Three deals before deadline?

I understand the board being reluctant to spend big on a 29+ year old as there'd be little or no chance of recouping the money.

But investing in young talent 'cant surely' be a problem because you're adding valuable assets to the club.

Rio was good business cos he could lead the line for the next 10 years. I dont expect that kind of outlay but 10m on (or even 20m on two) new young players must be within budget.

What am I not understanding peeps??

we could get Cafu on a free...that would completely sort the rb out....if we were so inclined...could sell Phil in January & get some money back

I heard that too, surprised no one's been on for him after his performances in the world cup.

That United are subject to the same economic laws as any other organisation. They can't invest money that they haven't got, just because there is a good investment opportunity or valuable assets available.

I supppose no one tried to get Cafu for free simply because you can't get Cafu for free! He has a contract with Roma.

I don't know about transfers. I don't expect anything to happen now, but I would still find it shocking if we just left Escude to deal with Rennes. We tapped the guy up and then offered a sum we knew wasn't enough. Waited to weeks, offered a sum just higher...

Jesus, if the lad is so good Fergie wants him we should get him for the 3.5 or 4 or 4.5 they want and it should still be a great deal, long term.

Roma are apparently touting Cafu ahead of the deadline on a free...headlinein the Sun (@#~!!)
...40,000 pw in his contact is the problem apparently

i reckon fergie's comments are timed to put pressure on Rennes,as firstly they have a very unhappy player, and secondly they have a decent offer.

Decent, just about. In all honestly, the lad is probably worth more.

Oh well, if the Sun says so it must be true. Wasn't it Batistuta who was 'offered for free' a month ago?
