonight.
