That was great  Rock is really setting the bar for Cody to be top face. Cody is clearly winning and smashing the Rock with that belt, it’s going to be great. Main event is absolutely killing it.

Rock is going away for a few weeks now so hopefully the others can keep it going (Cody can talk about Roman being overshadowed etc).

So the Rock is face again? Why the hell he put himself over with the crowd for the first 5 minutes before cutting a promo on Cody's mama?
Imagine starting the week with the Cody promo on Raw getting everyone eating out of the palm of his hand, and ending it on SD with the Rock upstaging him and the crowd wanting Rocky to whip the shit out of Cody with his belt.

Absolute nonsense booking really.
Rock calls Memphis his home. He will make other crowds hate him

Rocks social media promos are some of the best stuff too.

Just been watching WM39. Man if Reigns wins at 40 then Cody might as well piss off back to AEW because he is absolutely buried by then.

Was a bit of a weird approach, but ultimately it was very entertaining, and next week is a new week.

Feel like a lot of face/heel lines are blurred these days anyway... We had Gunther wrestling as a full on face the other vs. Dom.

Cody will win. Reddit sleuths have said it's tradition for the big face to win the Main Event at milestone Manias like 10 (Bret), 20 (Eddie and the other fella), 30 (Bryan) and 40 (Cody).

Also, on 3 of those Manias, the big babyface has done double duty on the PPV (Bret, Bryan, Cody).

This story is getting finished. Cody isn't George RR Martin.

In case anyone missed this earlier in the week. Definitely full on heel mode and imho probably the best since the days of Stone Cold, HHH and Mick Foley. He's bringing the attitude era WWE feeling back too. Looking long term and not just at this whole Cody/Seth/Rock/Bloodline story/stories hopefully it's going to shape the way the whole WWE moves in the future.

With social media they can be more adult and still keep it PG for the shows and keep everyone happy. I've long said the biggest flaw in recent years is taking it all too cheesy. Making it more glitz and glamour over the darker side and often lacking any humour too. Aside from The Miz and New Day there hasn't been much comedy incan remember over the last decade, and when they did finally get a true dark theme with Bray (RIP) they didn't use it fully and let it fade out. It's needed a nice mix of both and I hate to say it, The Rock has brought both back and I absolutely love it.

How can anyone not enjoy this. Not sure how more we will see rock in wwe so let us all enjoy it.

Just for fun I really want to see LA knight and Rock interact atleast once.

Honestly this is the most invested I've been in years. The last time I watched wrestling proper was probably 2006. Then I was proper casual just tuning in on the off PPV and WM. The last WM I watched live was 30 and the last I watched at all (at the time) was 34. Since then I've been out of it for years and having watch Chamber live last month I was amazed how many people I didn't recognise.

Smackdown is light years ahead of RAW in terms of entertainment.

It's a constant change though. I remember when The Rock owned Smackdown and the old PS2 Smackdown game was unlike any wrestling game beforehand. Then RAW made a massive comeback. I've lost track of how often the momentum shifts between the two. I bet someone somewhere has a detailed graph of the peaks and troughs of each show.

The Rock’s presence has made everybody else look third rate. Roman Reigns has been the hottest thing in pro wrestling for over three years and Cody is the most loved clean babyface we’ve seen for ages but both have almost become bystanders in their own main event feud. As much as I’m enjoying Rock, the others need to step up big time.

Definitely the more entertaining show out of the two. I think the lengths of each show play a part. Smackdown is two hours long which is perfect. Rather than the long 3 hours of Raw which 1 hour of that can be filled with boring matches and random filler content to pass the time.

He’s very good but also helped massively by the fact he can pretty much say or do what he wants while the majority of the roster are slightly handcuffed at times as to how far they can actually go or say.

Anyone can earn that privilege to be fair, not easy, but anyone can get there if they are good enough. If you want less scripted and heavy freedom, you have AEW for that too.

Personally I don’t mind at all tbh but do think it’s a very obvious thing when people are praising him. If you had somebody like Chad Gable saying feck off in promos etc he would likely end up getting a fine ffs let’s be real. It just gives him way more freedom and leeway with his promos with what he can and can’t do, not to take anything away from him but others are handcuffed way more if we’re being honest. Not hating.

Like I said, anyone can get that privilege if they prove to be good enough. If you want people like Chad Gable doing it.... you've got AEW, with very middling promo work due to being less scripted.... and only MJF is even coming out of that with consistent brilliance, a man who has likely already earned future WWE freedom should he ever want it.

Rock's promo is not great just because he can say whatever but because he is that damn good on the mic. Most barring a few in modern time lack that.

I like Seth but his promos bore me out. And there are many like him.

Other than Kevin Owens, is there a current WWE guy who is great at promos.

I don't disagree with this but I still think the main factor is he's just better at it. He knows how to play the audience and so invariably seems to control the situation.

The problem is he's making everyone else look comparatively dull but then you can't expect him to tone it down or phone it in just because it might make others look bad. It's up to them to step it up.

Cody's crying promo on RAW by comparison made me cringe. Who's idea was that? Rock backs his own charisma and ability to entertain, while Cody needs to play sympathy cards to keep people on side even though hes already the face. Seth hasn't even managed to adequately explain why the situation has anything to do with him, and Roman isn't even there half the time and when he is can't get close to Rock.

It's an opportunity for them and everyone on the roster to an extent. Rock brings extra attention and draws back in people who haven't watched in years. Perfect time to get yourself noticed or step it up. You to see anyone do it.

I've fallen off the WWE wagon for a while, but it feels like it was coached out of heads for a while. Even talk off Rollins there I find him incredibly talented as a wrestler, but checking in from afar the character is incredibly tryhard.

Yeah I don’t really disagree and it’s nothing against The Rock. It’s a unique situation though as he’s been around for a month and is fresh. Would everybody be lapping it up had he been around for the past two years spilling the same act? Easy to compare it to guys that are on the road 24/7 having to try to stay fresh every single week compared to a guy who has only just returned with a bag of his classic tricks that’s also able to say and do what he wants without any restrictions at all.

Again, nothing against The Rock as I’ve loved this story and think they’ve all done a brilliant job with it and all contributed something completely different. Reigns has been absolutely brilliant with his mannerisms and hasn’t had to say a great deal, he’s been killing it with little things.

Kevin Owens and The Mix see the only two on the current roster who can possibly be compared with The Rock for their mic work. Although saying that, Drew Macyntire has been great in recent weeks, his social media work has been especially good.

It's a shame because Seth was always great but he just comes across as overly scripted and predictable nowadays.

Owens is great. I like him a lot

Rollins has never blown me away with his mic stuff. Agree with Rock that all he does now is cackle and dance. I don’t get it. Cant fault his wrestling ability though

TBF to the Rock, his swearing is his social media stuff. His promos on SD dont have profanity, and hes pretty much using the same barometer. Granted he gets more time, but he gets it for a reason. Its like when Bloodline stuff was at its peak with Sami Zayn, they got shit loads of time cos it was engaging.
Rock is engaging. Hes always been engaging. Even when people thought he was corny at times, even with him repeating 'walking clown show emoji' so much.

Owens is great because he talks like an actual human  And ridicules things that deserve ridiculing.

No he's going very pantomime and it would definitely have a shelf life, which does make it easier for him...especiallywhen hes won moat of the battle just by being who he is...but then Vince played pantomime villain for years and it never really stopped working. Rock looks like he's genuinely having fun with it.

It's just as ever a bit silly trying to build a double main event feud when the two people on one side aren't there 50% of the time, and the two on the other side appear on a different show to them anyway. - Rock I'd the one turning it round for me. Cody is fine but he's meant to be main eventing with Reigns and they've barely even interacted with each other

Yeah Rhodes, Rollins and arguably Reigns all look like chumps really heading into WM. Rubbish promo on RAW.

It doesnt though does it?

Definitely not and we are now getting to silly season with it all tbh. The Rock has been really good in this story but it’s getting a bit tiresome already of some people acting like the rest involved are all rubbish and leagues behind him.

Exactly. The only main criticism I have at the moment is how it's just these two matches being mentioned anywhere. There are so many other good matches to look forward to,.and of those that have already been booked, I can't see a single bad match amongst them. They are all absolutely top drawer imho

Sky v Bailey

Ripley v Lynch

Both women's matches look to be absolutely amazing.

Then we have Seth v Drew, Seth always pulls top performances out of the bag, the 6 man ladder match for the tag titles will be good fun, LA Knight v AJ Styles should be a top match full of high flying lunacy. Jay v Jimmy in the Uso twin match could be great fun too if they don't just turn it in to a superkick fest... The Paul, Owens and Orton triple threat match is one I am really looking forward to as three of the most exciting wrestlers I've seen are all involved... Then Gunther v Zayn....

Plus whatever else is going to be announced... It definitely does have the makings of one of the best Manias of all time. I can't wait!
