Why? The world title matches are a little underwhelming, admittedly, but there are plenty of matches lower down the card that should be interesting. It can't be any worse than last year, anyway.

Wrestlers get very limited freedom on promos. They had freedom to say whatever they wanted in the 90's but they clearly do not have that anymore. Listen to Kevin Nash, who was one of the best promos in the 90s, talk about his promos with CM Punk in 2011. He just had to accept that Punk was allowed to insult him about his age, quads, etc with no response, whereas in the 90s he could have gone off script and said whatever he wanted with a live mic. If Nash was given any creative freedom he would have used it. Austin also talked about this many times on his podcast.

Cena probably has the freedom to ad lib and I don't doubt he is not scripted as the top guy in the company. However, Miz had no creative freedom to offer a rebuttal to Cena's 5 minute promo on him either on the mic or by calling an audible and getting physical, so its going to look like was destroyed as he has no opportunity to offer a comeback. Cena was allowed to run Miz down for 5 minutes, tell him he was firing blanks, run down Maryse, and challenge Miz to get physical with him and Miz just had to walk away. That's all in the booking, nothing to do with Cena's promo.

Miz mocked Cena 3,4 weeks in a row and Cena didn't give a good response except at the beginning of the feud when he said if it was up to him he would face Undertaker not Miz. This whole feud helped Miz to goto the next level. He had an awesome run before Royal Rumble in mid card and now he had a great feud with Cena and he delivered some fantastic promos. He roasted Cena every week on Smackdown and Talking Smack.

Agreed, yet I found Cenas single promo yesterday better than what Miz had over the last few weeks.

That's not to say Miz is poor, it's more just recognition of how good Cena is. Unless he limited the quality of Miz' input, which I don't think can be proved here.

I don't think Vince allows wrestler to go of the script these days but he obviously had the permission to deliver more edgier promos. Honestly I don't think you can say anything else about Cena even if you have freedom to say everything you want. So yeah, I agree Miz wasn't limited that much.

About promos I think Cena' s first promo and Miz's promo on Talking Smack were brilliant. Basically every promo they delivered were great but those two are my favorites.
 
What do you want them to say about Cena that hasn't already been covered? Given they won't change his gimmick......it's just what it is. AJ did it best I guess outside of Bray, and I certainly do believe anyone feuding with Cena will be allowed to have their own input, because that is what Cena would want, he's open to it, and it works.

By the way, this isn't me saying Cena can overrule Vince, but if he'd allow it, I'm sure Vince would be happy with it to, makes too much sense for them not to allow Miz/AJ/Bray/Whoever to have their inputs given it's all going to be around the same material on Cena.

Harper will be in the battle royal, I think the list going around is just ones that have been announced on tv. There probably will be a few surprise entrants such as legends and maybe someone from NXT. I can see Dillinger popping up for example.
 
I can't see creative passing the opportunity to "test" NXT a couple of guys in the pre-show Battle Royal. At the very least it'll give them some experience on the big stage, even if it is a couple of minutes.

Ive had a really shit week (my mum passed) and whilst I wasnt really looking forward to WM, it will be after her funeral and be a nice change to get my mind of things (sorry to put a bummer on this thread).
I was looking forward to posting in here during the PPV (as per normal) as it makes things fun, but ill have to see if I do it Sunday.
