Three deals before deadline?

This has to happen, and I firmly believe United will try to bring in what they need before this weekend's deadline.
Escude will eventually join, but it wouldn't be a proper United transfar saga without a few 'on off' worries.
Fergie will assess Barthez over the next day or two - but if a keeper 'can't dive' as Fergie says then a loan deal will be needed as we can't rely on just Carroll. Expect movements in that area too.
As for a striker, Fergie has said he likes to work with four, and United (PLC included) know they are short in that area. I wouldn't be surprised if something develops in that area assuming United reach the Champions League group stages tonight. Not sure if it's a big money move, but there would be little point in United bringing in quantity rather than quality. The reason for bringing in new players is to try to improve the team. Put it this way, I'll be very disappointed if United don't bring in a new forward before Saturday ;)

Not so sure. Escude will eventually happen. A keeper will be brought in on loan if Fergie still has concerns about Barthez (whether that's a 'deal' as such is debatable).
Fergie knows an additional striker is vital and when push comes to shove he'll get his way. I expect a lot of the groundwork has been done already to bring someone in. United will be working on three deals. Whether they can pull them all off or not is another thing as United's transfer deals are anything but simple these days!

I'm not really optismistic about that, especially it is extrememly quiet in the striker front in these two weeks. If we qualified tonight I can see we bring in one more defender at most.

It was quiet before Andy Cole
It was quiet before Eric Cantona
Because stuff isn't made public doesn't mean things are not going on ;)

innit..

kin ell, Boring... what would we do with out your insider news?? ;)

There's every chance any proposed 'deal' could be finalised at the Champions League draw on Thursday. Isn't that what happened with Stam last year?

My contacts at your club have just told me that you may sign someone at some point...or you might not..

I'm prepared to trust him on this... ;)

I no longer beleive in miracles, it seems that talking about new signing is pissing me off completely and it's so frustrating, why not signing once and for all?

It's starting to become a saga... common Man Utd sign the freakin' players and let's concentrate on winning the treble.

I just hate these kinds of situation... <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

Hope that your words of wisdom are blessed son... ;)

Who said we were in for two? We were (and still are) in for Escude, as far as I am concerned the Argentenian stuff was just made up (and then brought down) by the media.

Very true.... Actually with or without signing does not bother me at all at this moment after reading thousands of speculation.

From Planetfootball-

'We have tried already, but haven't been successful with players,' he said. 'We'll keep on trying, but with only two or three days to go it's getting late.'

Ferguson added a third goalkeeper, as extra cover for Roy Carroll in Fabien Barthez's continuing injury absence, was a 'priority'

So, forget about the 4th striker.

Fergie did an interview with MUTV after the match yesterday. His comments regarding Escude were "That looks as if it's finished" (because of problems agreeding a fee). He also said...""We've got options in midfield and we've got options up front but we could do with more options in defence...."

Hopefully, the Escude comments are point of the bargaining process and that deal isn't really dead.

Hope so. The lad's done a lot and risked a lot to go to United, and I hope he isn't going to stay stuck in Rennes just because United are only willing to offer a sum I'd refuse too.

Don't worry, it will happen. I think we will see plenty of last minute deals this weekend.

I don't think we will buy 2 injured players at one time. :p

SAF looked genuinely down when asked (by Garth Crooks) about transfers after last nights win.

It looks to me like there'll be NO new signings and we're relying on a possible loan deal or two!

If one of those is Ronaldo none of us will care. We already have the squad to cope, but considering we're only a few weeks into the season the injury list is rather worrying. :(

I agree, his body language and tone of voice said he was resigned to not getting anyone, despite wanting to. I suspect the plc are being a bit tight with the cash, hence only 2m for escude and loan deal for carini. Seems very unlikely we'll get a 4th striker now. Its ridiculous if it stays like this, I mean, this interview was given after qualifying for the CL and all the money that brings.

Expect a striker only after the winter transfer window begins. Now the defence, goal keeping and midfield departments take top priority

So could it be that Kenyon was telling teh truth after all????? 2m for Escude is basically the Yorke money innit? More than that wasn't available said Peter K.

So we blew the lot on Rio basically.

Doubt it, as we have been negotiating about a number of players since then.

It's more a question of not getting the right players for the right prices.

Oh right.....yeah....of course.

Dans sounds right, we've only offered the yorke money for Escude, and a loan deal for Carini. Can't see how we can afford a striker then, unless such little money is being offered for Escude because a lot is being kept back to get gudjohnsen or whoever the 4th striker we're interested in is.

What about Barthez? How's he doing at his new club?

I've been a bit disappointed by Duff so far, as he hasn't performed for us....

God yeah. That deal was so hush hush I hadn't even noticed he'd gone.
