That’s what they want so they get views. The bbc story is the same, click bait crap with a tiny snippet at the bottom that says:
“A source close to the Boehly consortium told the BBC: "The consortium is committed to buying Chelsea and contributing to the success of English football.
"They are delighted that their plans have been accepted by the club, and welcome the constructive conversations they've had with the government and football authorities.

Now ignoring that the “source” could be the cleaners mother and her dog.. if this is a legitimate statement, then the story is pure hyperbole and will not affect the actual selling of the club. After all, it could literally just sit in a frozen account until the destination of the proceeds is agreed upon.
But who knows, the press is full of shit 99% of the time.

Spot on. The deal is in so much jeopardy, that Boehly, Wyss, & some of the Clearlake lot were there today hugging and applauding the staff and players. They know full well they have got the club, its not in doubt. Not sure if Mark Walter or Goldstein were, though
Better not to get to the finals? Not much more he could do to win them. Story of our season is Lukaku only got 15 goals, with 30 or 40 things different. We had 63 games.
Tuchel also dealing sanctions fall out, club isn't sold yet. Unless deal done over 1.6bn club won't exist anymore as is in a few weeks...

This guy gets an easy ride. Maybe it's deserved due to winning CL last year, but at the end of the day, his points total is equal to what Ole got last year, and everyone wanted his head. We'll see next season.

We thought we had a chance at the start of December. But we were not able to keep up the pace we set. Next season we need to rebuild the defense and injury prone midfield we need to freshen up and our forwards were not able to score goals. Too much needed to fix. So not much optimistic like i was last season when season started.
Not a hope. Very overrated team. It's almost as likely that we'll win it ourselves.
Yes bit overrated by us as well as many opposition fans too. So why not expected much coming season.
At the same time, you're a good side though. I imagine you will probably finish in the top 4 again, but we'll see how Spurs continue and more specifically how long it takes for ten Hag to get us going.
I kind of think next season is a bit of empty canvas. New owners, very likely a very different looking first 11 and the confidence a lot of us had in the squad has been knocked a bit, so unsure of what to expect next season. I guess expectations will end up being same as this season in some ways, to try and cut the gap to the title winners to single digit points.
Decent manager but not elite like Guardiola and Klopp. Conte is the only manager capable of taking those two on but he won't be able to do that at Spurs. The jury is out on ten Hag for me still also. He could be the managerial version of VDB for all we know.
It's not easy for any one to finish in top 4 except the top 2. Too early to count things. We need to replace many players from defence to forward. Only seven are now confirmed starters when fully fit.
Mendy,t.silva,James,kante,mount and havertz. Chilwell,kovasic may be kind. That's it. So not sure how we will lineup at the start of next season
Chelsea are a weird one. They have a base of good young players, but they also have a lot of filler players and very expensive duds. That is also before you get to their loan army. For me, I think they'll be between 3rd and 5th next season but cannot see them pushing for the title. For me, this season was about par for them. They won a couple of trinket in the Super Cup and CWC and just came up short in the LC, FA Cup and CL QF.
However, it should be remembered that in those games they lost in the cups, they were probably the better team in 2 out of the three games/ties - I just edge the Dippers in the FA Cup final.
I mean, the CL was essentially lost on a combination of Lukaku and Jorginho missing a sitters, Mendy giving Benzema a goal and Kante giving a needless pass away. Any of those don't happen they probably beat Madrid.
LC final they had the most marginal (at best) of offsides called and the Dippers really should've gone down to 10 in ET.
That said, this summer they need to rebuild a defence, get some goal scorers and shift quite a bit of deadwood. Then they have the issue that Chilwell is the only LWB they have that can actually make their system function properly.
Imo, TT isn't the problem there and should be back. However, it will take some intelligent plays in the transfermarket to get them competing for the league again.

I think you’ve summed it up quite nicely actually. Next season I don’t expect us to be champions but hopefully compete more consistently. The Chelsea of 2021 is a totally different side to the 2022 team even with the same players. That gives me hope that a lot of them just need a break.
I think we will target 2 CBs, a forward and a LB this summer. As much as I’d like someone fresh in midfield, it’s not the issue. We need to be more clinical and stop giving goals away, unfortunately that’s not as simple as it sounds but that’s been our down fall this year.
Reportedly we're already planning to have Emerson back for next season - personally I'm much happier with him as a backup instead of Alonso.

Slight tangent but I have no idea though why Sarri didn't try him as a left-sided 8 in his 4-3-3 - always thought that role would be perfect for him. He's such a weird player; genuinely up there with the best strikers of the ball in the entire world but is almost universally atrocious at more or less everything else.
I have to disagree there tbh. There's a reason Alonso quickly won his place back whenever Emerson was given chances.
I generally prefer Emerson's versatility in that he can credibly play in a back 4 or back 5, and he's not a complete liability when 1v1 and/or tracking back.
I'm also hoping that our backup LB won't be one of our 4-5 most important attacking players...but if we do wind up in that boat again then I'd agree with Alonso being the superior option.
For me he's just very ordinary whereas Alonso does give top class performances even if it's only once every couple of months.
I doubt it will happen but if it's a choice of who is on our books I'll rather Maatsen, he may not be the answer but he might be where we know what we will get with Emerson.
One thing this topic does drill home however is thankgod Chilwell proved me wrong, I was underwhelmed by him at Leicester and thought he would add to the LB issue.
Personally I'd rather Maatsen get minutes on loan this year instead of being a backup for the first team - ideally somewhere in the PL (perhaps Huddersfield given the success Colwill has been should they make it back up?).
Chilwell came after long break. Not sure how good he will be. So should have adequate plans and three back formation still look like tuchels preferred one. So need as much players as possible especially in wing back position.
Moreover if we buy good back up /completion to chilwell then we need to forget maatsen in chelsea colours. He is good and already clocked enough minutes in senior footy. So have to be careful to let talented kids to go on loan.
If tuchel believes maatsen is good enough he should be in the squad. We should not let youngsters go at the expense of our own team. Five subs rule will give rotation at wingbacks enough room in each match.

Alonso just has the knack of scoring important goals, and he is a cracking finisher. I have always said id sell him for the right money, but when he is gone i think we will miss him haha.
Emerson going i am not sure is so certain you know, he was TT first choice to cover Chilwell in Jan, but Lyon wouldnt cancel the loan. So I suspect TT may be a fan
If he had say, Chilwell or Reece James' pace, Alonso would be an outstanding wing back. Defensively he is meh, but ok; however going forward he would be so good.
Somehow Tuchel with this god awful attack made us the fourth highest scoring team in Europe.
A god awful attack that cost an absolute fortune. £311m for 5 attackers, it should be expected for them to score a lot of goals for that cost.

I suppose the point he's making is that he's surprised because each of those players, perhaps Havertz aside, have been underwhelming to varying degrees.

If its counting goals in league play, there are tons of teams that scored more than Chelsea's 76.
If its counting goals in European play, there are definitely more than three teams that scored more than Chelsea's 21 (City/Liverpool/Bayern/Madrid/RBL/Atalanta to name a few).

Yeah it seems to be the case. A few more matches definitely helps. I think liverpools played every single match they could have played this season as well.
I forgot to add that it was in all comps and just Europes top 5 leagues.
