Kofi has missed saving himself in two Rumbles in a row
Wonder what happens today ...

What was the point of that? Waste of a spot ...

R truth however, much better for the comedy spot

Right winner. Punk looked gassed, but then had a little bit of a second wind. But understandable given when his last match was.

Thought the women's rumble was better. Crowd were dead for majority of the men's match. Think wwe wasted a spot or two, and it's one of those times you wouldn't mind a legend or surprise

Cody winning was the right choice and it delivered. Final 4 was good.

Thought it was quite a forgettable Rumble in the grand scheme of things. Shit crowd didn't help.

Good move to give it Cody, just on the basis of him doing the press conference instead of Punk..... could you imagine lumping Punk in that? Trips responses were just like "I wanna ignore negativity and concentrate on those sweet deals baby" - like umm, okay.

Either way, boring event, trash week for WWE, all leading to a trash WWE main event for the second time.... and Punk vs Seth isn't gonna be much better on Night 1, that Punk vs Cody stuff was horrific, Seth on one leg surely can't do much better?

I thought it was a decent show

Looks like we’re getting Cody vs Roman and Punk vs Rollins which is fair enough.

I was hoping the Rock would get involved but it’s starting to look like he won’t be at this stage

That HHH response when being asked about the allegations at the press conference was an utter train wreck.

WWE far more interesting outside the ring than in it

Definitely not, been a fantastic product in the ring recently which is why this was one of the most hyped Rumbles in a long time and one of the most hyped Wrestlemania in a while.

The most I’ve cheered a Rumble win in a long time. Genuinely shocked they didn’t give it to Punk, really hope this was the long build to Cody winning the title that he deserves. Reality is he’s the reliable guy that is everything they want in a star tbh.

Nah he's pretty much right, most of the hype came from entries that never came to fruition only for both to end up going to the 2 people that were massive favourites to win it 5 months ago. Forget the Vince being the big talking point this week.

Happy you liked it. I thought it was the most boring one in a long time

It’s not even about there being no decent surprises, although that was a let down, as I understand that you can’t do surprises on every PPV and it’s good just to elevate the current talent. Just thought there were so many missed opportunities. And that McAfee thing was awful

Opinions and tastes really. The build up lately has been very good and most of the product is delivering. Favourites? When was the last time bookies didn’t mostly get it right? And once Punk returned Cody dropped behind him and Gunther with the bookies anyway and I think most honestly expected Punk to win last night, don’t think many went into that final two thinking Cody was eliminating Punk on his return.

What returns? The Rock? Let’s be honest, who really wants to see him return and win the Rumble? Zayn at 30 was a disappointment if we’re being honest as I think most did expect The Rock at this stage but we’ve seen this plenty of times before.

I just feel at the top end they have a great mixture of talent on both sides. Rollins/Punk is a great story. Rhodes/Reigns has been almost a two year build. Bailey/Io built for months. Rhea against Jade or even Jade/Belair. Gunther has been built brilliantly.

There’s some stuff they’re doing wrong but there’s plenty they’re doing right. The build has been brilliant imo the last few months and it’s going to be a brilliant Wrestlemania. Opinions and taste though, fair enough if it’s not for you mate.

Agree with most of this, expected Punk to win and it’s nice Rhodes did.

Guessing both the men’s match main event either day (giving Punk his main event too).

The problem here is I'm speaking facts and you're saying outlandish stuff like "who really wants to see him return" about the fecking Rock.... how can we have a serious conversation?

The hype was heavily intensified on people genuinely believing he would be there, as unlike last year where they casually hinted at it, he legit showed up this time in the build up, the past week they had those silly Hogan promos, the WWE clearly have shown interest in Sasha, and then there's the ultra wild but clearly adding to the hype of Okada and MJF. One of whom isn't even a free agent, and the other is clearly going to AEW anyway.

EDIT - Forgot AJ.

The last time The Rock returned a lot of fans were pissed off because he was taking a spot, don’t have short term memory mate. The reality would quickly kick in. Fantastic for business no doubt short term and for a huge pop, other than that they really didn’t need to be having The Rock return and win the fecking royal rumble in 2024.

Okada and MJF in the Rumble was created by dirtsheets and fans, not the WWE so how can we really blame them that they weren’t there? Okada shouldn’t be showing up at the Rumble anyway, it should be at Wrestlemania in a similar way to Cody.

What facts are you speaking? That they hinted at the rock showing up and he didn’t? It happens every single year.

I like cody but his whole finish the story arc is looking too forced now. Overall a boring rumble. Punk winning would have made more sense as at least that way we would still have been eager to see how cody gets to face roman and finish his story. Now it's like just cut to the chase and get the mania done. Unless you have rock come into the mix or priest cashes in.

Wrestling has always been predictable, I mean was anyone saying when Stone Cold won his 1st one well it was obvious who was going to win.

Again, you just said "who really wants to see him return" and already backtracked here by acknowledging he's outstanding for business, regardless of a portion being pissed about, by the way, I was one, twice in a lifetime should never have happened... they ain't going anywhere while he attracts a massive casual fanbase and new fans.

This is what supports generating hype, yes. At no point have I suggested WWE pushing this.... so I don't get what your point is here, like at all?

That's one portion of it, and that a lot of the hype was from outside events.

Okay let’s rephrase it as you’re taking it in a complete literal sense. Do many actual people that watch the product really want to see him return in 2024 and win the Rumble? It’s fantastic business because he’s one of the biggest stars in the world, that doesn’t mean that as a fan of the product people really want to see him winning the Rumble. He doesn’t need it, he could return tomorrow and they could easily build a match with Reigns for the Chamber without any need for him winning the Rumble, winning it does nothing for him. How about give it to the guy who’s had this story built around him for close to two years and is going to give everything to the company going forward instead of a guy who would turn up a handful of times and be blowing out of his ass after 5 minutes?

MJF was a complete dream if we’re being honest and Okada would be better debuting at Wrestlemania, that’s my point. Of course there could have been a few more surprises, didn’t effect it all that much for me personally though but Zayn at 30 was a disappointment no doubt.

Loads of people still buzz for the Rock, yes. Unfortunate or not, a massive part of the regular fanbase does and once again, and this being the key point here, he brings in a feck load of casuals and new fans. The regular fanbase aren't leaving regardless.

I think it was the absolute right decision to have Cody (or well preferably Gunther) win over him or Punk, given what both of those guys have given the past couple years. But we're talking about hype going into the event and where it came from.

WM41 Non-title Roman vs Rock will be massive regardless. Given that maybe the Rock can win now

As someone who hasn't really watched wrestling for a long time (bar a month when Vince first left and Triple H took over) but has been casually following the storylines lately, what are the chances of Reigns vs Rock vs Cody at Wrestlemania in a triple threat match? I guess it's extremely unlikely, but I just don't see how Rock has a 1v1 match that doesn't end up being quite disappointing these days. The little I have seen of him in his last few appearances he seems to be blowing up quite quickly, so he'd need somebody who could really carry the match which I doubt Reigns is capable of doing. A triple threat match where he can pick and choose his involvement would probably create the best quality of match from his point of view.

However the two storylines don't really mesh so I presume they won't be going down that route.

Or is it more likely they'd do what Zen said above and are just preparing Rock vs Reigns for next year, at which time he perhaps won't be champion anymore?

I must concede I've been out of touch with WWE of late (in part because of the below reasons) but is it just me that finds:

1) Reigns' angle supremely boring? He's gone on such a frankly daft run of stealing wins it got uninteresting a long, long, long time ago. I dont actually care for the fractures and then the make-ups in his family because it ends up in one direction anyway.
2) Cody Rhodes is just not charismatic for me. I dont like his promos, I don't like his theme music. He's an OK wrestler but theres nothing that draws me to him.

It's all opinions but I'd watch KO, Seth Rollins, Punk any day. I enjoy LA Knight too. These guys are captivating and have the capacity to tell a really good story in a better way. I actually like Judgement Day too but that's because Kofi brings them to a hilariously good level.

I think quite a few feel the same about Reigns now and have for a little while. He’s had a great run and some really good stories and brilliant moments throughout this run but it’s definitely time for the title switch. The issue is what they do with Reigns once he loses the title, it’s just hard to not see him as the top guy really.

Fair opinion on Cody, for me he’s brilliant and one of the guys they should be building the company around. Fantastic on and off screen for the company. Great promo guy IMO and one of the better workers in the company. I think it showed how well he’s done when he was getting great reactions even up against a returning Punk. Just easy to root for imo.

On Owen’s, I’ve lost almost all interest in him at this point if I’m honest. Fantastic a few years ago but he’s just become a bit stale imo.

The Rock was gassed after a spine-buster and peoples elbow on Jinder and people genuinely want to see him in the main event of Wrestlemania. Punk looked terrible as well. The reality is there’s only a select few who’ll ever realistically win the Royal Rumble but it would be so much more fun if they could tweak it somehow to make it actually unpredictable.

Punk looking like he was going to get a hernia while veeeery sloooowly lifting Drew McIntyre over the top rope was one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen in a wrestling ring.

Both rumble matches were mostly terrible, and predictable. The NXT women’s battle royal a couple of weeks ago was better in every conceivable way - better storylines, fewer botches, more exciting set pieces, etc

I think the KO stuff is down to the creative team just using him poorly. And the same for Cody. Cody has an incredible push, maybe I need to watch him more.

Punk definitely injured to a degree, and likely suggested it was severe himself. Straight from the DDT off Drew, he gets to a corner to talk to a ref, and almost everything from that moment is somewhat protecting it, though adrenaline pulls him through some of it looking slightly less obvious. May not be bad, but if his AEW and UFC preparation injury record is anything to go by.... either way, dropping the pedigree just a sure sign he's gonna be Corporate Punk soon hopefully.

Kofi in judgment day? I'm trying to think if you mean r truth? Or new day?

I agree with most of this. I like the teases they've done and the continued build for other things.

Interested to see what they do with Andrade. They could have him face and beat Gunther.
Also Cody eliminating Gunter two years in a row should be brought up down the line. Maybe with Cody as champ and Gunter wanting to avenge that.

Bronn looked a beast and had a good showing. Think their timing of eliminating Omos was off though. They should do everything possible to avoid eliminations during the countdown.

Womens side was more intriguing. Wondering if they do Bianca/Jade this year or build a year for it and get Jade completely ready

Surely Cody “finishes the story” against Reigns at Mania otherwise it was just completely pointless for him to win the rumble again and it ends up being a replica of last year’s main event.
