Matic will be gone next season. And I'd like us to get one at Maguire and Bruno's age, where their ceiling is fairly known, consistent, and with some room for improvement. So Partey is at the right age at 26/27.
Makes a lot of sense for the spine of this team, I fully agree.
I would go for Partey and Grealish with Pogba money which would fix our midfield for next 6/7 years.
RW and DM should be our top priority as we can't bank on SMT for such an important position ( I think Matic is doing well now but we need an upgrade for sure)
He might be around but we are fortunate that he has played well in the absence of McTominay. We definately need an upgrade and there are many choices such as Partey and Zakaria, or a ball playing CM like Neves or maybe Tonali.
Yeh. Dare to say that's a title challenge midfield there.

Really don't need Grealish or Maddison as much as the others. Bruno Fernandes is our creative midfielder, I do think we need depth there, and part of me thinks Grealish could work well to be part of the midfield 3 with Bruno and McTominay, but not sure. That's definitely a luxury signing at this point though and one that improves depth and gives us creative cover.
Same with DM though. Fred and McTominay are our starting 6 and 8, which is very good. Matic is straight cover for McTominay (though different style of players), and Fred can adapt to play next to either of them. Bruno can step back and do Freds role if needed, with a change of tactic in attack to cover that. The thing we lack more than anything is a right winger. Even if we got nothing but Sancho, I think we'd be in a good place. Partey is a quality player, but I don't see this as a realistic signing and not something Ole would do. Ole loves McTominay, he's not going to sign someone to push him onto the bench (nor does he need to).

Can see this being the main and backup 11 for next season. Right winger being the priority signing (let's say Sancho as he's the dream option). Can see us going for someone in midfield to replace Pogba when we sell him, but the question is who? Do we get the energetic/box to box to push McTominay as a backup? Can't see it. Maybe someone to compete with Fred as a deep lying passing midfielder and loan out Garner (would be my choice), but again, depends on who. Not sure Partey would be that guy, just seems unlikely to me. Also can see a more experienced striker to be part of the attacking group as a depth option (like Ighalo, or going back in for Josh King). There's not that much space for too many signings. We only need 2-3 players, but one of those is already replacing Pogba. Sancho as a right wing is the clear thing we lack, anything else we are in sell and buy territory.Rashford - Bruno - ????

That would be a great window but at a guess I'd say that will cost us £230m+. Not sure we'll pay that unless we get a massive fee for Pogba but we may be able to sell De Gea to try to get some extra funds.
We might recoup around 150m from the sale of Pogba, Pereira, Lingard, and the players we have on loan elsewhere. That would be decent.

If we were to get those fees for the players that you mentioned. I would be happy. Although I have a feeling Smalling will be back and think unless we subsidise Sanchez wages I think we are going to struggle for a buy even at 10m.
I would like us to sign another striker as well but that would be getting greedy.
He's my first choice CDM for the summer, hands down. I want a proper beast in front of the back four, I don't care about these Pirlo/Carrick types as much to be honest. Leave that for the other two midfielders.
Partey is actually a really good passer. Perhaps not Pirlo or Carrick, but very good.
Apart from odd screamers Neves has done absolutely nothing to warrant a move. Would rather have Matic instead of buying him for 60+m
I get point about Neves but even if he were to go I'd think it would be for a bit more than £60m as Fosun are loaded and have no need to sell.

We are allowed to have more than one good CAM, and even if Pogba stays I want Grealish who can play various positions as you say he will give us depth and options.
Only Matic is a CDM out of the 3 and he is in decline, we need to think past him and try to move him. This summer I think we need a starting CDM as much as a RW, it's a very important positions in any team and a big problem for us. Bring a player like Partey and it give us an undisputed rock in the middle of the park, which would give an option to play Bruno and Pogba/Grealish in midfield 3.
Personally I see Fred as a box to box/energetic midfielder, he isn't a deep lying passing midfielder and he isn't a destroyer. Maybe I am wrong but I see McTominay and Fred as very similar players, and I think Scott has more potential therefor only one to start. If we do invest in someone like Grealish besides Sancho (the dream RW) I don't think we should focus on a striker. Rashford/Martial/Greenwood are all strikers/wingers. IMO if Bailly does not stake a claim as a starting CB next to Maguire we do need a new CB, since Lindelof is not good enough.
Add a backup strong and bullish striker, this would be the best window post Fergie's era.

If he wants the move that much, I think he will take wage cut or he might want to stay in China on those wages so that he has a significant amount of money for his retirement.

That’s the dream if we sell Pogba. Maybe try & sign Ighalo permanently (or a similar backup striker).
A midfield trio of Partey, Bruno & Grealish would be really great in a lot of aspects: physically, pressing, technique, creativity....we’d still have Fred & McT pushing for a place. We’d genuinely have a scary first XI at a good age to grow.
Until anyone who is a reliable source for transfers in either UK or Spain reports about our interest in him I will not allow myself to get caught up in this one as have been stung with that so many times before

Buying Partey is stocking up on a player you'd like to have but don't really need. He's no significant improvement on Fred or McTominay. I put getting right winger above him. United are skin flint now. Can't afford to buy everyone. Obviously if Matic and/or Pogba leave they must be replaced, otherwise, I don't see it. Plus: I expect Ole will go for a younger player. He bought players in their prime when he needed to (Maguire and Fernandes), otherwise club management prefer younger players with more potential than Partey.

Yep! All a pipe dream at the moment, based on little more than his “low” buyout clause from what I gather.
Problem with keeping Pogba after signing Grealish/Partey is, he wont be happy to be on bench or getting substituted (you know what happened between him and Jose) so I think better we move him on as we need team players but the problem here is looks like not many are in for him.

Partey is a must buy, he will make us much stronger
Sign Partey, keep Pogba. Play Bruno, Pogba and Partey. Win. Injuries? Bring in Mctominay, Fred, Gomes or Pereira. Continue to win, just not as easily.
Understand the sentiment on playing Mctominay and Fred, who isn't bad at all and big improvement from previous years, and always does their job quite well. But just imagine playing Bruno, Pogba and Partey together. Potentially we could have one of the best midfield in Europe.
Only problem with Mctominay and Fred, is that they are not really that strong in defence, they are good box to box player though, but not really great or natural in DM role.

Fecking hell, what a team we would have.
However, should we sell Pogba in Summer, Bruno+Partey+Mctominay/Fred would still make a good midfield in Premier league, which I am happy with.
Grealish is good attacking player, but we already have Bruno, I don't see Grealish really suit our current midfield as much, as playing them together would make our midfield abit too lightweighted. Partey is a proper core type of player, who is strong in defence, and good in passing and dribbling too.
