If you want to talk about Werner of the 16/17 season, when he scored 21 goals (7 assists) in 31 matches, then I can agree that Werner is better than Rashford. Some people here have compared Werner to Lingard, saying he can play as an effective winger for us. I don't think he is a world class winger and if he is played there he will be nothing more than a stop-gap solution that won't improve the first team by a lot, atleast not enough to make us firm title contendors. We should be looking for more natural wingers for the RW/LW position if we really want to make an impact next season, not people like Werner whose natural position isn't there.

3) We already have a great backup striker in either Lukaku or Rashford:

Depending on your preference, either Lukaku or Rashford will be the starting striker leaving the other on the bench. With that, we have two very good strikers already in the squad and if you want to play a mostly 1 striker formation, you don't need more than that. Werner won't be any better than either of them so it would be a waste of financies that can be used elsewhere.

Frankly, I think the striker position is the least of problems for United looking towards next season. Therefore, using 30-40 mil of our financies for a player of that position would be a waste.

This sums up the situation although personally we should offload Lukaku and bring in another striker who has better movement, link up play and all round game.

Werner isn’t the guy for me and also playing him on the RW isnt the answer, we need a natural RW not yet another CF playing on the wing.

This! We've enough forwards with poor technical ability in the most important part of the pitch.

Jovic is just great and would suit us down to the ground.
 
Not a problem area. We don't need a striker, and I would put my faith in Rashford, Lukaku or even Martial as options for the striker position. Unless we are selling Lukaku, this makes no sense.

Also, I would prefer Jovic if we go for anyone.

Bayern are in need of a striker given Lewandowski's age and that they don't have a natural replacement (Gnabry is more stop-gap). We have two very good strikers so there is no need for another.
 
Overrated and very one dimensional.
 
Looks like Fjortoft has just thrown our name into the mix for the sake of clicks. The tweet he's responding to doesn't even mention us and there's no reason to sign Werner when we've already got Rashford.

Rashford and Martial will get better if they are played centrally and coached properly. We don't have unlimited funds to slightly improve positions that are well stocked. Unless it's an unmissable player it seems a waste of money to me. We need a 2012 van Persie if we're buying a striker, not another young forward who is similar in style and performance to our other forwards.
 
I don't mind, our attacks need freshen up. If I have to choose then.. no.

Haven't seen him much, but from the little I've seen (WC and few of his games in German league), he seems to be a speed merchant excel in scoring and at best in counter-attack system where there'll be lots of spaces to exploit. He rarely will get that with us. His finishing or scoring sense is just not that impressive nor does his technique or everything else eg. dribble, pass, ball control, etc etc. Maybe I need to see him perform more.

That was not the point of my post though
 
How much would he cost? If it’s about 20-25m, why not? Extra competition for places aren’t bad and will keep every player’s toes up

He can do the defensive work of a winger but on offense he's a pure striker. Will run behind defenses so he needs a RB that can occupy the flank on his own.
He's not the worst fit if we keep playing long balls behind the defense but there are better options to solve our RW problem. If Lukaku leaves he'd be a good move for depth though.
 
Has been really disappointing for Germany every time I’ve seen him.

I keep expecting this pacey electric forward that Bundesliga fans rate so highly but he just looks like a shit version of Harry Kane every time I watch him play.

Am I wrong, my Bavarian friends?

40m euros is the number most often quoted. If there is a bidding war, I can see it going higher

If Kovac will play his favourite system 3-5-2 next season then Werner to Bayern Munich would make sense......but 4-2-3-1 isn't the right system for him especially at Bayern Munich.

I think a forward line of him, Gnabry, Coman would be quite impressive with quick passing and changing of positions. His early form for Germany did come in a similar formation, though I do agree that he would be better in a 3-5-2 with him and Gnabry as the forwards.
