No chance. Their topscorer has 13 goals, our beloved manchild has 3

Those two group matches during the treble season were absolutely wild.

Has there always been a post-group stage playoff round in the Europa League for the CL dropouts? I thought they just went straight into the 2nd round draw.

Never been a better time to play them, but it’ll still be tough. We seem to play better in the bigger games though. We’ll definitely need another striker and a fit Varane though.

first time

edit - I stand corrected. Apparently this is the second time

Barca are still somewhat good so I'm not going overly-confident we'll thrash them. They pull more levers and strengthen in January too.

It's also weird this is a Europa League match, this is a fixture worthy of being a late stage Champions League tie.

Has been in days past. Currently it perfectly fits in the EL.

They will be concentrating on the league. May not even see frenkie as he might get rested.

Really never wanted to meet Barca. They are that team I think have really good quality and motivation. I just hope they will be off form by February because without Martinez in Spain...I am really scared

I think it’s fair to say the winner of this tie will win the cup.

Also a nice opportunity for ETH to get into FdJ’s ear.

I think Barcelona could win it. Maybe us if we buy a forward in January. I don’t think we have the goals in us to win any trophy as we currently are.

I don’t think we’ll ever thrash them but beating them over 2 legs is possible if we buy a striker in the January transfer window.

I can handle losing to Brentford but losing to Barca is unthinkable.

I think they're the easy favourites but I still wanted to draw them. Beating them would be more fun than beating anyone else and if we get put out of the tournament we'll have more time to focus on top 4 whilst also preserving the few players ETH trusts.

Really surprised by the worry in this thread - Barca are a shadow of what they used to be. The Spanish league is weak this year and they have been atrocious in Europe, they’ll be two good games but they should be more nervous of you than you are of them.

EDIT the thread title is tempting fate though!

I hate playing these fecking spanish teams.
Ever since the introduction of VAR, the performance of true Spanish teams have dropped off in Europe.

it used to be a shitshow of cheating and play acting, playing against Spanish teams but that’s no longer the case

Did you miss both our games against Sociedad this season?

Let's not hope this thread goes like other of the same ilk. We were supposed to crush Villa over the weekend. :nervous:

I have a hard time seeing this United squad beat that Barcelona side. They're not on their best run of form, but they're a side with significantly more quality all around, and a proper striker. That being said, I can't stand Barcelona and would just love to see United upset them and get them out of the Europa league early. I want to see more levers pulled.
