Rumours abound that Wyatt is off programming /Mania due to creative differences...

Which would make sense to me as the man is seemingly a creativity vacuum.

What a promo. Hope Cody wins.
Fantastic promo. I know he said it (and missed some time that extended it) but him being undefeated, I'm wondering if they play more into that next few weeks until the mania main event

I still don't know what the purpose of Wyatt is. He just acts weird then occasionally picks on a random wrestler for no reason. His character would probably be cool and interesting if there was ever any motivation or point to anything he did.

He's had one match since returning and that was just a colossally shite mountain dew advert.

If he's out of WM it won't be a big miss, which is a shame/waste.

They've missed an opportunity with him. Really think they should have done something similar to Wyatt family or how taker was with his ministry. That was still dark side stuff but didn't go too OTT.
Could have had Wyatt recruit people who could do the weekly wrestling, whilst he can still remain special.

All the magic nonsense goes dry very quickly. That gimmick match was really shite and didn't make sense at all.

Yeah, and the thing with Undertaker is, he did have a purpose. He would be after the championship, or in an actual fued with someone that had been built properly, or trying to take over control of the WWE. It was never just being a random weirdo for no reason. The problem with that is once the novelty wears off there's no substance to it, so it's then immediately boring.

I feel like it's always been this way with Wyatt. You're constantly waiting to find out why he's up to what he's up to, except after a while you realise its simply just because, and that there's no reason to actually care.

He looks, feels, and acts like a proper WWE main eventer. If you told me he'd be in this position this time last year, or even just after his debut, I don't think I'd have believed you.
Did you not?

I assumed when he came back to WWE that it was going to be that he was one of the main guys and challenging for the heavyweight title(s) given that he could have gone anywhere he wanted.

I mean yeah, I thought everyone knew that didn't they? His whole reason for coming back was to be a main eventer and win the title.

Odd statement.

You don't think there were question marks on Vince putting Cody Rhodes - a man coming from AEW - into the main event of WrestleMania a year after he debuted?

Obviously he came in with that intention in the past... But well we've seen how Vince has done things before. I thought he would get there eventually, but not after only a year.

Nah it was far more likely than not that he'd be main eventing WM when he joined; he was brought in as a main eventer, him coming from AEW worked in his favour as there will be others looking at his return treatment to influence their future decisions, and even back when he returned there weren't any other credible contenders for the title, as the rest of the roster had already been thrown under the Roman bus.

The only thing that could have stopped him was a badly timed injury, but the injury he did have ended up keeping him fresh and setting him up perfectly for his rumble return. I just hope the pull the trigger on him now while it's hot.

1000 days though.

I think the 1000 days thing is just a number for an already established star. It would mean much less than actually making Cody the star. Hes the best good guy theyve had in ages. Hes liked by crowds, hes a great promo and can go in the ring and just looks like a star. He feels like a full package and I feel having him lose would be a huge mistake.

That opening segment of dynamite was great. Enjoyed them having the four pillars and shows that the other three (not counting mjf) need more mic time and focused feuds going forward.

Cody had to be pushed very hard to show that you can come in from AEW and WWE will go with you, not take everything you had away from you and you end up in catering like a lot of guys that signed for WWE in the past. Its gone extremely well other than the injury. I'm still a skeptic on them having him beat Roman... But he's talked it up like if he doesnt he sucks so I dont know. Following the storyline he would almost need to back to the start after losing. I guess thats a possibility for a longterm storyline to get back in the title picture.

The current situation leaves an incredibly unlikely scenario but one that is possible due to timing and just for how baffling it would be in the grand scheme of things, so I'd be very sports entertained by it. So I'll mention it anyway despite it being unlikely.

Cody loses. Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks decide to go with a WWE offer instead of resigning with AEW. They end up the ones to defeat Roman and the Usos and take the titles off all of them.

I think WWE fans would be annoyed it wasnt Cody or more importantly Sami, but theres also a chance that now they're in WWE suddenly they're considered amazing like Cody. There seems to be plenty of elasticity with WWE fans and as soon as you sign for them you're one of the good guys. AEW fans would be annoyed some more of the founding fathers and most important talent left and would obviously leave a big hole. Vince and Triple H would be happy to take top stars from AEW and be able to market it as dream matches that nobody thought they'd be able to see. The wrestlers themseleves would be happy to make a lot of money and have a big career highlight

Liked the ending of Dynamite. The finish of the match was a bit flat the way they did it, it took the crowd out.

Man, Hobbs was looking like a star last few weeks, and theyve put him with some jobbers to bring him down a level with some WWE Raw type comedy. Annoying that AEW seem to always put wrestlers with others in a group. Nearly everybody has a group surrounding them or a manager. MJF stands out at least.

They kinda have to put everyone in a group with the roster being as big as it is

Will Hobbs is certainly one that didn't need it with guys that have only been jobbers and haven't been seen in ages

Anyway another note

I wasn’t talking about him specifically, but a lot of people in aew would never be on tv if they weren’t in a group of some sort, is what I meant.

Oh I get what you're saying. It just dilutes everyone and nobody stands out and kills the point of having them all on.

Do you think Raine will sell WWE after they're done with United?

Also, how are we feeling about this years Mania? Couple of matches I am excited for, but others I could not give a shit about

Im excited. Cody/Reigns will be a fantastic main event.

Other matches im looking forward to:
Asuka/Bianca
Rhea/Charlotte
Tag titles match
Seth/Logan could be a spectacle.
Whoever Gunther faces (whether singles or triple threat) should be fantastic
Cena back for a one on one should be great too.
Edge vs Demon HIAC should be fun if its not 40 minutes.

Even Brock/Omos - it wont be a match but just for the f5 moment which should be cool to see.

Probably the most excited I've been for a mania in years.

I'm excited for Cody/Reigns. And I'm hoping and praying night 1 closes with the usos bs Sami/KO which I'll be super excited for. Then scattered across that youve got some decent judgement day matches, Cena/Theory. Should really be a good couple days of wrestling.

Annoyingly my other half has decided to run a half marathon for charity. Good for her and all that but it's on Sunday after night 1 so gonna be shattered. Bit rude of her if you ask me.

Plus likely to be Ray v Dom as well and hopefully LA Knight in a match.

Apparently Charlotte v Rhea closes night 1...

This is the best they've built a Wrestlemania for some time. If the quality of the matches can live up to the last couple of years (by en large) it should be good.

Just hope it doesn't fall flat again afterwards. Cody really needs to win the title so they can have a champion who its believable other main eventers on the roster might actually beat. When the champion is untouchable to literally every other wrestler it makes everything a bit flat imo as no one actually has anything worthwhile to fight or feud over, and that's what they're back to being stuck with if Roman wins. It'd genuinely piss me off.

They've somehow made Dominic one of the most entertaining things in wrestling, Ripley would be a star regardless. Edge Balor HIAC you could see coming a mile off but I'll happily take it.

Bloodline/Sami may be the best storyline WWE have ever done.

They've definitely had bigger, more entertaining characters in the past but this is the most cogent, long-term stuff I can ever remember in wrestling and more surprisingly, fans haven't got bored of it and are still totally on board.

Roman/Cody
Usos/KO & Sami
Charlotte/Rhea
IC triple threat
Edge/Balor HIAC

Should all be highlights at Mania.

Is AEW rated?

Caught some of it on ITV last night and was surprised to see Jeff Jarrett wrestling.

Orange Cassidy has quite the gimmick

How hard is it for Kevin Owens to put on some muscle? At least look like a wrestler if you want to be a star.

It's not like he's excessively fat either. He trains every day so I wonder why, bad eating habits more likely.
Terrible shout.

Nah. Well not for me. Best in a long long while for sure and by a distance, but then there's been pretty much 0 competition.

The original/early Vince vs Austin angle was done brilliantly. Vince gradually descending from the responsible owner trying to deal with a troublesome employee, to becoming an obsessed madman. The segment where Austin comes out and confronts Tyson and Vince ends up losing it and being dragged away yelling "you've ruined it" still cracks me up now. The whole angle got silly after a year or so but even then was still great entertainment. Kane/Undertaker as well.

It's weird in that as individual shows I find it a lot more enjoyable than WWE. Everything is more fun even down to the ring entrances...but it just feels like its missing something and has lost its way a bit. I guess it's just all a bit samey after a while.

I feel like they dial nearly every match up to 10/10 as well, which is great in one way but makes it difficult for anything to really stand out.

Agree with this. It's become very stale in the last year or so. I think the main thing is the lack of a strong ongoing storyline that ties it all together. It had that early days with Hangman, Kenny and the Bucks and the brief period where MJF and Punk were feuding but nothing has hit the same since.

It's a shame because they always seem to put on absolute killer ppv's which would be even better with any semblance of build up or stakes.

I'd agree with that.

Austin/Vince along with Rock turning corporate (with the way the whole survivor series 98 deadly game tournament was small angles all building to one angle at the end) which ultimately tied in with the Austin/Vince angle was brilliance (and also including taker/kane and mankind too as top players).
